Change of Status (TPS to F2/H4)-Timeline

Does anyone know the process of changing status from TPS to H4? I heard one cannot change status directly from TPS to H4 and need to be F2 first, Is that true? Also, how long does it takes to change to H4 status? Any relevant info is greatly appreciated! Thanks
