Since 1991, J.H.Collins & Associates has led a team of international experts in a project to attract international financial services companies to Nepal. This project’s goal is to literally make Nepal the "Switzerland of Asia". The project has received advice and financial assistance from the Harvard Law School program on International financial systems, KPMG India, The United Nations Development Program, The Nepal Rastra Bank, The Bank of England and the Swiss Banking Commission. The project became official government policy with the passing of the International Financial Transactions Act by unanimous vote of the Nepalese Parliament in 1998. Speaker: Joseph Collins Mr. Joseph Collins first introduced the opportunity of creating an International Financial Center to His Majesty's Government and has led the project during its eleven years of progress. He will discuss how the project created new legal framework for attracting sophisticated industries to developing countries. In addition, he will explain why to most people's surprise, Nepal has most of the requirements in place to make this vision for Nepal a reality.
