Dr. Durga Pokhrel is a familiar name among Nepali Community. She has held many positions and role that has been the inspiration to many. She was the director of the First Nepali Commission of Women, as well as a minister. She has co-authored book titled Shadow over Sangrila. She has also been the editor of three different publications, a journalist, and currenly been involved in film making entrepreneurship.
Dr. Pokhrel is the first Nepali women to earn a doctorate degree from Harvard University and earned doctor of philosophy (PhD) in education. She also went to the Kennedy School of Government of Harvard University. She is the champion of rights of women and have been involved in many activities to empower them. She has practical knowledge and experience on opportunties, issues and challenges that faces nepali women and how those could be addressed towards empowering Nepali women. All are invited and specially women are encouraged to attend.
