Nepali students involved in sex trade in Australia'

Nepali Embassy in Australia has suspected the involvement of Nepali
students in Australia of being involved in flesh trade, Annapurna Post
reported.

Nepali envoy

to Australia Yogendra Dhakal wrote to foreign and finance
ministries on Friday stating the embassy had learnt that girl students
from Nepal were involved in sex trade to meet their cost of living in
Australia.

Dhakal has urged the government to take this issue seriously, as it could
take a worse turn in the wake of the global financial crisis.

In the letter, the embassy has suggested the government to bring
regulations for education consultancies in Nepal, orient Nepali students
properly and ensure that they have funds required for the completion of
studies in Australia before giving a no objection letter.

There are about 17,000 Nepalis in Australia, according to the embassy.
Hundreds of people who were working in good positions in Nepal have also
gone to Australia to do diplomas in courses like hair cutting and cookery
in the pursuit of PR, the letter states.

Sajhbusaima, tell me what did Rajdoot of Nepal in Australia did wrong?  He infarct did right thing to inform the government and urged for some action. I appreciate his work and rightfully drawn the attention of government as well as the student from Nepal who wants to go to Australia.

o desbhaktanepali, what i meant was will you encourage your sister/daughter to have sex before marriage? you seem to belive in the as long as its safe sex philosophy.

out of topic, there are many nepali bh@lu's in minnesota area.. the nepali..(chinese/korean as well) girls are too much westernized..just come to any party..they will be drinking alcohol, smoking and in the end prostituting themselves...a lot of my indian / paki  friends in college know of this and they take advantage of the nepali girls...they will give $30 for a blow job!!

.i have even heard the situation in texas is depressing

its sad to be coming from the poorest asian counrrty..when it fact the situation in nepal led them to go abroad for more oppourtunity

If the court of justice prove that these Nepali are guilty of such crimes, these criminals citizenship should be
revoked or taken away from them..............!!!
What a disgrace! Totally national disgrace!

Do you people agree that Nepali government should revoke or take away these people CITIZENSHIP if they are found to be involve in such acts and other criminals activities in Australia and USA?

If the gals do it in Nepal, it's totally different prem. every country has a prostitution and USA is
one of it with las vegas i heard being sin city something like that. i donno how many nepalis
work in the sin city........!!!
but if your citizens go elsewhere and then start selling their body, it' totally national disgrace.
these people at least can stay at home and work in a rice field instead of working at "flesh market"

How about corrupt leader.???  of course give me the names of all the corrupt leaders first.
i am all in revoking nepali citizenship from corrupt leaders. Goola Prasad Koirala and others
 should be banished from nepal.

darknight....you are taking the thing out of context...i do not have any opinion about someone having sex before marriage or not...it is their personal preference...if some one does I would not stone him/her to death and if some one doesn't I would not think he is someone to be put into museum. ...

I just wanted to say that these ladies have decided to choose to be involved in prostitution by their choice...there are no one to be blamed for it and as I have said above I have no sympathy for them.....I came to study in US with few thousand dollars in pocket and completed it doing dishwashing and overnight job....if I could do it...I have no reason to think anyone else can't do it....it is just the choice you make in life...I remember the story of Prince Dikpal we read when we were kid...longer route may be long but it will give you happiness in future...and I have came to know that there are no short cut in life.....you will need to work hard to get what you want...you get what you deserve in the end...it may be harder to some compared to others.... I don't think it is their parents nor Nepali government nor the consultantcy in ktm are to be blamed for these ladies choices.

Regarding the safe sex thing it was simply my opinion so that they can prolong their career in the business they have chosen. It is good for them and their customers. Nothing else.

wow.....the discussion here is pretty heated up. just want to add a thing. most of guys have experienced a sex by paying money to prostitute either its here or back in nepal. we make it a big issue when girls do it and it just seems to be ignored or pretended to be ignored when guys do it. guys sleep with a girl who they meet in a party and thats absolutely fine. guys date another girl and have sexual relationship with two or may be more girls at the same time and that is morally correct. why sex or sex trade was just made for guys and not for girls??

There are always few bad eggs. Even in Kathmandu, few of the college girls get into prostitution to get some fast money. That does not mean all the girls studying in Australia are the same. Most of the girls are working very hard, working overtime to cover their study costs. They are living by themselves and are not a burden to their parents. We should be proud of the girls studying in Australia in such a harsh economic condition and should not talk about few bad eggs.

I agree that prostitution is not the answer to the hardship and a tool of survival. but I keep wondering if these girls had to force them selves on to doing the unthinkable due to HUNGER, SHELTER and BASIC LIVING. what if these girls didnt even have money to return home or even to eat sleep or take the train or bus. Desperation is a b it ch. Makes humans do the unthinkable yet imagine the mindset of a desperate girl who hadnt eaten for days and was about to be evicted from her apartment for not paying the rent. In desperation she must have pleaded for help and the people must have exploited her situation to trade sex for money and a place to stay. I DONT know the real story WHY......but like I said DESPERATION can make anyone do the unthinkable. WHEN HUNGER IS UNBEARABLE and depression is at peak people dont think wise and rationalize moral ethics. NOT all girls are in that position because they work............BUT unlike USA I heard it is a hard as a rock to land a job in AUSTRALIA..........and many Nepalese live in very bad neighborhood due to cheap living. It takes one connection for a sexaddicts to know where the sex is. I STILL THINK that these girls should not have done this and returned home with their dignity intact.........BUT so much investment and high hopes from family leads these girls to live a secret life..........THINK GUYS if you came to US and had no connection....most people from Nepal come here with little money and college tuition. If they dont find jobs...YOU know how ruthless life can be here too. I dont blame anyone but the way our country is heading..more and more young people are leaving our country to have a better life........MANY of us succeed in the harsh reality of struggles alone in a different country .........but sad fact is that some fail and result in the unthinkable....a victim of circumstances and a prey to the drug sex trade which is not hard for women to get in...not by choice but by desperation......I feel sad for them and helpless for I am a victim of my own survival and earn enough to support my family......I dont know what I would do if I fail to provide..........Im a man so prostitution is out of the question coz I dont look like a Fashion model....and I have high morals.........BUT I DONT KNOW WHAT ILL DO IF I AM DESPERATE and fail to provide........even in my hardest efforts to survive.......I HATE TO LOOSE...............and I refuse to judge any girls who endup doing what they do in desperation...BUT....IF IT WAS BY CHOICE FOR A QUICK MONEY RATHER THAN HARD WORK THAN I HATE THOSE WOMEN WITH PASSION REGARDING OUR CULTURE AND HERITAGE.......AND FOR DESTROYING THEIR PARENTS  INTEGRITY..........LOVE AND TRUST.

Mad dog i totally agree with you but at the same time i have seen some of the girls who love fast money even though they have opportunity for jobs. They just love glits and glamour and easy life. It is just their nature. I do understand that people coming from villages in nepal do have that financial crisis where they cannot even afford to do anything. They dont have choice. They are not in this profession because they like it,  but due to the circumstances it has created that environment.  But money is so addictive that even after they are strong enough to stand on their own feet, very few will choose a different path because the money flow in this profession is so easy. Some girls they will go in this profession even if they have a job and they will go for it since it is the easiest money. They will not think about their families or relatives or country. It is wrong from both side, even the girls who are in this professions and the guys who go and flow money on them. I dont think any parents or relatives will celebrate if they know their son or nephew are spending money in prostituion. It does not matter if its girl or boy, wrong is wrong and right is right. So I think we need to make aware of these things to our goverment. They need to make sure that where they are sending people and for what reasons. Like we had some people killed in iraq like  four five years ago because of our goverment carelessness. I think  it is our goverment who we should be blaming for, not creating any good environment for the people with any substantial basic needs for the people.  Basic need like food, water, and shelter. So we need to be pointing out fingers at our goverment.

Thukka mora bhate haru. Sala cheli beti cheli beti matrai bhanne. Aafno aang ko bhaisi nadekhne le aarka ko aang ko jumra ko kura garne. "This is coming from a guy, and I was in such situation when all of my friends were doing good except me, and if prostitution could have been the solution to me, I would have taken that road". Dont tell me that if a chick come to you and ask you to bed her and you wont. Why is sex still such a big deal for us Nepalease. Sex aint no sin, its what we call human. Everyone needs it, and if its going to solve someone's problem, let it be. Let them girls live their life, and stop worrying about others, you nosy pricks.

MaddoGG, for the start there is nothing like "hard as rock" to get job in Australia. It used to be easy (until few months ago) to get a job. Most Nepalese students still holds 2 jobs. Its bit harder now due to global financial crisis.

Second there is no bad neighborhood as in US of A .Australia is one of the best country to live in, No bad neighborhoods, no crime  and yes plenty of jobs.

And all this is Bu)ll shi)it coming our from Buu)s)hit rajdoot.

I know I don't speak for all of you, but I, for one, will not be so quick to jump into making judgements on those poor Nepali girls who have allegedly taken up prostitution.

As Maddog wrote above, desperate times call for desperate measures.  Maybe such were the situations for those ladies.  Legalities aside, they had to do what they had to do to survive.  Their activities have no bearing on my image of Nepal or Nepalis.

Sure, one could say that if they did not have enough money why did they come to Australia, or, for that matter, why don't they return back to Nepal?  But have you honestly experienced the economic condition of Nepal?  Forget thinking about future, it is hard to make ends meet in present for most people.  And when you make a significant investment in getting visa, buying air-ticket, arranging for initial expenses, in addition to the burden of high expectations from friends and family, would you really find the option of returning home empty handed with head hung low attractive?

While it's easy for men to pass edicts and pontificate from the far safety of internet, it is not right to condemn or make fun of those girls without walking a mile in their shoes.
