HOR declares Nepal “untouchability free” country

In yet another major announcement, the reinstated House of Representatives on Sunday unanimously endorsed a proposal to declare Nepal a country “free of untouchability and all kinds of discrimination.”

The legal and constitutional status of the proposal, however, remains unclear.

Moving a proposal of “urgent public importance,” a lawmaker of the CPN (UML), Parshuram Neghi Gurung, called on so-called dalit community—that constitutes 16 percent of the country’s 27 million population—in all processes of making new constitution and ending all sorts of discriminatory policies and practices including so-called untouchability.

The proposal calls for mobilization of special economic programme for education, health and employment for dalits and those under the absolute poverty line to their status.

The constitution of the kingdom of Nepal 1990 prohibits all types of discrimination against citizens on the basis of caste, gender or religion. But activists said a number of discriminatory provisions and laws were still in practice.

Addressing the House session on Sunday, Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Narendra Bikram Nemwang said untouchability was a social crime and that the government would introduce a new bill soon to make necessary amendments in the existing Act.

Earlier, the House of Representatives has already declared Nepal a secular state and asked the government to formulate laws so as to issue citizenship certificated to children in the name of their mother. Earlier, the certificate could be issued in the name of father only.

I said I am a proud Hindu and a son of Buddha. In what sense did I said?

Am I proud Hindu because we have caste system and so called upper castes treats humans even lower than animals and insects?

They eat when insects like fly touch their food but they don’t eat when some human beings touch it. These subjects of pity don’t even know that what will happen if they eat the food touched by insects like fly. And these are the people who consider themselves most pious, most superior, most intelligence, and greatest. This is completely idiot idea, started by fool people.

These poorest of wisdom are the real threat of Hinduism. If this system continues, there will born hundreds of thousands Felicities. In few decades Hinduism will be endangered religion and it could be history by 22nd century. I am so surprised why these lower caste people are still Hindu? They are so ignorance that they don’t know what is going on with them. Their ignorance is dying out and pretty soon they will remove the tag of Hinduism form their forehead. Hindus are going to loose many sheep from their flock.

Caste system put me in shame. However, I don’t run away like Felicity. I fight against it.

Am I proud Hindu because we have the largest number (330 thousands) of gods?

I know these all are fake tales. There were 33 gods in Veda, almost all are natural forces. This was the system developed by Sumerians and followed by Egyptians. Persian Avestha and Hindu Veda shares many gods even their names, like सोम, in Veda होम in Avestha. Main Vedic hero Indra which is known as सुर is a counter part of Persian असुर (अहुर in Persian). When later Buddhism and Jainism developed new ideas, so many new gods came in picture. To accommodate Buddhist and Jainist new gods, Hindus put कोटी after तेत्तिस and it becomes तेत्तिसकोटी .

Poor Hindus blindly believe that there are 330 thousands gods above the cloud. I am not proud of this kind of Hinduism.

Am I proud of incarnation system?

When Buddhism and Jainism brought new ideas, Vedas couldn’t explain them. Vedas were begging bowls of many Hindu priests and their livelihood got threatened . Then they started to write new literature to accommodate the ideas of Buddhism. These new literatures were named as पुराण, which means very old.

They made up fake stories which contains main teaching of Buddha and give wrong message to the society. There was very old tradition of teaching moral lessons through fables. Heroes of these fables were made alive in पुराण, they are राम, कृष्ण, जनक, सिता, अर्जुन etc. Incarnation system has influence of Judaic (Judaism, Christianity, and Islaam) tradition. In Judaic tradition god sends messengers like Mosses, Jesus, and Muhammad, but in Hinduism god incarnate himself. In Hinduism, there are three different gods for creation (बह्मा), protection (बिष्णु) and destruction (शिब), where as in Judaic tradition one god does all three works. These there gods are less popular Vedic gods. Early story of Karna is similar to the story of Mosses. मत्स्य अबतार is similar to the story of Noah. There were business routes from India to Persia and even to Egypt. People were interacting. During Muslim Empire, Hindus scholars took Chinese Astrology to Baghdad. China was the first civilization in the planet to develop astrology.

पुराण were written between 3rd century BC to till 17th /18th century. Even in 19th /20th century literature you can still find the incarnation system. I can cite you two examples, read them. मधुमालतिको कथा र अकबर बिरबल।

I am not proud of this fake incarnation system. Thanks to British Archeologists otherwise Buddha would also be one of the imaginary पौराणिक पात्र।

Am I proud of Hindu fest and festivals, rite and rituals?

How can a civilized person approve the violent killing of innocent animal? Instead of celebrating it has been decades that I have been opposing Dashian. Dashain is a festival of killing, Tihar is a festival of gambling, Holi/Shivaratri is the festival of smoking Marijuana. How can I celebrate them? I don’t go to temples and don’t perform any rites and rituals which don’t have any scientific meaning. I am certainly not proud of these things.

In summery, I don’t practice anything what a typical Hindu of these days practice and I don’t believe anything what typical Hindu of these days believe.

Then what makes me a proud Hindu?

Will come next......................

Ok felicity here it comes,
and Vishontar you are way off man .Try to understand Things than blaming.Think!!!!!!!!

"THERE IS NO NEED TO BE ASHAMED OF CASTE SYSTEM NEITHER KILLINGS OF ANIMALS"

Have it ever occured to you that things are their with correct intention but something goes wrong during time and process .Just like"DEMOCRACY " for Nepal.:)
The 90's democracy was good .Wasn't it .How did we interpret it .Infact how did nepali janta and people used it??????

Caste system is not the root teachings of hinduism.
Caste system not only exist in out culture but also in many other civilization from Africa to Europe.

As i mentioned Hinduism grew with time and people according to time has been adding stuff .Some are interpreting incorrectly though the intention might not have been ill intended.

As the Indus valley civilization grew .There was more opportunities other than farming .They were very advance people .They had irrigation system to engineers. There needed to be work distirbution.Infact one the knowledgable had to get some apperentice to continue there work /skills.

This later on continued as time passed .People started exploiting. Now the politics gets involved.Mind you all other religion(except-Jews,except jain/buddism/Shekh- reforms of hindusim)are politically driven from the time it has existed)
The civilization of Aryans grew and started migarating to east - and south. There they meet dravidians.Dravidians are indegenious people of present south east asia.Since these aryans were smarter than dravidians .They assimilated as well as finding ways to dominate these black jungles(sorry to use this term).they adopted some of thier beliefs and imposed some of theirs. Now ,Aryans expolited these dravidians and idegenious people. And started dominating. As the Dravidians had already adopted aryans belief system they went along with the Arayans. The Aryans also divided the Dravidians.
The Made up story of one caste being superior to another is just madeup. There is nothing superiority in caste ,their intention was division of work.

As the civilization of india continued these so called Arayans (brahmin ) mostly would made up false story in hinduism and make themself more superior.Hinduism doesn't initaily advocate superiority on the basis of caste.(the original).I admit that these needs reforms in modern days Hinduism but don't blame Hinduism for it.

As far part of Nepal. These so called chettri and some Aryans entered present day Nepal too.they were clever ,smart than janjati so easily they stablised thier dominance in Nepal too.Do you remember in Nepal their were janjati Rajas - kirats .

During the time of Malla kings .Jayasthi malla again, reformed the society according to work.To divide work among people and this continued as time passed so called high class people started exploiting.Exploitation occurs in every religion - muslim is not pure and hinduism is no exception.

Then again in later Jang bahadur inorder to intergate people inforced these caste system.
So Felicity -- sometime things starts with good intention but end up in wrong direction.it is just life !!!

I will explain why scarifice is wrong and not so wrong. To be continued:)

Just to add to what ImI wrote, and I totally agree with her- the bais of 4 warna 36 jaat has similar reaons.
Prithivi Narayn Shah- the founder of this great kingdom had a reson when he said that. He saw that Nepal was like a garden- a garden of 36 different flowers and that to maintain these flowers' identity- their TRUE colours- they should not be allowed to mix. Thus he proclaimed a caste system- based on WORK. He believed that an idle nation is NOT a nation. Everyone in the nation should work and because he had just conquered the nation- he thought it would be wise if the work done byone particular caste be continued by that group simply because it was more economical as the new generation in the same caste would learn it and perfect it further.
However, times changed. Rather than for love of country and fellow people- people started going for money and hence, the caste with knowledge of mathematics, economics and the sciences- namely the brahmins and chetris- began exploiting the others. Even the Newars in the Kathmandu valley had these skills and so they too got on the bandwagon. Whate resulted was an intricate system designed to oppress the ones already without the knowledge they had.
Now, not ALL of the chetris and brahmins and the higher castes were guilty of this. Some resisted this new "doctrine" and hence it was possible for ideas of change to exist to this day.
Thus the caste system in Nepal has NO roots in hinduism. It's roots are in Prithivi Narayan Shah's intention to help secure the area of land bounded by commonalities, i.e. Nepal. Had we still been divided the British wouldve taken us easily. But because he used division of labour- aka the caste system- he maximized the country's resources then and helped secure an army that was able to withstand the mighty British Empire.
So don;t hate the caste system's original intentions- it is what KEEPS us diversified.

-TT

Religion was something made up by some group of people in the old civilizations to maintain order in the society, have something to belong to or perhaps gain some power. People back then didn't have drugs for depression. So, they came up with stupid spiritual solutions and poor people fell for it. :P

Anyway, the government is taking baby steps towards making our country a better place to live for all its people, which is not bad at all. But changing the law isn't going to do anything if it's not being executed. Dalit system or caste system or whatever it is is directly related to our social class system. Until we have everybody in the same class, discrimination is not going to stop, and thats never going to happen. I don't know if any of you have ever passed by those "Podhe toles" in the valley, but I can assure you that no one would wanna be there for even 3 seconds. Its that bad! So yeah we have a law that says "No discrimination towards these people" but who would want these poor people in their shop/cafe/homes? Nobody. They stink, they're dirty, they don't bathe for months, what are you gonna do? The gov.'s gotta take the initiative to go out there and of course spend some real good money on poor people. Americans won the civil war against slavery a century ago, but does that mean discrimination towards black people doesn't exist anymore? I don't think so. Just a few days back, it was on the news how most mortgage companies always try to give high interest rates to black people and the minorities even when they're eligible for lower interest rates? They'd rather give white people lower interests than others. Not just that, we've lots of other issues that we normally don't see with a naked eye. Law may have changed, but the mentality hasn't! So, in this life, I don't expect to see Nepal as a caste free society until there is a big gap between the rich and poor. To fill that gap, lots need to be done...! :| which boils down to lots of other problems that we have. Not being a pessimistic, but...I don't see no light.

It is good to have an opportunity to all of us. We are similar like Americans. Americans don't distinguish touchable and untouchable. We all are human being,,,,,,, comn' yar,,,,,,,, I am a bahun keta ,,,,, but I feel so comfortable to bring my other cast friends into my home and eat same table. It is shame to us to say some other humanbeing is untouchable. It is 21 century's education and let's change to give equal right, and freedom to chose their wills. Let's say I have also an opportunity to get married to any gal,,, I don't need to look her cast and my parents retraction..............
See how nice to expand our society, big space and more option of choices....... We every one have red blood, and live as human being. Why not we must change our feelings........ I am looking different cast to get married. Comn people,,,,,,,, we have to change our Rudibadii system,,,,, respect everybody as a human.

Vishontar... I am not running away from hinduism... i am just trying to find the best FOR ME. It is not only the caste systme that might have spurred my enthusiasm towards Islam.... it could be various other things as well. I just wanted something more from life tahn just a day to day mundane existance. that doesn't mean that studying islam is just a vent to my frustration and psyche of wanting to do something daring. I really am learning to find something fulfilling for ME....which necessarily does not mean that it should work well for you. If every person would think as one exact person...entire world would have been constituted of just one kind of ppl... which in a way sounds great ..... except that ..that monochronic views in life would have kept us devoid of all this adventure of knowing and learning new things as well...

So.. if I am studying Islam and I think I like it as oppose to ever misleading media and a preconceived notion of Islam does not mean I am running away from Hinduism...Again... as I am totally open to all your suggestion and humbly trying to enlighten myself, i dont think i am committinga crime of the century. I am born hindu.... fine.... does that mean I HAVE to be a devout hindu? All these terrorists....who are so called muslims/// are born muslims... but they are not actual followers of Islam.... They are taking tit to the extreme...and I, as much as my affinity towards Islam, do not support all these unpeaceful acts. But...hey..... why blow things out of context? how about all those killings done in all muslim countries as well??? Killing is killing.... be it killing of muslims or hindus or budhists or christians or jews for that matter.Quranic phrases that many of your refer to calling for killing jews and infedals are quoted out of context. These instructions in Quran were given for specific battlesand for defense.
I recall the incident when Muhammad Ali.. The boxer was sent to jail because he would go on a war....because Islam does not permit you to fight with people who did not fight with you first. Again, just to stress my point.. i still think the sept 11 issue was a shameful act in the name of myuslims too. And I for one do not consider those terrorist the true muslims.
Well .... You guys are great... i am learning many new things. I just hope that you teach me ....but dont keep on making me feel like i am committing any crime. I told u all umpteens of time taht I AM STILL studying ISLAM...and I honor all your feelins in trying to share your knowledge with me... but bear with me and honor my feelings too.

Felicity : I feel same way about the terrorism.... The war in which there is no base.... i think that is the real threat of Islam as well.... because basically all religion teaches to live in harmony and peace. But terrorism really came out of nowhere??? In neari.. there is a saying :chakhuncha(n) kutikui..ko cha(n) twakka.... meaning..... for every reaction...there must remain some action to provoke it.

Vishontar says :
Caste system put me in shame. However, I don’t run away like Felicity. I fight against it.

felicity: The reason Islam seems likes a taboo religion also puts me in shame....However I dont let that bias myself to study something as controversial as this. I try to find the root of the causes of evil and aspire to learn about this religion, who has 1/3 rd of followers of world's population. I am not being conclusive yet.... as I am again... (redundently)....just a person in search of truth.... and still studying.

Felicty: Santosh, answer to Number one will depend on your own personal beliefs. And for number 2 ... if considering one god, one religion. and monotheis,...... what would be a perfect religion?...... THIS IS WHAT WE ALL OUGHT TO find the answers within our inner self. And for this, the most important thing is to THINK OUT OF AND BEYOND THE BOX. ........ to keep ourselves open to new avenues.... not that we are born hindus or muslims or christians or jews...and then that's it... thats what i am destined to be... No sir.... we need to think out of box... go out of ordinary to seek the truth and find what is best for yourself and the humanity.
You thought out of box... u carved the path of your life as u think was best///// as opposed to what priciples u grew with..by marrying someone whom your systme exclused as untouchable... that is NECESSARY..... and that is thinking out of box. aND...IF I, felicity, am trying to get out of the box i grew in and try to explore the things IN AND OUT of box..... then why can't that view be taken as healthy??

I didn't know they spell it this way!!" and on the last one you have "Caste System" and I was like "Ok! there you go!!" ---> If you make mistake, make it in perfection!! Like ..make similar mistake everywhere so that reader will know that it is "mistake". LOL!!!

However it does not make innocent non-believers as target of that force. In Islam ...It is considerd a crime to fight a person without any arms ( as in astra-sastra)....Quranic phrases that many of you refer to calling for killing infedals (or kafirs as been put) are quoted out of context. So...why .. only this issue is blown so our of proportion that a born hindu... ME...can not even try to enrich my knowledge about Islam? I mean...com on... ever since i wrote that I am studying islam... wow.. I am inundated with responses. But.... I am absolutely loving it..... coz.... along the line... you all are teaching me more things///

Thanks for the enlightment
