I thought DaysInn is a good affordable place to stay as it is available in all areas you mentioned (Artesia, Norwalk, El Sugendo, Torrance)

Anyways, you can try sulekha.com
you can find lots of dhotis around those area.
Artesia, Norwalk, Cerritos are pretty good place to stay. Torrance too. El Sugendo is expensive and bit far unless you have a job around that area.

If you have guts and don't mind staying in Compton. you can join me.
