Thanks Veekas. I do know New Road being AKA Juddha Sadaak and Naya Sadak. Just did not realized that the statue was that of Juddhasamser JBR.

New Road ta Juddha Sadak bho. The other streets meeting at the roundabout are called Dharma Path (south), Shukra Path (West) and Ganga Path (north), interestingly, named after the martyrs who were killed under Juddha Sumsher's orders.

Yes, it is quite interesting the way the roads around that roundabouts are named after the martyers. did juddhasumser name thes streets? i doubt. i think the naming ceremony occured after judhharsumser died. Any thoughts on that?

New Road was constructed after the devastating nabbe saal ko bhuichaalo. I think it was simultaneously called New Road/Naya Sadak and Juddha Sadak since its' construction. I am pretty sure the other streets were named after 2007. Tara jasle uniharu lai maaryo, usaiko saalik sanga jodine sadak haru ma uniharu ko naam kina rakhiyo ta? That question never came in my mind until this thread was posted.

hehe..ani highfly finally made the correction on the bank ko naam. Ani dreamz 18 yrs teta baseko bhanne, ani Rastra Bank bhanidinay :)

Moneyminded, hehehe.,.. was giggling ke. Thank you for actually putting up the signs on the pic. It sure helps the non-residents. So the park is gone eh? Sad. My skool bus used to pass that park everday. Some memories bound with that place. Inevitable as it was, its always upsetting to find something you thought were permanent is gone for good.O well.

Gone with the wind...

It sure appears that the Bhugol Park is gone. At least the Piple Boat is still there.

just a few steps toward the basantpur darbar square, on the right hand side, there used to be a diary store that sold delicious icecream and cheese. it was my daily frequenting place during my school days. does it still exist? i did not check out during my last visit, though. obviously new road has been my favorite street.

yes, after bhatti visit in johnchhe then strolling around durbar square appreciating erotic arts presented in temple tundals there among other things are the memoris i still hold fondly. riding rickshaw in narrow freak streat going toward thamel was also fun. the freak street for that matter other narrow gallis have been much improved now with smooth stone layers they recently put on.

the map is heplful while we attempt to visualize the location of the topic...the bridge connecting teku and sanepa is a jholunge pul (suspension bridge) called kalo pul, no? to my knowledge there is no motorable bridge there as the map purports. i am making reference to the part on the bottom left of the map above....

thanks folks. ktm does seem to have 'developed' while i have been in 'lahoor'. so, there is a pakki road from sanepa that crosses bagmati river and goes toward pachali? still can't beleive it. will have to zoom throuh that road on mobike the next time i am in ktm. is kalo pul still in use? it is fun to walk on it for undulating feel it generates...

Jyapoo,

It seems like you have not returned to Nepal for at least a decade. As of the summer of 2004, the suspension bridge was still in use. The motorable bridge next to it was constructed around 1994 or 95. The road to Sanepa was blacktopped around the same time. La yeso janu paryo afno desh tira pani.
