ANA Convention 2003 - Poetry and Literature Events Call for Poems and Participation The ANA Convention 2003 Poetry and Literature Committee is pleased to announce following literary events to be organized at the Association of Nepalis in the Americas (ANA) Annual Convention, July 3-6, 2003. ANA, in conjunction with the Rocky Mountain Friends of Nepal (RMFN), Denver, Colorado is hosting its 21st Annual Convention at Marriott Hotel at Denver Tech Center , Colorado. The Poetry and Literature events will be held in collaboration with International Nepali Literary Society (INLS), Washington D.C. There are two literary events planned this year. Please send your poems and literary creations for the following events ASAP. 1. Nepali Poetry Festival/Contest 2003 (3 hours) ANA Convention 2003 Poetry and Literature Committee invites poets to submit their poems for poetry contest in following category: * 18 or university age and older * Children (Under 18 year of age) In order to participate in both categories, * The poem must be in Nepali language, original, unpublished and less than 150 words. * Poets must be present in person (If the poet is not present, his/her poem will not be included in the contest.) * It can be in any subject and style. * Please indicate whether your poem is for adult, children, competitive or non-competitive category. Prizes for adult poetry competition: First: Certificates and cash prize of $125.00 Second: Certificates and cash prize of $100.00 Third: Certificates and cash prize of $50.00 (Winners in the adult poetry competition will be awarded with "INLS Sharma-Mudvary Nepali Poetry Award") Prizes for children poetry competition: First: Certificates and cash prize of $100.00 Second: Certificates and cash prize of $75.00 Third: Certificates and cash prize of $25.00 (Winners in the children poetry competition will be awarded with "INLS Amar Mina Poetry Award".) We are also accepting literary creations written in English or any language of Nepal on non-competitive category for publication in our magazines and papers. The deadline for the entry is June 15, 2003. In case of not having enough entries, the deadline can be extended. Literary Book Forum (1 hour) This forum will feature literary work of litterateurs writing in English, Nepali and other ethnic languages of Nepal. It will highlight their recent publications, previous and upcoming work. In addition, it will provide a platform for various US-based literary organizations, on-line and paper-based literary journal publishers to discuss their services and network with other litterateurs and readers. Note: The deadline for proposal submission is May 31, 2003. Proposals received after this date will be entertained on a first-come-first-serve basis only if presentation slots are still available.
