Sometimes someone are so hard to forget!! Thoughts hunting you each moment! But again, I believe in leaving behind all memories and move on to catch new ones! The heart speaks the language which brain can't control but can only desire to keep it under its par! But still somethings heart do is not right!! I won't be judgmental about you, But for me I have got over my heart and moved on; still sometimes thoughts hunts as tiny myriads and I just wish to throw my heart away!!
A very good read John! I enjoyed every sentence, every words and every letters! Felt like reading my own story!! :)
Keep moving on; Thats all life is about!! :D

.

Worldmaven,
Thanks for kind words, but if it were a disaster, it was my call.

I am OLD,*coughs ;_)

I could sense two meanings out of this!

1. If it were a disaster, it would be your call [ not the cell-phone talks, i am referring to] to get out of it. I meant this, and if this is the correct interpretation i got from your lines, i agree.

2. If it were a disaster, it was my call. If i interpret it the other way: or if you meant that it was your call which led her to talk those "legal" stuffs to you, and you call it a disaster, i disagree.

Contrary to the belief you possess: that you could love two person at a same time, i say: You cannot love two women at the same time ever!

My suggestion: for you being such a humble human being, why lose both of them ?

[ again: everything i write, is upon my perception and my judgment. I am sorry to perceive things differently, if it was not meant as it is, and i am sorry for the judgment either. BUT , the freedom of speech, i got, right ? ]

Nonetheless, this write-up is a masterpiece! : )

John ji,
What I read from ur piece, I concluded that She was a old flame of yours, innit? So I would say that old flames could burn ur heart again!! I know how it works when you meet someone whom u had so much love before; but the question is what would you feel if your wife has done same thing as you have!! Would that not burn you down? If it would not have affected you and you would have understood it then it certainly is justified but if that would have made you miserable then you sure are as sinner as you can be! Sometimes after committing your love to someone for a lifetimes and seven more, you have to sacrifice your inner desire and if necessary kill them; Not easy, but its certainly essential because u can't afford to break the heart u care for do you??
Just an rant because u wanted me to be judgmental! I would not say you are pervert but rather say u were controlled by heart rather than head! :)
P.S.- I would salivate on racy pics of actresses, specially Aish making me infidel innit?? :P

forgot to add. dammit, another reason to have preview option in here.
Even though the story is filled with guilt and seems like the blame goes more to HER, you let it out. fact or fiction, sharing helps don't it?

Mr hyde,
My story lacks moral because I do not come under a category of Wordsworth or Shakespeare. Infact, I am such a confused writer that I glean morals construed by readers which I could have never known otherwise. But no, I am not genuflecting, I still insist in at least talking to her, merely likeliness does not mean cheating a consort, there are a lot of other things involved in it. If it was a mistake I was simply honored that I at least had sometime to talk to a better person than me.

Nepalonmymind,
If I could convince my wrongdoing to other people through my amateur writing, then I am the biggest pervert of all, I am not trying to convince anyone here, it is just my way to vent frustrations and event that shook me for the past few months. Your words make me smile everytime I read them, I am a weak person brother, certainly not worthy of such an adulation. I highlight SHE in uppercases because I still consider as a deity, it is just like we address HIM. As far as there was an issue of my wife sharing emotions with someone else that was beyond her effort to reach it, believe me, I could have understood that.

Oldmaven,
What an apt analytical reply, this is what I love the best about sajha, almost everyone is a crème de la crème here. You should have undergone all that painstaking work to analyze what I meant, or perhaps you have deciphered more than me what was in between those lines. The disaster here meant the entire effort to court someone out of my conjugal life, courting however was limited to few cups of coffee, and hours of phone calls, I should have been satisfied with that. But yes, it was my call, there might have been a little provocation from her point, but I take the entire blame over myself.

Juggy,
Thanks for replying back, actually I am not such a patient person that I would rekindle the wick of affection after having lost someone, it happened impromptu. For the second part of the your query, please refer to the last sentences written to Nepalonmymind.

Redstone,
Been a long time, but no…the blame goes only to her mood swing if you prefer to rummage the lines again, the entire guilt was mine, it was just like falling into a quagmire with a smile on my face. As far as writing is concerned, you know I am an old school, wish I could write like those energetic newbies. Thanks for visiting brother.

hyde,
sorry, i misspelt morale as moral the way I misspelt pinocchio talking to someone else at sajha yesterday, see I make frequent errors.

Rhythm,
Long time girl? Where were you hiding, I just happened to write this anecdote out of my ever careening emotion that you guys found worth reading. My family is fine, they are in New York now, little angel chose to make friends with monsters, monsters of sesame street.

John, this writing of yours is such an amazing piece of literature that I couldn't resist the temptation to commend you. Its exceptionally well written to say the least.
But may be the magic of this story and the spell she has cast on your heart , which you believe is love, wouldn't have remained the same had your anticipation been accomplished that long night.
I would say don't indulge too much on the offer she made and deprived you of later on, for it may just be the tipping point after which you'd have to redefine the meaning of love time and again. I liked the writer John Galt much more than the character John Galt in this story. Keep writing sir.

And congratulations Sitara.

John, had I wrote the same thing in other people's thread, they would have seethed and cursed and wrote something like "u r right" just to keep up their online persona pleasing. Or ignored it, if the ego can't handle it. Thank you for not doing that.

Ok lemme reply to your comments.
I am not talking about love, one can love as many women as one wants to. One crosses the line when one actually has "sex" and confuses love with it. Once married, one should NOT use sex as an excuse for showing love to other besides one's wife. That's the whole principle of marriage!

Call me an old fashioned conservative if you will.

Just sharing opinions! Let's agree to disagree.

This I believe (in the tradition of NPR):

I believe in the power of fiction; in my ability to invent, erect, destruct, destroy, lubricate, luxuriate and fabricate scenes, events, emotions, illnesses, retardations, neurosis, psychosis, to obssess, to commit adultry, murder, according to my whims and fancies, at the time I sit down to punch keys and put pen to paper! I believe in the power of fiction to narrate to, fixate on, seduce others with my words, stories, anecdotes and whimsies!
With that notion, I believe in creating characters, tweaking events and inflating effects with the sole intension of literary art. I believe in the craft of writing as art for art-sake!
I believe in giving you, the freedom to interpret my characters as you wish and desire-- to your satisfaction or dissatisfaction, to titilate your senses and your non-senses.
This I believe!
*Sitara*

Hi John, after this loooooong speech, I need a gilass of waterrr! ;) If I broke your heart, there will be many to mend it!

Dear friends and wellwishers, Rythm, Audry, Redstone,Thanks you, simply!

Kalanki, timi ayenow--my lawn remained unmowed; my snow piled high! :)

Oys, how's schooling going on? Looong time. :)

meera - I didn't really want to comment but I couldn't help myself. I think the whole point of John's story was kind of to show that one can love more than one women and you agree with this but crossing the boundary? doesn't that really depend where people come from? I thought his point was: who defines what the boundary is? his wife? I guess you were talking about the society we live which is like you said: “Not one of them said anything about his cheating on his wife. Why do our society oks for a married male to cheat, reverse the position and all hell breaks loose.”
If you can love more than one women then why can’t you have sex with more than one women? It’s not like polygamy isn’t practiced anymore.
Hmm..i guess I am trying to say that marriage isn’t really all about sex like you’ve put it. Don’t you think there’s more to marriage than just sex? The whole principal of marriage is a lot more than how you’ve put it. Cheating on his wife okay that’s not good because we said so, wait you said so or cause I said so??
Exactly what he’s trying to say!! You and I said he can’t love more than one women so it makes it wrong? So it’s called cheating on his wife?
What about societies where fraternal polyandry is practiced? So brothers share one women, I mean is she cheating on all of them? How would you place something like that?
So, the whole point is that everything is just constructed that way so we tend to think of oh wow he likes her and he like her too!! He can’t do that.
Why not?
I don’t know if you got what I was trying to say. But that’s just how I thought of it. Everything is constructed by us. Our culture, our views and how we think one think is wrong and something else is right. Just like how women who work in homes are given less prestige then women who work in a social atmosphere. Who says that women who are housewives have a job that’s less important than women who are surgeons?
And that’s probably why there’s so much tension between wives and husbands. I mean they can’t even talk freely and say that did something because it would be considered wrong??
At the same time if there wasn’t something that was considered to be wrong, then could you do anything you wanted?
And I guess there’s not much we can do but just go with the flow of what everyone thinks. So that there are no finger pointed at us because we’re following the rules made up by god knows who!!

Anyways, John isnt’ that what you were trying to show or what were you trying to show? Other than what we all know that you’re a superb writer. :D

PS: Meera, don’t get me wrong, I also wouldn’t be a happy women if my husband were to cheat on me!! See how I am already part of this bubble too. Lol!!

Lets enjoy the fiction. I can't understand why we are trying to dig the moral out of the story. I think someone(maybe BP, not sure) well said 'Sahitya Nango Huncha' so at least I dont care if John cheated or not as I am here to enjoy the story. Lets keep the subject of honesty, illicit relationships, affairs to be dealt by the Court of Justice or some other Bureau.
No Offence.

John -

Liked the story. A bold theme no doubt but very well expressed and written. I absolutely agree with all those saying it is the writer's prerogative to do what he or she wants with their characters and story lines.

To me a story or movie is not so much about expecting to read or see things I like and agree with. Rather, it is about hearing what the writer or director is trying to say - even if - I'd go as far as saying especially if - they say things you don't agree with.

I clearly have my own views on the moral issue a story like this raises but thats not what I came here to read. I came to read a story and on that account, I commend you once again for a job well done.

Keep it up!

Best wishes.

Nails, if I am getting this correct, you would mind if your husband cheated on you but you think its ok for other people's husband to cheat on their wife?
Interesting!

In fraternal or maternal Polygrandy, the guy or the girl is MARRIED to all the people, hence the question of cheating does not exist.

For me, marriage represents emotional and physical love to ONE person only.

Feel free to disagree

First of, I do not want to be disrespectful to anyone here.

I have read Meera's comments on other threads too. Without being biased, what I have noticed is she speaks her mind but she does persuade me to think from her point of view quite convinced.

Nails!
I did read your comment with some difficulty for its length. You say it's okay for numerous brothers to share one wife. When such social practices were/is acceptable, in an agragrian society the rules were/are already accepted before marriage by all stakeholders that she will be sleeping with every one of them no matter how proportionately, but in a proportion that will not deprive of loving bliss to some particular brothers and in a frequency that will not start a row among them.

To put it in short as another commenter put it previously which I agree with. A cheating husband in general should have no problem being cheated by his wife in turn. In sleeping outside the marriage is the way to go, it will be better for both of them if they arrange a swinging arrangement to satisfy their most carnal fantasies with other aspiring couples which is not too bad as they mutually agreed to do that within a marriage agreement. But a spouse cheating on another behind the back could also be a great source of lethal communicable diseases. If any spouse has a constant desire of going with multiple partners behind one's partner's back then a divorce settlement is the gateway to such liberty.

It's tax-season and we should ponder over how much one of the most free nations in the world values the institution of marriage for its success. Study shows infidelity is the number one cause of divorce.

It is quite an anamoly that most guys on this thread are supporting the sanctity of marriage while some girls are portraying some animal instincts. What is the world coming to?

PS:- Mr. Galt, 'awesome writing!' would be an under-rating.

Meera - see the thing is you're not getting it correct!! I am saying that it's constructed in our mind. It's all made up. That's the society we live in. Just like i said i wouldn't like my husband cheating on me. I was brought up to think that way.
I was pointing out that like you, i also am part of this whole made up thing. It's just how our culture and the rules are set up. I don't know if you still don't get it and think that I am saying it's okay!! Cause i am not saying whether it's okay or not, all I am saying is we're part of this thing that's all made up. We think that the rules set up are what we have to follow otherwise we would be doing something wrong. But the question is are the rules always right? Just like you think "marriage represents emotional and physical love to ONE person only" - how do you come up with something like this??
Maybe it's the culture you grew up in or maybe it's how you've always felt. No matter what it is, it's what someone following the rules would say.

So, the thing I am trying to say is are the rules right?? like who made up the rules to say that it's right? And like i said before, DON'T get me wrong again, I also think just like you do. :)

And I think you meant polyandry not polygrandy right? and I don’t think there is something as maternal polyandry because polyandry means when a wife has more than one husband. and when a man has more than one wife then it's called polygyny. Sorry i just had to point that out! :)

by using polygamy as an example I was trying to show that the women is having sex with more than one person. Okay she is married. So, are you saying it's okay if polygamy exists in our society. I mean you would be fine with your husband having three other wives?? Exactly my point!!! see now you're probally mad at me and saying why would i want my husbands to have three other wives, i am the only one for him and all that. See that's the thing. Who said that was wrong? Why can't we be fine with that? I mean really why can't we just turn our society into something where everyone marries everyone and we can have sex with whoever we like!! - just reading this sentence everyone will think i am crazy right??
Exactly what I am trying to say, why are our brains and cultures and rules set up this way? Who made the rules to say what's right and what's not right?
It just seems like no one wouldn’t understand if we did love more than one person and were intimate with more than one person. Cause we've been taught it's wrong.

wow that was a lot of rambling. Hope you got what i meant this time around correctly!! :)
Let me know if you are still confused! :)
:D

mR. hydE – From what I have just stated. I hope that you understand what I meant now!! Hopefully!! :)

and
Captain Haddock – hmm….I don’t know I am still upset after I got dumped!! I think you really should set a new date for lunch!! ;)
:D
