TGIF! Hope everyone is doing well. Time's flying by pretty quick. Tihar is almost around the corner. Speaking of which I hope everyone had a nice Dashain celebration. For those students stuck in what seems like the middle of nowhere. Enjoy life within the four walls of the college if that's what you have right now, while you can. College is definitely the best time in life yet we tend to want to complain about it tirelessly. Being human we can't be satisfied with anything can we? Well, at least we can try.

I had been meaning to add this small feature in sajha which would have meant a lot as far as retaining lot of great writers in sajha. I have to blame nothing else but myself for being lazy enough to not think it through and implement it. Because of my lazyness of sorts, sajha has lost or has been missing a lot of brilliant writers. Many new members have not had the opportunity to reading from many great writers who have taken a leave of absense from sajha.

I'm hoping it's not a permanent leave, and I hope users like yourself can help bring them back. Writers like sajha gazer, ashu, john galt, sitara, juggy, sum_off, amber, nk, najar, isolated freak, lot of whom are from long time back and only a few of you oldies may remember them. In fact there are many others and I hope you can help me in filling up those names. In any case, here's what I have put in sajha so that hopefully we can retain good writers in sajha if not bring back other good writers who have decided to melt into oblivion from the world of sajha.

I have added a [subscribe] feature next to each members name in posting, as well as in the userinfo page for any user, whereby registered members can subscribe to the writer. When you subscribe to a writer, your name is shown in the subscribers list under the writers profile. This is the essence of this very simple addition. Another important part of this feature is the email notification. There will be two kinds of notification emails being sent out every night at 11:30 pm. The first notification goes out to all users who have subscribed to anyone - if the subscribed writer has written anything in the past 24 hours. You will get notification of posts by your favorite writers in the last 24 hours if you have subscribed to any writers.

The second notification goes out to the writers informing them who have subscribed to their postings in the last 24 hours. This can serve to be a reminder and acknowledgement to writers who have left sajha for good that their writings are still being cherished here in sajha. For active writers it can serve to be an encouragement.

I hope you will use this feature to help sajha users have more access to more excellent writings, stories and other interesting information.

You can find a member by using the "SEARCH MEMBER" feature above the Vianet banner on the right. When you click on the members name in search result, you will get to the user info page where you can see the [subscribe] link on the same line as the username.

Happy Subscribing to many good things to come.

Warm wishes for a happy and prosperous Tihar.

Please use table below to subscribe to these excellent writers. We would like to see them back in sajha. If I have missed any please let me know via this thread so I can add to the quicklist below.

Before you guys jump to conclusions, I was banned back in the days when temporary bans were in effect. Recently I was also banned from the chat room for 3 to 4 months(when Samsara and i were going at each other, you can check with him cause he blames me for getting us both banned). Did you hear me complain even once when I was banned ? Nope(cause I knew I was wrong). I sense nothing but sour grapes phenomenon here.

Everyone here wants to mold this site into what they think is right for us. And when San refuses to submit to that... they cry foul. Of course you cannot make everyone happy, and San has made a very very hard effort to please everyone. Of course there will always be a few rotten apples in a harvest whom we have to discard.

I am not trying to be a smartass here.. just trying to clarify things. It is a height of hypocrisy when ppl like Chor start throwing stones when they themselves live in a glass house.

Aight fellas, having watched this drama unfurl for far too long, I just couldn't resisit pouring in my 2 cents in as this whole he-said, she-said scenario is just outright depressing. As far as I see, San bro has tried his level best in explaining his reasonings (and answers to every accusations pointed at him) in PLAIN ol' english and yet, peeps find that hard to comprehend. Hell, even if I was Ghengis Khan, I'd have put my pride down by now and accepted the explanation and humbleness of the admin who has been doing everything to express HIS remorse and other rationally acceptable point of views that even a 5th grader would've understood!!

Trying to analyze the onslaught of accusations (which have bored me thoroughly by now as the repetition proves that these foolios either don't understand San's answers because it is in simple English or they're just too stuck up with their pea-sized ego), it seems that the ones distraught will continue to be so no matter what...Rationalizing with them is futile!! And, do any of you silent viewers on this thread see what I do?? Its only a few (4-5) peeps who have a problem against what San is trynna propose and seem to blame him for what transpired here since time immeorial. As FDR once used Burke's words to state, "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men stand by and do nothing", so too is the case here today. I've always believed that the beauty of sajha is its silent majority...They are the ones who help various threads reach a 1000 hits (even though we may only see 2-3 posts/replies) and they are the VERY ones needed today to stand in support of San's very important cause that's being undertaken here. On viewing the posts of the unsatisfied posters of sajha above, I see a case akin to the sugar lobbyists in Washington who bring forth a few thousand paid, slogan-wielding homeless freaks to rally in support for tarrifs and quotas on foreign sugar imports so that the sugar price could remain as high as it is here (as compared to the the world price levels)...A case where a few thousand business owners/profiteers of the sugar industry make the remaining 300 million face the consequences.  This is exactly whats going on here...4-5 peeps trynna determine the voice for the few 1000's of members here?  This is goddamn ridiculous!!  C'mon all ya silent peeps, it's about time we let out our support out instead of letting unnecessary evil prevail (the one's trynna bring about all the blame on someone for something that clearly is their own fault). Its about time we let the nay-sayers know that what they accuse is NOT the voice of the majority!!

BTW, About 2-3 months ago, I too started a thread trying to bring back Captain Haddock, the conscience of Sajha as I have often called him (that thread has been deleted since thanks to the exploits of a few FOBs here who instead of discussing a topic at hand would rather resort to personal attacks). Though it seems he has moved on or prefers using another pseudonym, it is his personal choice (I respect that) BUT at the same time, I'd love to read his posts and would be more than delighted to read any new post of any of the above mentioned members who've seemed to have taken their hiatus pretty seriously. Could you all come back and give me the pleasure of reading your posts?? LOLs

San bro,

I subscribed probably 9 of sajha writers after you informed us about this new feature in sajha. Now I am getting lots of email daily in my email address. It's good to be informed but I don't want this many mails in my email address. I don't know what could be the good alternative for it.

Instead of emails, what if you have a small box somewhere which gives a list of all new feeds for the subscribers if any of their subscribed authors has posted something.

WOWOW.. BathroomCoffee...

When did I throw any stones at anybody, I am a nepali, aai lageny mathi jai lagney ho dwag... and you are the most foulmouthed dude I have ever met.. you always think you are better than everyone here.. I agree you write good things, but you tend to poke in other peoples business all the time... I mean all the time.. how many people here are complaining about me??? and how many are complaining about you??? Why was that last line targeted towards me??? see all the threads, you are the one who starts with me.. not me!!!!

OK guy's about the Hacking of IP address issue's... Please rephrase it properly, it is not called Hacking... It is called banning an IP address??? SAN-MAN --> I think this is what the guy's are trying to say... please don't take it the other way, it is banning IP address's and you can do that as an admin,

Hacking--> it means someone tries to break into your network or computer and tries to destroy your computer or tries to steal your information....

Banning --> this is simple, all you do is block your IP address .. it can be unblocked...

SAN --> I never knew I could lobby for my banned username.. I will write you an email about that.. I would love to get my banned username back.... I never knew I could have asked you to restablish it again...

Well Guy's don't be angry at SAN, he has done all of a favor by creating this site after NepalSearch.com was lost to us because Kunga decided to make money by selling it... This is the most happening website now in the USA.. I enjoy coming to this site and reading the posts and writing back on it... I know SAN personally, he is a very nice dude, you can tell by all the replies he has written here.. see there has to be policies put in place so it doesn't become disoderly ... Be nice to him.,. we are in his house.. he is not in our house.. let's play by the house rule...
and let's kick ToiletMouth's arse.. hahahahahahahaha

As Isolated Freak’s message gives a glimpse, the old “good” writers have moved on with their new priorities and niche. We probably can not bring at least most of them back.

However, we can certainly strive to bring back the old vibrancy and atmosphere by creating an atmosphere that encourages new “good” writers.

From my observation, the most important component of that encouragement is simply preventing them from being discouraged.

Many posters have pointed to the profanity and abuses that exist in Sajha as possible discouragement. However, I think the real (decisive one) discouragement is the lack of a critical mass of “good” writers/commentators.

“Good” writers can ignore (or learn to ignore) abuses if there exists other stronger incentives. But they can in no way ignore the lack of quality comments and responses.

So, I think once you somehow have a critical mass of “good” writers/commentators, you are good to go and sustain.

How to get that critical mass ?

That is a million dollar question. I wish I had the answer.

Nepe

Stop it Nepe. You gave me attitude. I can't stop laughing at you after reading what you just posted. LOL

The thread tries to bring back old writers. and you're pulling out the environment and all. The heck. OLD of course has a taste. Oh ya? old rums...........OLD has spectacular legacy but not necessarily always good. There's no doubt you are one of the most intellectual here in Sajha ( not self acclaimed, he is a real time prof: FYI to those who is uninformed)and I would not hesitate to expend the entire word power to acknowledge your contribution in SAJHA literature.

Yet, by bringing up the un-necessary issue of environment and framing the change in sajha as a nuisance, you made me laugh. Read your post nepe. How many times have you stressed on word "GOOD" with "OLD" writers. All we know you are good writer. But still to me it seem somewhat akward. "PACHENA=UNDIGESTED" I guess, that's what we call it in nepali community.

Nepe,
1. Very rare people are blessed with natural talents like you. Most of them have to act on it with huge investment of time and motivation to get there. If a master like you try to discourage new folks who is gonna walk a way you pave? Who will continue your hardwork? Don't you think its time for you to "RETIRE" from sajha? Common dude, you already in Senescent ( just the emotional act may not be physical) or you are planning to play "HONEYMOON again" here in sajha. " No retirement plans, yet?"
2. Sajha is a straight forward name and it means it. If you wanna stamp it with particular bunch of people "OWN IT FIRST" . " BAATO MA AAYER GUITAR BAJAUNE LE GAALI PANI PAAUCHA TAALI PANI PAAUCHA"  Not all celebs are liked by all. and also not necessarily every qualities of a liked celeb is praised.

I am trying to make my ICON a hundred % perfect. There is still some time before you retire.
Have fun DUDE!!!

Chor,"You are the most foulmouthed dude I have ever met" ok fine !! I swear a lot.. does not make me a bad person.

Chor,"You always think you are better than everyone here." I have never ever ever claimed that I am just your average guy.

Chor,"But you tend to poke in other peoples business all the time." Well this is a sajha forum isn't it ? It is a public forum you will get both +ve and -ve reaction. If you do not want public to react to your coments then what is the point of posting something in public.

Chor,"How many people here are complaining about me??? and how many are complaining about you???" Maybe I ticked them all off with my coments. Maybe I did not agree with what they said. Maybe I used too much profanity on them. I don't know why they are ticked off at me !! After all I am a human being(sometimes I am angry, happy, sad etc etc)and I am not perfect like you.

I targeted you because you were the one who started off with me first. Look back to your posts.

And you are taking a JAB at San because he banned your last username. Therefore SOUR GRAPES. San has bent over backwards to please everyone. But still ppl are complaining.

BC
Where did you see me take a jab at SAN-MAN... please tell me..

Now you are accusing me of things I haven't done or said....

And dude, I never said I was perfect... nobody is perfect but we can always strive for perfection... but still I am not perfect, I will never be perfect cause I am passed that stage.. you can't teach an old dog new tricks.. I am at that stage.. I am fine the way I am...

But still.. I am glad you agreed that you are not perfect and yes it is true, it's a public forum and you have the right to post on other people's post, but maybe we can post replies without cursing maybe... joking is a different thing, but you seem to be serious about everything..

NarayangadhSuburb,

Why are you so hard on Nepe? Why are you exposing his personal information which is not important to Sajha.com?

I fully agree with your question when you asked him, "How many times have you stressed on word "GOOD" with "OLD" writers?"

Why are you asking him to resign from Sajha.com? Why should he resign? If McCain is resigning, why should Nepe resign? Nepe is a mavrick. He was already tested in Sajha.com, my friend. Writing stuffs in Sajha.com is not an on the job training.

Bill Clinton said last night that Obama has 4 qualities: a. Philosophy b. Policy c. Decision, and d. Execution. What are most important qualities that Sajha.com should have to make vibrant?

1. Membership - it has.

2. Content - it does have diverse content.

3. Critical Mass of posters. It does have.

4.  Protection against malacious attack - I doubt.

5. Keep moving with issues -- These old gold posters failed to move with new topics, and their all new ideas are drained.

6. Connection to Nepal or Nepali Medias in Nepal -- Sajha.com has not been successful to link to neither Nepal nor to the ANA or other like "Elitist" groups. It has mere served as a picture gallery, not beyond it. People in Sajha.com are not recognized elsewhere, so Sajha.com is just a hangout place. It could not serve as a PoliticoNepal.com. No one cites it. At least MySansar.com has had several interviews in Nepali Media, but Sajha.com was never ever reported in Nepal and Nepali Media.

7. Postings in Black hole - All old gold postings are in black hole, and they have no relation to the on going postings. Well, San can have a program that related to those old gold postings: relevant past postings on the subject. Ask these thread originators to give keyword when they initiate the thread, and San can try to link them to old gold postings: Provide links at the bottom of Thread. It can elevate the thread, and also avoids repetition of the contents in the old postings. It also gives preview of the old gold writers.

8. Create a list of ghost administrators based on past postings. Let these admins rate the postings, and if the average rating goes below 1 (i.e. D) in a scale of 0 -4, remove the thread or posting. For example, if the first 10 admins rate the thread or posting as a low graded item for public consumption, send the thread or posting to black hole or purge it from the list. Keep the info on these admins. In order to remain admin, the admin needs to participate in these discussions. Give and take responsibilities. It will minimize the job to San. These admins should be volunteers. It can force the writers to behave little better in public forum like this one.

Saaaaaaaaaaan bro, it's not fair. Why was my thread "The Lost Writer is Baaack ! " deleted? All my writing effort went in vain. Is this how you want to get your lost writers back ? Can't I express my stories exotically, something totally sensual and new in sajha... something that brought some freshness and excitement in here ... something that made people wanna read more from Nas, "the Lost Writer" !!!!

My album was deleted, I can't write in blog too... my post in blog does not show up in Sajha homepage...

I think Nas is the most censored person in Sajha... Nas has almost become Persona-Non-Grata in Sajha.

I dont' agree with your no.8 CEO
not at all... than there will be monopoly... this is democracy, who cares if sajha doesn't get mentioned in Nepali Media... freaking nepali media sucksssssssss big time.. it blows condoms... most writers have no skills,.. most news is no news... they dont' even research before they say it is a news... so what so what so what..

SAJHA Rocks USA... and who said SAJHA is not heard or seen in ANA.. dude come to ANA and you will sajha goers, sajha posers and SAN MAN hisself there....

NEPE chor ho.. .I dont' like his postings he does dhippi all the time, he says he is right. he is a communist.. what else you want me to say about NEPE.... I can do on and on and there are many posters like me here in sajha who can on and on about NEPE.. he is privilaged one.. he himself brought his identity in the limelight in sajha ASHU..

He is a public property in Sajha and elsewhere now..... We don't like NEPE and his Idea's.... he lives in america and advocates socilism in nepal... dude I am sorry I am rantting and raving here.. but NS has the right to diss NEPE.. You should have read his postings during the revolution... that is why he pissed so many people in Sajha.. that is why he doesn't frequent sajha like he used tooo...

sorry for ranting on you just like that... I am not asking him to leave, but he left himself... there is going to be no red carpet for NEPE or anyothers here...

what i mean by hacking ?

i mean is giving virus...

i got virus from visiting sajha.com .. its true u can get virus from visiting websites.. it sounds like it cant be.. but u have to trust me. i had 3 months of hell... it was opening so much porn websites and making my computer soooo slowwww..

my computer was fine.. all of a sudden 1 day i got banned and then i got virus.. and all that bad things happened.. i had to format my compueter... lost all my files and then re-install my fake windows all over again...

http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/66304

Is it possible to get a virus just from visiting a website ?

if your browser doesn't have all of its security updates applied - then vulnerabilities exist that makes malware even easier to get on your computer via your browser (Firefox included - although Firefox has fewer known bugs than IE). Matter of fact, the same goes for your Windows updates. If you don't have them - you're a ticking time bomb and you don't even have to start surfing web pages to get infected!
