Topic: "Constituent Assembly, Republicanism vs Monarchy and Constitutional Amendments" Date: SATURDAY, May 6, 2006 Time: 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm Location: Harvard University, Cambridge, MA (EXACT LOCATION TO BE DECIDED) Synopsis: Chhalphal Disucssion Series - Boston is organizing a discussion and debate on the Nepali political situation to gather input of the Nepali diaspora and friends of Nepal. Our program will be as follows: 1:00 – 1:30 -> Registration and Seating 1:30 – 2:00 -> Constituent Assembly Elections -> Discussion on what it is, how we organize it and how we ensure impartiality 2:00 – 2:30 -> Republicanism vs Monarchy -> Debate on which one we choose 2:30 – 3:30 -> Other Constitutional Changes -> Discussion on other changes like Women’s Rights, Equal Opportunity of dalits and marginalized classes, empowerment of the legislative bodies, Accountability and Transparency, Democratization of the political parties, Human Rights, Freedom of Speech, Decentralization etc. 3:30 – 4:00 -> Breakout Discussion ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- About ChhalPhal-Boston: ChhalPhal-Boston Discussion Series is a regular Nepal-related discussion program held in the Boston area. The big bell tower is where the house is located. Go straight into the house, you will reach a court yard, go straight, enter the main door where both the Dining Hall and JCR are located. To let right is the Dining hall and to the left is the JCR.
