GLOBAL VILLAGE PARTY
POTLUCK BON-FIRE BARBEQUE
Saturday Night, 19 OCT. Fort Washington, Md.
(10 minutes from the Woodrow Wilson Bridge)

When: Potluck begins about 6 PM, and lasts all evening.
Come as early as 5pm, or as late as you must, and stay as long as you like.

Where: 8406 Sleepy Hollow Road, Fort Washington, Md.; at a friend’s, Vince
Lombardi’s house (cell 703-328-1840). Directions included below.

Who’s Coming: A multicultural mixture of friends of friends. Invite your
friends, and bring your children.

What You Might Expect: Good food, folks and ethnic music with drumming and
dancing around the bonfire. Field, forest, rope swings, and a hot tub to
soothe sore muscles (bring suit/towel). Your enthusiasm and participation
in joining the drumming circle, ethnic dancing, playing a musical instrument,
singing, etc. are appreciated. The party is what you bring to it.

What To Bring: If you can, bring some food or beverage to share. There’s a
large propane grill and a grate over the bonfire for grillable foods. Bring
any kind of drums and musical instruments -- talking drums, congas, madal,
bongos, shaker, flute, guitar, tabla, didgeridoo, chimes, bells, cymbals,
tambourine, moroccos, etc. And bring your favorite drumming/dance CD/tape
music.

The Setting: Friendly wooded neighborhood; house on 3 narrow acres of field
and forest; large garage with tables for potluck food and 8-person jacuzzi
hot-tub; backyard bonfire circled with chairs and tree trunk stools; two rope
swings; lots of space for kids to run around and play; nearby park; side deck
with large propane grill; indoors, comforts of home.

What To Wear: Very casual recreational clothing that you don’t mind getting
a little smokey in around the bonfire, or torn while on the rope swing, and
tennis shoes.

What’s Provided: Paper plates, plastic utinsels, cups, napkins, some
appetizers and beverages, ice, propane grill, bonfire grill, grilling tools,
CD/tape player, bonfire, hot-tub, field and forest.

Optional Sleep-Over: If you sleep over, choose inside Vince's house (sofas
or floor) or bring your tent or campertop (sleep wear, sleeping bag/blanket,
pad, pillow, towel, tooth brush).

Directions: (From Northern VA)
Take Beltway 495/95 across the Woodrow Wilson Bridge into MD. Take the very
first MD exit -- EXIT 2A (295 / Indian Head Highway). As you make the exit
keep to the right and exit onto 210 South (not 295 N). This long exit ramp
puts you onto 210 S after about 1 mile.
**Make a left turn at the 3rd traffic light onto Palmer Rd. (Caution: sign
says Livingston Rd. On right, Palmer Rd. On left – also Palmer Rd. changes
names to Tucker Rd. after a couple of miles and then again to Allentown Rd.)
Go up about 2 1/2 miles past Bock Rd. and make the next right at a traffic
light onto Allentown Rd. Proceed about 1/4 mile and make first left onto
Oaklawn Rd. (just in front of a small mini-mall with blue awnings). Proceed
about 1/3 mile down a winding road, through the woods, and turn left onto
Sleepy Hollow Rd. Vince’s house is the 2nd house in on this “no outlet”
gravel road and is a yellow 2-story home. Park anywhere.

Directions: (From MD)
From Beltway 495/95, take MD exit 3A – 210 South – Indian Head Hwy. Upon
exiting, turn onto Indian Head Hwy. Make a left turn at the 4th traffic
light (includes 1st light) onto Palmer Rd. – follow directions above**.
