I have a masters degree and I am in H1B visa. Recently talked to a recruiter and she told me that I can join army reserve via MAVNI. Meaning 2 days a month and 15 days a year service and on call anytime. So my question is , is it worth it? I am not planning to join infantry or anything such. I will probably go for MOS information analyst or something like that. Can you please share your experience? I would highly appreciate.

codeme, you need to lower the caps, it's totally not legible and it's considered YELLING.

Duderino, It was really a good decision for me and I just finished my 4.5 yrs contract.
Saying that, honestly, I cant do this for 20 yrs (retirement).
Let me tell you my story and how it was one of the best decision I made.
I came to US in 2004 and completed my Bachelors Degree in 2009. I was in debt of about 35K when I graduated. I couldnt find real job while I was on OPT. So, I had 3 options left.
1. Start Masters Degree ( It would add more debt)
2. Go back to Nepal and start some business there ( I was not ready to leave USA)
3. Join Army under MANVI.
I chose the third option and as you all know that in 2010 , there were two major wars going on (Iraq, Afghanistan). It was hard to decide if I was doing it right or not and does all this really worth to get citizenship.
But honestly dude, it all worth it now. I paid all my debt and have some savings now, can buy house whenever I want and do my masters with army's money if I wanted.
