On the recommendation of the Ministry of Information and Communications, the Cabinet on Monday demoted Acting General Manager of Nepal Television Dipakmani Dhital to deputy general manager. He was punished on the charge of telecasting live the June 8 mass meeting of 27 opposition parties from Khulamanch in Kathmandu. Not only the protest programme of the opposition parties, the state-owned broadcaster also telecast live the June 15 mass gathering of the UCPN (Maoist) from the same venue. The Cabinet decision has laid bare the government’s hypocritical emphasis on freedom of expression, said a civil servant at NTV requesting anonymity.

Hypocrites !!  Didn't we get rid of monarchy for the same reason ?  Hundreds of people died for this right.  But now we are back to square 1.  Right back where we started.  WHAT A FUGGING SHAME !!

i think i am missing something here...isn't khulamanch meeting already open to public? so this guy is being punished because he authorized broadcasting of a publicly held gathering? 

not sure of the legitimacy of the news but i am not a bit surprised to see how politics rule out intellects once again. nepali mai dailogue hanna man lagyo....

desh ma policymakers haru ko auta autonomous body hunu jaruri cha, composed of experts in their fields and free of political influence, jasle garda sarkar dhaldaima/badaldai ma bikash ko kam narokkiyos. once a stable government takes control, these body can submit their proposals/findings to parliament/government for debate. gyanendra tried to involve experts but those people were not good in the dirty game of politics.

unstable politics can induce instability to whole country. so it needs to be quarentined in some way. jaba samma nepal ko politics stabilize hunna, sectors like education, public health, business, should be declared politics free. neta haru ko jhagda ma janta muchhinu thik hoina. afno agenda finalize garera party haru janta ma aaos, tespachi kollai chunne janta ko haat ma cha.. tara agenda nai nabhayeka party ko support/oppsoe garera basnu upayukta dekhdina.

desh tukraune jimma simit neta haru lai dina upayukta mandina. this is a decison our coming generation have to live with. 1-2 barse kursi ko moha, dherai bache 10-15 barsa bachne neta haru ko byaktigaat ghagda bhanda dherai thulo bisaya ma hattar garna thik hola ra?

birodh pradarshani specific boundary bhitra garinu percha jasle samanya janta ma prabhab kaam paros, birodh ko karyakram lagu garnu agadi auta public body (nagarik samaj?) bata pass huna jaruri cha jasle public impact analysis garera decision dina sakos. ahile arakjta failaune yo auta pramukh karak baneko cha.

again, these are just my view. i know they sound too ideological. janta bhanda karyakarta badi bhayeko desh ma yo lagu huna asambhav jhai cha. nepal ma political leader bhanda effective management ko badi khacho dekhchu.

dherai agi dekhi bhanna maan thiyo.. shoddiyera bato sajilo paridinubhayeko ma grgdai lai dhanyabaad.

Bairagikancho good thought process but it would be deemed to be on ideological side because of the difficulty in implementing any kind of process in Nepal.

There needs to be a provision in the constitution for such an autonomous body as you have suggested.
