Brief Description:
Having found its foundation on the tradition of slavery about 300 years ago in a village called Bhujel in western Gorkha district of Nepal, the lyric drama ?Malati Mangale? even today inspires and arouses our instinct sensitivity and sympathies.

Mangale and Malati were bounded laborers (slaves), both of them were good and equally kind. The younger mistress of the house is delighted to see the virtuous couple. But the master has a tech for Malati. One night the younger mistress dreams about Mangale. The master, who times to enslave even the thoughts of others, does not approve of it, and he sells Mangale. At the time of departure Malati says, ?I want to love as long as you love. How would I know that you are alive?? Mangale answers, ?I will leave the ?wild flowers? with you. So as long as it does not wither, I will survive.?

It is a folklore but it does not belong to a particular country. It is based on a real life incident from a village named Bhujel of Gorkha district. Listening to that story we wish that wild flower had never withered. In search of that wild flower we find two ?golden flowers. They are the earrings of the queen of Gorkha. One day the queen of Gorkha, visiting around the country, rests in a courtyard. Meanwhile, she sees Mangale claimed and brought by another master. She rescues Mangale by giving the gold ear-ring of right ear and sells the left god rear-ring and sends money to rescue Malati and justifies the saying ?incase of injustice go to Gorkha.

Singing merrily after his emancipation, Mangale reaches at Malati?s. ?Now at last, I am counted among human beings!?. Man provides the opportunity to man to live like a man, but it is man only who deprives man of this opportunity
