Every people out of ten are left handed. For centuries, left-handers have suffered unfair discrimination in this world of right-handers. Being left handed is neither a genetic defect nor a disorder. Left handed people feel awkward using their right hand and vice versa. People with creative minds are mostly left handed. More than fifty percent of lefties process speech in left hemisphere. Lefties are more likely to have reading problems. It has been found more common among mathematicians, musicians, architects, and artists. Studies show that it is more common in males prefer to females. Identical twins have more chance of being left handed.
A child may be left handed due to high exposure to testosterone before birth. Left handedness may be due to stress during birth. There is a relation between ultrasonography and subsequent left handedness in child. But this has not sufficient statistical evidence yet. Left-handers face several different types of problem due to the orientation of objects made by right handed person. Kitchen tools, computer mice, and many other objects are made to fit the right-handers only. Older people are less likely to be left handed than the younger people. 12% of 20 year olds are left handed in U.S, while only 5% of 50 year olds and less than 1% people are left handed. Researchers at Lafayette College and Johns Hopkins University in a research found that left-handed men are 15 % richer than right-handed men for those who attended college and 26% richer if they graduated. Left-handers have more advantage in hand- to-hand combat. Both speaking and handwork is performed by one hemisphere in left-handers. This makes the division of labor of hemisphere more efficient than dividing up.

I can't remember exactly but I had read somewhere that human nature is always left-handed. If you notice small kids, they always prefer to use left hand to right.
We are trained to use right handed, I guess.
Although I am right handed, I find left-handed people cool.

.Interesting.

Now I am in dilemma. What should I call myself? I am totally confused about if I am a right handed or a left handed person.

In Cricket, I am a left hand bowler and a right hand batsman. I through ball with my left hand and cannot do that with my right hand. In volley ball, If I serve under arm I use right hand and when I smash I use my left hand.

Everytime when somebody asks me to turn right or left, I have to check my hand to figure out which side is my right. I have a ring on my right hand and it helps me know which side is my right. I am not kidding.

Left handed are always interesting to watch. Nishchay, my young 3 yrs old friend, is a left handed kid.

Good to see some left handed person in Sajha.

Have a good one Ya'll

:-)

"We are trained to use right handed, I guess."

Nepal ko chhora, my mom actually beat/slapped my hands and tried making me a right-handed but to no avail. I landed up writing, playing and eating with left hand.

Now! Is it taking the wind out of your sails as I’m saying “eating with left hand”?
Or maybe Yuck! Eweee…or whatever? It is the most ridiculous response I get from people, sometimes. If I do everything that right handed people do with my left hand, what is so alarming if I EAT with it?
Back in Nepal, in my fourth grade, my science teacher tried converting me into a right-handed. I still can’t believe that he actually assigned me to write a page from A to Z everyday with my right hand and I, helpless and equally confused, did it. But for some reasons I stopped later (thankfully!). But as I look back now, I only wonder, what was his problem? The Brahmin who always did the pujas in my house, told me (actually scornfully, how dare he?) that it was bad (like I’m going against the religion) and I needed to change it. And, worst of all, my mom agreed. I had no choice but to follow them and tried eating using spoon with my right hand. After a week, I was like wtf? It was an actual “wtf” case and I never bothered changing myself again. Will not. EVER!

But most of the times, I have had people tell me that they find left-handed people cool, creative n others.…Perhaps it was only then that I was actually convinced that it was okay to be a left-handed else, I had already started considering myself a criminal.

“The difficulty in reading” part in the research is still making me wonder though. I guess not :/

…the only time I wish I were a right-handed now is, when I am using Ms-paint and some art related work in the computer. Why can’t we have a left-handed mouse? :(
