धेरै कोशीश गरियो, तर पनि त्यो नेपालको जस्तो रसिलो मो मो र अचार बनाउन सकिएन। लौ न कोइ नेपालमा मम पसल गरेर बस्नेले यसो सल्लाह दिनु पर्‍यो। अब त्यो ज्यापुले बेच्ने भैंसीको जस्तो मासु चाइ यहाँ छैन, भये त अती सुन्दर हुने थियो,,,कुखुरो खसी या कालो बदेलको मासुमा बनाउने तरिकाको कुरो है।

golveda polney until it gets squishy you will see that the cover seems burnt ani noon khursani cumin powder corriander powder ginger garlic timur(if u can find it), ani tyo poleko golveda, lime juice halera  grind garne. grinder bata nikalera rakhey pachi jeera ra sukeko rato khursani le jhanne.i dont add besaar as it makes the achar yellowish which i don't like however it's upto the achar makers preference.

 

i think this is the simplest way. if anyone has idea about how to make achar with teel ko dhulo please post. tried it once with teel but it did not taste right.

Cyberlegend,  let me recall one of my old times...


I used to live in koteshor, nearby mahadevthan, to be more specific - if you keep walking on the road, right hand side of police station in koteshor, for almost 45 minutes, you will get to a metal suspended bridge. I lived very close to that bridge, nearby Sankhamul. There were just a handful of houses around at that time. Honestly, we had a big fear of beast during nights at that time, its like somewhere at the middle of "charkoshe jhadi" then. And if you cross the bridge, you will be in a big farmland next to couple huge abandoned ponds belong to patan's jyapus. we used to buy vegetables from them all the time. every morning they walk on the street shouting "fresh vegetables for cheap"......and you know if we need some, we used to call them as "jyaapu dai" jyaapu dai". even when we see them on street, we used to talk them as "jyaapu dai, tadai"?


So, I know pretty much what jyaapus are. They never pissed when calling them a jyapu. If i go to the land in the sanhamul and see a farmer working there, I still call him as "jyapu dai".


They do not have any problem. The thing that I don't understand here is - if they do not have any problems, who are you people making it a big deal out of nowhere?

I recall one of my old time memories:


We purchased a peace of land of Pakhe family (पाखे) (they are either chhetry or bahun, I don't remember). They used to live in a रातो माटोले लिपेको झुप्रो. We built a house next to them. Those पाखे family (Newars call them खे) was very jelous to others. We used to call them ओ खेचा कता हो. They were never mad at us. We had a very understanding community though.


So let's not be mad at each other.

Hmm now that the topic has changed, let me interject.


I don’t think you are racist just because I think you don’t know you are offending somebody. However, like “madhise” (instead for madhesi), the word “jyapu” is taken by most people as a derogatory term. When you say Jyapu dai, some people might let it go but most will be like “kallai jyapu bhanis oye m***.” Try saying jyapu to one of the newar (of jyapu origins) guy you meet next time and tell me that you didn’t feel awkward. Unless the person is a close friend of mine or my enemy I would never use that term. Even calling people of Brahmin origins “Baun” could be termed derogatory depending upon the context but it certainly isn’t as offensive as Jyapu.

As already mentioned above Rodio...without any backups your examples fall flat..i don't know whether you said what you said or not, so it holds no water. as stiffler pointed out calling someone "jyapu" or "baun" or "madisey" is taken as derogatory term when used by people of different group. just be careful with that.

Stiffler,  Do you go to anyone and just called him/her as "jyapu"? no one is that stupid....


but you can easily call the guy working in farm at sankhamul as "jyapu dai" without any fear. Jyapu means farmer, if you use this word to a guy working as IT engineer, he definitely will get mad at you.


Mero Jagir,  you know ....the jyapus, working in the sankhamul farm that I am talking about, used to eat couple pieces of bhuisi ko masu and a glass of chhyaang with his bare hands only once a day when the sun comes up in the middle of the sky. He used to collect all the shits from our bathroom for his farm, spread them to fertilize his land and eat lunch without cleaning hands. when he comes to our house we need to close our nose.....always had shits all over his body. He never used to shave bear, have haircut, and cover them with an old fealthy monkey cap. His shoes, oh i don't want to talk about it...nine out of ten fingers always out from them. We actually called a "pakhe" or "Khecha" to someone who dressup/ eat/ walk like that in normal life. But you know, we never called them so. alyways respected as a good neighbour. 


and still, we call him "jyaapu dai" with respect. Our resident was full of harmony with all type of people.  what do you think?

what if there was a young guy working? would you call him "Jyapu bhai?" LOL hilarious!! regarding you calling someone "pakhe" and then saying you respect them is a hypocritical statement i would think. if you had respected someone you would never call them "Pakhe"

Well it depends, but mostly even a 90 yrs old jyapu calls other guys as "dai". So its actually their practice that we followed. We call all of them as "jyapu dai". Here, remember I am talking about the farmers (jyapu) working in the field, don't just stray away and start another nonsense bullshit.


to answer my raising the word "pakhe" here in the discussion, It just came up to explain some stuff to this guy "mero jagir". Again there is nothing to take otherwise.

ज्यापुले बेच्ने भैंसीको जस्तो मासु so jyapu dai used to grow bhaisi ko masu and sell it? since when did jyapus start selling bhaisi ko masu?

no , they do not grow bhuisi ko masu. They actually buy those bhuisies from other....do you remember they bought tonnes and tonnes of bhuisi from "gadhi maai ko mela" last time couple months back? This is how they buy live as well as dead bhuisi, chop them into pieces and sell to public.


Some jyapus working in the farm were also in this business, so I was reffering to them.

I have no idea. but i always thought Jyapus worked in the fields and Kasais sold meat.

You people are pathetic. You think jyapu is a derogatory term? Jyapu is a way of life. I come from a good jyapu family and had good education and enjoying a good American life right now.

Illiterate bahuns and chettris think all Newars are jyapus. They are just trying to be offensive and trying to prove they are superior to others. Jyapus are the ones who work in the fields. My grandfather used to work in the fields but from my fathers time we have other business so no need to work in fields.

To be honest I find some bahuns and chettris filled with superiority complex because of their caste. Even today, they believe they are superior because of thier last name. It makes me laugh at their ignorance and stupidity. They call rice 'bhuja' and think it makes them have a higher status in society by calling it "bhuja" instead of "bhat". I have even seen some chettris snicker on the side when they hear someone saying "bhat".

I have a lot of respect for Jyapus who have a good ethical and moral values. Even most jyapu girls I have a lot of respect for. I have seen the behaviour of many chettri girls and they are like [Disallowed String for - use of word not allowed]s. Even married ones and ones with boyfriends are trying to sleep with other guys. So much for their values.

Some however are nice but a lot of them still have that khokro shaan about some warrior in Prithvi narayan shah's time who was their ancestor. Get real and grow up you guys, your mentality is that of a cheap ass illiterate bastard. Just because you can't do anything in your life you have to depend on your 500 year old ancestor who killed some people in the past to feel good about your worthless life? Haha so lame.

So if your grand Pa was a farmer. Was he a jyapu? Other non-farmer Newars can call your grand pa "Jyapu". Right? Just curious...

Well atleast Radiohead is making some sense. I see your point. However, when we use a collective noun from a caste group or race to refer to something then most of the time it becomes derogatory.


Black OR White is not a derogatory. However the context can make it derogatory. All blacks like KFC becomes a racial statement, even though I am sure some of the Sajhaites won’t agree here; just ask your African-american friends.


When you say jyapus making momo, I sense slight “profilism” to the extent of being derogatory.


 


If you understand this you understand my point. If not then I rest my case.

Stiffler,  I am at your point already...but you also have to get to the gist of what i am trying to say.


let me explain you something that probably I did not earlier.


when I think of "tongba", I definitely talk about sherpini did of patan dhoka.  when I think of "chatamari" I would not forget to mention newar of patan dhoka. When I think of momo...I again have to recall newars of kathmandu. jyaapus do not sell momo, they actually sell meat, vegetables and work on the farm a the meaning of the word is a farmer.


I don't know how to explain you this, but again when I think of ghee, i should remember dhankuta ko bahun. when I think of sexy girl, I would never forget about thakuri ko chhori.


alright, just try to get the sense out of all of the above analogies!

rahashya....."all bases are alkali but not all alkali are base"  please correct me if i am wrong, its been a while! just switch places of base and alkali if you found me wrong.


so, mostly jyaapus work as kasai in patan area.
