Hello,

Currently I am in F-1 and I also have TPS. Is it possible I could have a reduced course load since I have TPS while maintaining my F-1 status?

Yes! Even you can take semester break while you are in TPS, but your DSO should approve it. Talk to your DSO.

Yes you can! You need to have prior approval from your DSO so he/she can update your SEVIS. If you wanna take break you should have be in F1 status for at least a year and also need to have valid reason for that if you don’t wanna screw your status.

If you have health service at your university, talk to them about your situation, explain them you are feeling overwhelmed and cannot focus. That should help make it easy and is enough reason to take a break.
