Yes, "Strong heart and nothing inside head". Nepalese are known to become fighters and fight for others - Indian Army, British Gurkhas, US Army.... since time immemorial. Nothing new in that - We're just fit to give our cheap lives for others. Aru kehi garna ta 'head' bhitra kehi hunu paryo ni.

Hey People making fun of army job!

I wonder what you folks do for a living? But you sound like you either work for the NASA or working on obtaining some patents of your own. Could you kindly tell the forum what you do?

It's not about what you can do or are doing? One legitimate question could be "Do you like what you do?" and "Do you make somebody else life better each working day?".

Pathetic people who think armyman is a no brainer.
I know your life is not worth much but mine is .Hence I am proud of the people (Army,Navy,Airforce, Firefighters,Policeman) who put their life to save me and my country.
God bless America.

well people in Nepal joined the foreign army such as Indian and British army because there's not much opportunities in Nepal.
Secondly it has been a tradition that evolved over more than 100 years that youth of Nepal joined these two army.
Plus they are fighting under the name Indian Gorkha and Brtish Gurkha. Therefore it is an honoured to be part of this famous integral armed forces.

But joining US army? there's the last thing people will do. common guys. Isn't that so many opprortunities in US of A and you are joining the army.

The bright side of it, is serve 20 years and retire and have a steady paycheck come to you for rest of your life. Isn't that great!!!! Even if you decide to go to nepal and spend rest of your life there you will still have money in the bank coming every month!!!!!!!!!!!

11_BRAVO, can you shed some light regarding the selection process for the US army ?

As far as I am concern, what I am proud of Nepal are only few and one of them is the people who serve overseas as a army personel.

You all need to stop making 11 Bravo feel bad about joing US Army. Its none of you all's busniess but 11 Bravo's alone. So what he has joined US Army. Its just an employment. Just like most of u are employed by 711s, microsoft, Oracle, or Dhoit's bhai resturants he is employed by US army. There is no need to humiliate him. He is just doing what he likes to do.

And for 11 Bravo, there is no need to take pride in joi9ning US Army. U can take pride in ur job but dont present it like ur taking pride in being part of US Army. The whole world kows that US army doesnt provide or protect freedom. They occupy, thats what they do.

On a superficial glance, being in the army is a brave thing.

When you go a little beneath the surface, you might not like the things you discover.

First of all being in the army is about submission. You have to submit to other people's (your superior's) whims. You are trained to follow their orders. Their orders might be right or wrong but you have to follow it. Does that mean you are not allowed to have a conscience? You have to bomb a helpless woman and helpless child because you are ordered to do so. You may even begin to enjoy killing others. You have to sell your humanity to join the army.

Secondly, army is nothing but pawn of the government. The govt officials have the big talks and they have the big ballroom dances and in order to protect their way of life, in order to protect their social status, they have to move their pawns in a calculated game to sustain their own survival. Right now Bush is sending troups to supposedly kill terrorists, but there have been thousands of innocent casualities. It's possible that future generations can term this current US invasion as Genocide.

The people who make up the government are mere mortals and they have their wants and needs, and trust me they love their money and power, and will want to continue to have it as much as possible. The army then becomes the pawns in thier personal agendas.

Thirdly, the US govt could have spent the hundreds of billions of dollars they are spending in war to improve the security within the country. But they choose to make the army personels expendable by initiating war with weaker countries killing thousands of innocent civilians. With the hundreds of billions that they spend on war they could have built a very good system of security within the US. But they choose to make the army a pawn in their gamble to eradicate the world of terrorists.

In trying to eradicate terrorism, they are infact creating more terrorists. With each innocent victim, they are creating more and more terrorists. So in fact, instead of eradicating terrorists, they are creating more and more.

And to continue with my lecture on this somber day, remember all you GC and US citizenship aspirants ,almost every generation and community in this country wherever they come from proved their allegiance with the flag and the constitution with their blood.
With every right comes a responsibility.

yeah and the US army is known as the infedals. death to infedals.
you support Isreal and condem Lebanon and Palastenine.
US does'nt want North Korea and Iran to develope WMD while US always fund massive amount of tax money to develope more powerful sophiscated weapon.

Just for thought:
when you fight under US Army you only be known as just another US Army.
And when you lets say win medal of highest honor for barvery (Purple heart), you only be remembered as just another US soldier.
But when you die in the battle you be forgotten.

Differences with policy makers should not translate into contempt for ordinary soldiers. It is not the soldier who took America into Iraq (or Rolpa for that matter). A lot of the current war policy is a total disaster and the blame for that falls squarely on those who started this war at the policy level.

Dear Bravo11:

Thanks for this rare opportunity you gave me to learn that people of Nepalese origin, too, are in US Army/Navy/USAF etc. Keep us posted.

And there is no need to reply/respond to every other "morally/politically/intellectually/professionally/ethically superior" Sajha Bashi. "Khutta taan" is- as all we know - our national game.

Its great to know that there are Nepalese serving the greatest army in the world. US Army is probably one of the best organization in the US but politicians have misused it for their advantage .

Keep up the good work
