Call for Nominations for 2005 International
Nepali Literary Best Book Awards


International Nepali Literary
Society (INLS), Washington D.C. is pleased to announce its First Outstanding
Contributions to Nepali Literature Award. This award includes six varieties
of awards and a same author could be awarded up to Nepali Rupees 125,000.00.
These awards are established to encourage and recognize Nepali Literature
internationally. INLS calls for nominations for 2005 International Nepali Literary Best Book Awards.


Awards:



  1. International Nepali Literary Society Best Book Award for
    Outstanding Contribution to Nepali Literature: (Equivalent to Nepali
    Rupees 50,000 and a Plaque)


  2. Late Dr. Dilliram Timsina Memorial Best Book Award for Outstanding
    Contribution to Nepali Literature by a Female Author

    (Equivalent to Nepali Rupees 20,000 and a Plaque)


  3. Late Dr. Dilliram Timsina Memorial Best Book Award for First
    Published Outstanding Contribution to Nepali Literature by a new author

    (Equivalent to Nepali Rupees 15,000 and a Plaque)

    (Note: a same author could get in combination of two or three of these
    awards)



  4. Haribhakta Katuwal Geeti Kavita INLS Best Book Award for
    outstanding contribution to Nepali literature by publishing any of the
    Gajal, Geet, Jhyaure, Folk songs or related book.

    (Equivalent to Nepali Rupees 15,000 and a Plaque)


  5. Sara Children INLS Best Book Award for outstanding contribution to
    Nepali literature by publishing children?s books.

    (Equivalent to Nepali Rupees 15,000 and a Plaque)


  6. Rohini Sharma? Dhawalagiri
    INLS Best Book Award for outstanding contribution to Nepali literature by
    a author of Dhawalagiri origin.

    (Equivalent to Nepali Rupees 10,000 and a Plaque)



Qualification:




  1. "Contributions to Nepali literature" indicates the text
    of a book in Nepali language. It also implies that the committee shall
    consider all forms of literary writings - fiction, non-fiction, poetry.
    Reprints and compilations are not eligible. However, the exceptions
    include, reprints within 2 years of first publication and compiled work of
    authors previously published original articles.


  2. For 2005's award nominations, publication should be first
    published between January 1, 2003 and December 31, 2004.


  3. "Author" may include co-authors. The author(s) may be
    awarded the medal posthumously.


  4. The book must be a self-contained entity, not dependent on other
    media (i.e., sound or film equipment) for its enjoyment.


  5. Nomination will be submitted with ten copies of the book and they
    will not be refundable but the property of INLS.


  6. A cover letter and a complete bio-data of author(s) should be
    submitted along with the book. Cover letter should include a line
    specifying that the submitted work is an original work by the author(s).


  7. Nomination should be received by INLS by January 15, 2005.


  8. None of the INLS cabinet members and their immediate family
    members may be nominated. In such case, an individual should resign from
    the board/committee.


  9. Any notable campaign by the author or publisher will disqualify
    their nomination.


  10. Award result will be announce on Bhanu Jayanti second week of
    July, 2005, in USA. Award will be distributed on Devakota Jayanti in
    November, 2005, in Washington D.C., USA.

  1. Any one can submit a nomination.


  2. Nomination should be received by INLS by January 15, 2005. INLS is
    not responsible for any delay or loss by the postal service.
