Guys - i was wondering if anyone could give the fact on this. My employer is saying it would cost them about $6000 to sponsor H1 for me and wants to divide the cost. This is the first time they are sponsoring anyone. Its an IT company and i am working as a full time employee for past 1 year now.
From all the website and from friends.. i could only see it would cost them about $3000 for the process and if they do premium it would cost an extra $1000.
Is there anyway i could show them, it would not cost $6000 whatsoever?
Thanks!

Bootleg Info Only,

$1500 Training Fee (If the employer has less than 25 employees then the training fees is only $750)

$500 Fraud fee and

$320 petition fee.

If married,

USCIS filing fee $300

Attorney fee $200

Plus add attorney fees. (about 1000 dollars) plus premium processing (if you like, 1000 dollars)

it can cost more than that sometimes...and it depends on what has to be done. I know a person who had a degree in EE but was working on a IT job(hired directly by an American company)...the lawyers suggested to sent the transcripts to another expert who compared if the degree and the job performed would match or not...In the end the total cost for the whole H1 B filing process came out to be about $8000. Lawyers charge a lot of money for their consultation. However if you don't have to do anything extra like that, it shouldn't cost so much.

Also keep in mind that it is illegal for the emplyer to take money from you to file your H1 visa. They can't take money from you nor can they reduce your salary for filing H1 B visa.

Wrong ..

employer can ask for the money .. from employee and they can deduct .. from you paycheck

Only $1500 has to be paid by Employer for Training fee .. All others Can be paid by Employee as well. My friend did and he got h1 last year .. His attorney was ok with that as it is per the H1b filing rule
