DASHAIN & TIHAR MELA INVITATION
Following the successful first Dashain and Tihar Mela in 2001, the America Nepal Society is organizing a second grand Nepali festival: Dashain and Tihar Mela, on Sunday 20th October 2002. During the Mela, we will again create a festive atmosphere for all Nepalese and friends of Nepal living in the Washington D.C metropolitan area.
The America Nepal Society has arranged a new and better venue for the celebration of Nepali art, culture, and religion for expatriate Nepalese and friends of Nepal. The Dunn Loring Volunteer Fire & Rescue Department Hall is just outside the Capitol Beltway, close to Tyson's Corner. As well as being easy to find, it provides good parking and excellent facilities. Some of the attractions for this year's Mela are: two Nepali cultural shows ~ one in the afternoon and the other after dinner; stalls for sale of Nepali art, crafts, clothing; audio, video, cassette and C.D recordings of music; and a book fair, as well face painting and a moon bounce for our younger participants. Nepali snacks will be on sale during the afternoon.
During the Mela, the ANS Election Committee will announce the new Executive Board.
This will be another great opportunity for Nepali people and friends of Nepal to meet under one roof, and celebrate the great Nepali festivals, Dashain and Tihar.
