Hey friends
There would be a protest really in the NY city on Sept 16th. Please join us and let?s show our support to our Nepali brothers and sisters who are protesting unelected leader?s undemocratic actions. It is expected that king would be UN giving a hypocritical speech.

Since the king is comming all the way here.. there must be something for nepal... well he wont return empty handed i believe... but if he does.. then a different story.. but i would give him a chance to gain something for nepal.. i dont care who does it but its more about doing it than hoping things will be done..

About the king being not voted by the people... well which of the political leaders in the past have been voted by the people... note for a vote... thats what makes a leader in nepal... and the importance of monarchy... well atleast it hasn't been politicised... imagine the head of the state changing 5 times a year... and who will becomes the head of the state the most currupted people who are concentrated in nothing more than filling their pockets.

i believe that the king should be given a chance to clearify what his plans are and nepal's desperate need for foreign support in many factors... may be after this a child wont sleep hungry back home..

"imagine the head of the state changing 5 times a year... and who will becomes the head of the state the most currupted people who are concentrated in nothing more than filling their pockets."
1. Why imagine? We have already seen three kings in four days. Five times a year is a lot safer, especially if they are all janata ka chhori chhora haru.
2. And we already have some of the most corrupted people on earth in our royal palace.
So what are you afraid of--that things may get a little better for poor Nepalese in a democratic republic of Nepal?

I have no problem taking part in NY City.

People need to bring dhunga muda, spare car tires, massals etc.
That would be a real fun.

Lawyers and used car dealers are the worst professions after whores. Politicians rank just as high.

Demonstrate or not demonstrate, it's your birth right, if you are in the US. (In Nepal, you have to wacth out)

"ALL POLITICIANS ARE DIRTY."

If you also say what I quoted, why follow any politics?

Politics is dirty. Why give "mis"power to one over another. Just work hard, be a good citizen, and make a good living for yourself and your family. Unless, of course, if you aspire to be another corrupt politician.

Stop being a pawn.

anti monarqi - it is your fundamental rights to what ever you like to do, but, it seems like you tend to overlook ground reality in Nepal. You always mentioned 250 years of monarchy. but never pointed out what was wrong in those 250 years. Have you ever analyzed our history and current situation in positive ways in the perspective of strategic location of Nepal between China and India and attitude of India towards Nepal even in British Raj, geo-political situation, ethnic diversity, land-locked situation, and so on. You have to see all these perspectives from historical point of view? If you analyze these aspects then you will get clear picture of Nepal.

You have to also think why all parties had to run to New Delhi whenever there is a crisis in Nepal? Why they are asking India to interfere/intervene in Nepal to solve our internal problem? Do you think going for republic will solve such problem or escalate more? What will be the symbol of national unity in that scenario - India? We obviously neither want Nepal to be another Sikkim nor to remain as Bhutan.

There are many countries which are following their great historical traditions by following constitutional monarchy, yet they are still progressing. Why should Nepal import any system which was never in practice before? There has to be effective check and balance in any system and monarchy is playing such role since 1990. The present situation is an interim system when countries reached in to dead-lock of crisis. Countries excercised all alternates; in my opinion there was no viable alternate left to save the country. Yes, there was one more alternate - to give the power to Maoists - but I am sure even you do not wnat such alternate to be selected (unless you yourself are Maosits).

Therefore, I see NY City protest is aimless, waste of time and efforts and useless. This does not mean that you can not do such protest, you have every right to do so. Good luck.

ssNY,

Is that why you "stayed home" on March 27th, 2005? The pro-King rally? :p

PSC,

I have much to say against your views on the relevance of monarchy in Nepal, but I am frankly tired of repeating myself for now. Perhaps someday when the need to dig into Sajha archives and revive the old arguments becomes de rigueur, I will be obliged do so.

For now,

The aim of this upcoming rally is to create better awareness of the dire situation in Nepal. So, even though YOU may not agree with it, the rally is NOT aimless.

Some of us feel that the time to rigorously pursue the afore-mentioned goal is impeccable. So, even though YOU may not want to be part of it, the rally is NOT "waste of time and efforts" for us.

Therefore, since we have an aim and the unflinching urge to follow up on our aim, even though YOUR ideas may not conform with it, the rally is NOT useless.

What a fullo' crock! "Aforementioned", "di rigeur" (since when did you start to "speak" French?) "aforementioned goal is impeccable" "impeccable?????"

Why don't you just say ,"it is easy for us to shout for an hour and make an ass out of ourselves" than using words that are meaningless and even WRONG? AnilJShahi, you want to sound like a lawyer without checking your vocabulary and having no credential whasoever to be bearer of democratic principles. That goes to Nepe too.

As Khaobadi says why don't you and Nepe with anti monarqi (qi???) bring tires to burn? Are you going to smash some shop window too? Nepe must have had some experience on that. I am 100% certain.
