What basically happening here in this thread is few people (eg. Shirish) is defending Gagan Thapa with all their might. Then other skeptics like Pisces jumped in the bandwagon though he was skeptical at first. And some are downright non-believers like Premdai. Somewhat skeptical figure have jumped in the bandwagon because they might think that there are lots of supporters for Gagan in Sajha , which may or may not be the case in reality.

USA is very much Interested in Nepal. Half of Us Economy is supported by India and China(our neighbours). With the budget deficeit skyrocketing and their continual borrowing of $$$ from China to cover that is enough reason to see why Us Govt would be interested in that region. But the question is do we want Nepal to be another Haiti ? I DON"T THINK SO..

USA has no interest in Nepal whatsoever.Americans are worried that century is over.It is an asian century.And sandwiched between India and China Nepal has nothing to offer at this point.Only after feb. 1 move was the US worried esp.the senator from Vermont who mentioned Nepal on the sen. floor.If Bush is Thomas Jefferson why don't he go to Burma and replace the ruling military junta and insert Soo kyi in that place.Americans have no interest since we lack natural res. like oil.
It is only a flashy agenda to support the cause of freedom since they have to persuade the world about their presence in Iraq.And Gagan is in his naivity level of ground zero on this matter.

From a strategic point of veiw, Nepal is perfect spot to spy on both of them. Reconnaissance flights from the uncharted Mountainous region to both countries. Communication intercepts(thanks to the Himalayas), inteligence gathering etc etc. Cause in about 20yrs China will be a superpower, and you know USA would wanna keep tabs on whats goin on in there. Same way India will not be on the same pace(all the Id thefts, credit card frauds, etc etc that are taking place because of OUTSOURCING), but them being a nuclear power and their quarrells with the Paaki's...to be continued latr

Bcoffee,I think america will be in the verge of collapse by then.Reason the failure of american policy in Iraq .And I think economic power not the military power will be a decisive factor on the world affais in the years to come.Chinese economy will direct China into a superpower but the problem is they will have this huge lower-middle class not as well-off as the american middle class today which seem to widen the gap between the upper class and lower class huge chinese population.Few years from now a different social-revolution in china is inevitable unless they fix the problem now.Indians will have the same problem as the gap seem to widen between rich and the poor.There is a huge diff. between bangalore and bihar and shanghai and rest of the rural china.Chinese dominance hence seem short-lived.
Back to America.The huge energy crisis will cost both american image and their might.Nepal's role still looks unimportant in this scenario.

The thread started with title ".... NETA.....", and then we learnt that Gagan lecturing in USA firmly claiming he is NOT a LEADER.

There is no point continuing this thread.... title and discussion do not match anymore.

To me, Gagan trying to convince people in USA that he is not a leader cast dark doubt on him!!!!!

Therefore, I urge people to consider this grave situation and be prepared not to be duped by Gagan or Gagn like people (sorry leaders).

That is the whole point.To this point he seem to carry that baggage from Nepali janata ko backyard,if he looses that they will have different.I told him I will be with him as long he doesn't compromise.And by the time he emerges as a senior leader Nepalis will be more aware and democratic norms will start to reflect from everywhere.Prem_dai,these debates about some political figures are baseless, ideals are important.The devastation of last fourteen years of our blindedness gave birth to corrupt figures who were probably as vibrant and as bright as Gagan seems today.Lets leave it to history.
