Title: Nepalonomy- Nepali economy now and future Speaker: Sujeev Shakya; President, Tara Management Company Private Limited Time: 5-7PM Location: Room 105, 704 Common wealth Avenue, Boston University, Boston, MA 02215 Date: November 18, Saturday Synopsis: Nepal's political roller-coaster ride is not over yet. Since the 1990s, the political paradigm has shifted from a weakly wobbling democratic system, to the one-and-a-half times take-over by the autocratic monarch, ravaged by the Maoist insurgency with more or less a civil war in rural areas, unprecedented uprising by the people, and now the sharing of the power with the Maoists and the Prime-minister who is trying to wash his sins. Who knows where this will take us. As confused as we are about the political situation, it is important for us to try to understand the state of Nepali economy today and in the future, for whatever plans we may or may not have. Sujeev Shakya will try to shed some light through the clouds that hang over Nepal's economic field. Speaker: Sujeev Shakya is the president of of Tara Management Company Pvt. Limited in Nepal, an investment management company that recently acquired Bhote Koshi Power Company. He is a Hubert Humphrey Fellow and strives to be a corporate executive with a societal conscience. He writes extensively and most prominently as ArthaBeed every fortnight in Nepali Times.
