13-year boy exhibits stunning memory feat

By Kadambini Sharma ,
KATHMANDU, Jan. 26: Thirteen-year-old Kshitiz Lohani surprised everyone by demonstrating his memory power amid journalists, scientists, students and general public.

He recited the name of 125 objects, which were told to him by the audiences. He was even able to repeat all the words along with their serial numbers. He could even tell the position of the word in the serial numbers well as how many time it was repeated in the list. He missed only once.

The Class 8 student of Om Vidhya Mandir of Lokanthali said he wanted to be in the Guinness Books of World Records.

According to him, he was able to relate those words by the technique of imagination, association and reputation, which makes the words memorable. He says he was able to remember those words with the help of landmark learning system, which was thought to him in Maharshi Vedic Science and Technology Institute.

According to his trainer Madhav Prashad Aryal, Ksitij is only an example, everyone can remember the series of words by learning through the process of Transcendental Mediation. Aryal claimed even thousands of words could be remembered through this learning. The words can even be remembered years later, he said. He said the world record for children is only 57 words.

Dayananda Bajracharya, vice chancellor of RONAST, congratulated Kshitiz and said his feat was worthy of a world record. This process should be researched and broadened and this learning technique could be in every field of people?s life, he said.

Principal of the school Khadga Katuwal said that he is average in his class, but good in extra-curricular activities. He has also played in some television serials.

Earlier, Pratistha Amatya and Sagun Khatri had also shown similar memory skill. They were shown the objects to memorize, but Lohani depended on his auditory sense to memorize the objects.

Now who's bullshitting?? Nepal's media or me?

There is no record of it in the Guinness Site itself so I dont know if there is a grain of truth in what the nepali media has said.
