What started off as a small idea for a summit for the youths of the Himalayan Community, soon became a collaborative effort between different community organizations and agencies.
This collaboration of agencies (Sahayeta, CHAA, TANC, BCC, CAN-USA, and CAAM) are glad to now announce the first annual Himalayan Youth Leadership Summit, to be held on August 20, 2011, at Samuel Merritt University in Oakland.
The idea behind this event is to organize and host an event through which youths from the Himalayan communities (Tibetan, Bhutanese & Nepalese) can be brought together in a single forum where they can be able to network with each other, build relationships and have fun. The summit will host various workshops and a broad range of guest speakers from their own professional fields to encourage, inspire and motivate the youths to further challenge themselves and achieve their goals & dreams. Detailed schedule and speakers profiles are available in our website - www.sahayeta.org.
The goal of this leadership summit is to:
1) Empower Youths: encourage young people to envision their capacity for affecting positive change in the world.
2) Provide a Platform: facilitate youth to exchange ideas and share their talents.
3) Create an Alliance: provide a welcome space for youth and adult leadership to connect.
The event will also include an entertainment section that kicks off at 6 pm comprising of a singing contest and fashion designer showcase aimed at bring hidden talents to the fore.
The networking event is FREE. $25 for the Entertainment Nite only. First 50 registrations in the afternoon event will get free entry to the entertainment section. So Hurry Up and register at www.sahayeta.org. We hope to see you there........
