US passport for 2 years old child

Original Post

Please suggest: - Got US citizenship. planning to get US passport for myself to travel to Nepal as can't travel with Nepali passport anymore. (I assume) - My 2 years old daughter born in Nepal, holding Nepali Passport is now US citizen too. Do I need to get US passport for her too or she can travel to Nepal on Nepali passport though she is US citizen now?

She needs a US passport. How do you plan on bringing her back without a stamp on her old passport?

was assuming - my child still can travel as a green card holder and on Nepali passport. if passport is a must, thinking of applying for us passport in US embassy in Nepal.

If you're waiting to get passport, do it at the same time. As you know US citizens get more services than residents in case of emergency. Hassle or anxiety of getting passport in Nepal isnt worth it.

I ain’t Immigrant expert; if she is a US Citizen, she supposed to get US passport and travel from that. Automatically, she is no longer Nepali citizen. Some people travel to India and from there go to Nepal showing Nepali nagrita or passport.

Agreed. Please go to local post office and apply for her passport immediately. It’s not a good idea to travel with old Country’s passport now that her citizenship has changed.

It isn't rubbish questions. These are tricky immigration situation because u don't apply for kids citizenship during parents naturalization. I am not lawyer, but my understanding is, kids don't become citizen just because parents took naturalization. My understanding is that it only happens once they become adult and choose to take passport. As kids they are only eligible at this time and get passport as dependent/child of citizen. Keep in mind parents apply for kids passport, kids don't sign on it. And if kids are born in nepal as son/daughter of natural born napali citizen, when they are borned, they have right to be natural (banshaj) born Nepali citizen as adult. So I still don't understand, how Nepali government can force any natural born citizen off from their basic right. One can't force kids out of their citizenship right , because of their parents decision to migrate. This is definitely tricky legal matter. But for convince and no one have time, resource and energy to fight for messy legal systems in Nepal, it's just convinent to get US passport for all family and travel that way.
