I spent couple of years of my highschool age in Bhojpur Bazar.

I feel like there are at least a few Sajhain from Bhojpur. Let's talk about our memories too.

Balaramji, thank you for starting this thread. I have never been to that district and do not have any close connections either, yet thoroughly enjoyed reading the thread.

That bridge join Bhojpur & Dhankuta(i m not 100% sure). It is "simle pul" over Arun on the way to Chatara->Barachhetra->Ghodetar . Tamore pul is 30min walk near to that one.
It was once wiped out by Arun. I used to enjoy coooollllllllllll air in the middle of that bridge while crossing it.

i am neither from bhojpur nor do i have anyone there in bhojpur but i have been to that place in 2003/04. that visit was kinda unforgettable for us. i stayed there on and off for lil more than two months. i was there for field visit and stuff with my friends and i really liked the place and mostly those nice people and their hospitality.we were still in bhojpur bazaar when moaists attaked bhojpur bazaar. we could hear the salvo and firing sound the whole night and it was heart wrenching when we saw the aftermaths of the attack. the places i visited in bhojpur were annapurna (ki ke re ???) and places near khotang boarder...where we had an unexpected encounter with platoon of maoist militias, many with fresh injury from the attack. one of commanders came to us and had some friendly chat and that was really impressive.....and been to yaku... ani tyo sankhuwa sawa khandbari bhanda wari ko thau ke re i forgot that place name...teha dherai rudraksha pauthyo. ani been to south of bhojpur, is that ghodetar, hhmmmm......damn i forgot all those names. yeah been to many places over there kati hidiyo kati teha but i know thats everyday life of people out there.

btw, don't the local people from bhojpur bazaar pronounce bhojpur something like "bhochhur" if i am not mistaken. that was interesting......and i still remember our 12 something hours walk from bhojpur bazaar to pakhribas via phalate.... crossing arun bridge .....and the most embrassing part was that local people can conquer that distance in mere 4-5 hours. LOL oohh yeah forgot to mention i have a friend from bhojpur bazaar named udim rai if anyone here knows him

Dream catcher, you are absolutely right, we, primarily senior people pronounce it as भच्चुर. Looks like you have visited more places than I have done.

Annapurna, yea, if that is the plance in western part of the district. pandhaare could be a place where you encountered the maoists.

I was in Bangkok when that tragidy happened. My in-laws house was right next to the Army camp, in norhtern side, I was terribly worried when I heared that news. Fortunalely, nothing bad happened to my in-laws family other than several bullet holes in the walls of the house.

You must have walked to deurali, about 1 KM west of the main bajar. about 1 KM down the hill from there is where I was grown up. As I went through your memories, remembered several of those who were guests while I was doing high school in Bidhodaya.

Thanks for sharing your feelings here in this thread, it makes me so happy to listen from the people like you who love the place as a visitor. As you know, not many people visit my place and it so great that you have been to there, and spent that long.

No relation at all, bikash ji. I even did not know that there is a bhojpuri language down in the plain, until I first moved out of the district.

That was the most frequenly asked question to me, no wonder at all.

However, there is a district called Bhojpur in northern india too, which may have some connection with bhojpuri, just my guess.

bhojpur euta paschim ko jillla
ma pare madhe paschimanchal jilla ko descendent
i mean i was born n raised in narayangarh
but my root is from baglung
my q is related to nepali log-geet
madhye-paschim(i didnt mean sudur paschim) ka geet especially from kaski, baglung, parbat, myagdi, tanahun, lamjung are more appealing than purbako ho?
even we listen at nepali radio tv, we hear more of songs from that area
many singers r also from that area(i dont remember any from purba now)
purba ka geet haru ali thado khal ko ho?
those my thoughts,no segregational feelings
just pointing out rich diverse nepali
