Room to Read provides under-privileged children with an opportunity to gain the lifelong gift of education and break the cycle of poverty. Started in Nepal, the organization has extended to Cambodia, India and Vietnam. The group has established 200 libraries, partenered w/ 25 villages to build shcools, donated 100,000 books and granted 100 long-term girls' scholarships.
Join us in "A Toast to Literacy" while enjoying the fall weather on the East Bank Club's Deck. This fun event features food, drinks, and stories from some of Aisa's most exotic locales, and is hosted by Room to Read's Chicago chapter.
6:30 Cocktails and hors d'oeuvres
7:30 "Building Schools, Building Opportunities, Building Lives" - a presentation by John Wood, Founder and President of Room to Read.
