अब हजुर हरु लाई थाहा छदै छ यहाँ को life , म नि gas station म़ा फुल time life enjoy gari ra छु ६ मैना भो ..

तिम्रो दाई ले ५ वर्ष gas स्टेशन मा घण्टा हान्यो र im proud of it..after working 5 long years in IT im returning back to same job but this time  as a owner.

im have struggled 10 years to get in whereever u r now n im still doing it..if u have come here as a student then only u would realize what GC really mean, if not ask any student around u

हो यहाँ doctor ले अरु पेस भन्दा एकदम धेरै कमौछ तर they are not boss they have to work for others, the worst part of life is working for others n make them rich n the best part is working for your self, seeing yourself grow ma make other work for you..

भखर १८ वर्ष को रैछौ gas station को operation सिक, पैसा जम्मा गर क्रेडिट बनौ अनि आफ्नै स्टेशन खोल ..be an entrepreneur भाई not an employee. US is very easy country.. २ बाट ४ हुन यहाँ केहि बेर लाग्दैन..wherever u go being an employee n working for others sucks a big time.

best of luck

Bhai,
70% in plus 2 not much high score it does not mean i am trying to discourage you...
You have GC and still teenager , you will qualify for financial aid
Go college, focus get A+ on basic science/math
3/4 years you will have a degree
Then you will have a platform can run business or further professional study (doctor/lawer whaterver) or can do IT...
short route , If you really enjoy in medical field go back nepal and study in private college(if you have enough money) keep coming once a year so gc does not expire
After MBBS you can try for residency
To become medical practitioner in usa is not that easy too, long process and no work life balance too
Do not depress /confuse stay focus on exactly what you like ? do not bump around gas station, grocery store ..
Good Luck

Make lots of money and start your own business. Fuvk degree or school, you can educate yourself at home. School is worthless nowadays.

Only about 55% of international medical graduates ever match into a residency spot in US. Historically, the percent is even lower for Nepali med school graduates. Above percent is inflated by graduates from Australia, Ireland, Israel, and some medical diploma mills in carribean that cater to North American premeds. So DOMT GO OUT OF USA IF YOU WANT TO PRACTICE HERE. sure you’ll hear success stories of foreign grads but they’re the moniroity and not majority of cases.

So, have patience, go get a four year degree. Start studying for MCAT in your sophomore year. Make good grades ( 3.5 gpa is almost too low for MD), volunteer in underserved areas, get involved in extra curriculars and get clinical experience ( working as EMT, CNA, OR SCRIBE and shadow physicians and build enough relationship to get you a letter of recommendation).

Have it all ready (and about 5k for application season) in the summer before your last year in undergrad. Then apply and don’t fck up in interview, you’ll get in! Don’t worry about the loans, we are Nepali so just use that 70%+ brain in real like with common sense. Live like a student one more year after residency and the loans will be paid off!

Make sure you grab your citizenship when eligible and don’t get into any legal or academic trouble. For medical school application in us, plagiarism is worse then DUI. So, Nepal ko jasto homework sarne chahi chaldaina ni!

I think you really should pursue it.

Good luck

mailabako_choro - i really like what you've started thinking about. go chase your dream brother, if that dream means so much to you, don't give up so easily. i can give you a snapshot of what it takes to be a doctor in the US. but realize upfront, it is a nine year process you are staring at if all goes well. else it will be a lifetime of regret and likely remorse for not passing the USMLE or some such barrier - there are just too many hurdles to clear.

first and foremost, do some research on requirements. look up online and find out what it takes to get to a medical college. you can start here. that site provides a high level idea of the admission scenario for 2016-17 in general. Here are the steps you will need to take according to this source:

  1. Complete Grade 12  / High School diploma / GED — exceptional academic results set the tone for the future!
  2. You MUST finish a 4-year college or university degree, complying with medical school premed requirements
  3. In your final year at college/university, you will have to do the MCAT test (Medical School Admission test)
  4. Apply to medical school. I would suggest that you make use of ‘AMCAS’.
i might add the fifth one to the list: get ready to shell out lot of money for tuition etc.

as you work odd jobs, you should find time to get to a community college (yes, you don't need fancy A-list colleges to excel - if you can get into an A-list college, it's great, but not required) and focus on biology, chemistry/biochemistry and maths. you should also really scale up your grasp of the english language. read good books (proper literature) like there's no tomorrow. this is true for any discipline, not just for an aspiring medical student. but you will need this more than anything. lot of nepali sajha friends know good community colleges (please readers, if you know one lets suggest him one) and you can then dig into college/studies. tell your bio instructor what you wish to do next. they will also most likely help.

having studied in south asia and and in the US, i can tell you that the rigor required to secure a 70% score in a high school in nepal is quite substantial. if the internet hasn't distracted you, you can get around 3.5 GPA with that much of input here - at least i did. hang out with studious gorey friends and learn their way of studying. it is different but effective, especial their use of logic in answering multiple choice questions that will be the bane of your life during MCAT and USMLE. you will need to scale up your study efforts too, to ensure you get a good GPA. volunteer in hospitals, do some community work and so on. all of these things will help your application become better by a tiny margin. add several of these 'margins' and your application will get attention in some colleges. this is important in order to get admission.

don't waste time trying to pass MCAT on your own, without getting into some kind of coaching institute - it is too damn difficult they say. although that test will filter men from the boys, the coaches do know their shit and they aren't kidding, unlike those lame tutors in putali sadak in ktm. they will charge you an arm and a leg, but trust me brother, it will save you time and resources.

you are young, and you are in the right place. take that opportunity. don't let negative comments from jilted lovers and folks with unfulfilled dreams affect you. surround yourself with good/positive friends and dig deep into studies with a strategy. play smart, not just be a rattu. you will make it bro.

hope that gets you thinking about it. am no doctor but know folks who are into that here. any questions - just ask.

best wishes.

All newcomers face the same problem when they get here in the States. They do not quite comprehend what they are capable of doing things in here. Good thing is that they always seek some potential solution to move forward in their lives. Think about just getting a visa what kind of things you already got and achieved. Let me remind you what you got and what you did not have back in Nepal. One of the important things you have now is you are capable of making your destiny on your own rather than relying on your parents. A gas station is a medium where you'd pay your bills and keep dreaming here. And this is the only dream that motivates you every day. So don't get frustrated with this job.

I think you are struggling with what you want to be in your future. That's why you are not sure whether to become a software consultant or to become a doctor or what else to follow. My recommendation for you is to do a research and learn something at the high level before you commit to pursuing the degree. After you do enough research, then you won't be worried about how much money you will spend on getting a doctor's degree. All you want at this moment is to become a doctor instead of worrying about the money. If the profession gives you 200-300K, why mind spending 400K, it's worth investment, don't you think?  And yes, I am more biased in US degree than in Nepal's.

Good Luck!
