Here is my attempt to answer the triangle problem.

In both the triangles, the hypotenuse are shorter (or equal to) the perpendicular, which is quite strange. So, my guess is the small squares are not proper squares; they just seem to be like squares.

Here goes the pic again. (No wonder, It has been named 'headache'.
