Palpali Gaule,
You have mentioned, he is a lobhi manchhe and i don't trust him at all but question is who do you TRUST? Do you trust Netas, Moaists, or who else??? Think who is responsible to create this situation in Nepal??? All the Netas fight for chair. Think about recent incident, hiring Governor for Nepal Rastra Bank. They fight for governor position then why not for minister and prime minister. They never care about Nepal and Nepali people, then why we or I support for these currupt Netas.
I would like to see peace and long term stability in Nepal no matter who runs the country, as long as peoples can live, talk, walk and live thier way.
I am not a supporter of King, truly I am Nepali who wants to see progress, peace, long term stablity, and secure Nepal.
Hope peace will prevail and Good luck to King Gyanendra.

Jai Nepap,
Sagun

Aba kati jana marne hun. 17 saal ma inar (well) were
filled with human carcase and this time too.

Tyahi mero chinta.

Who should take this responsibility? Girja idiot. If he had that
vision, all these scenario were in fiction book. All these started
when girija sacked some party members who did not give importance
to Girija and showed him on TV program. This is exactly what was
happening in Lukhnow ka Nawaf story. English were coming and
Nawaf was waiting to tie is lace by his Nokar, when no noker was
left at home, was posing that someone should come and tie his
shoes laces because he is nawaf he is not supposed to tighten
the laces of his own shoes. That was beginning of fall of Girija
and Nepali parliament in this last episode. Parda Close.

No Palpali, I also feel the same. Even though i have very liltle knowledge of politics but i know whatever is happening is BAD. Don't we have so called "democracy" in our country, i know it might be just for the name sake, but still doesn't that mean we people decide who the prime minister is going to be, or does king decides that? Isn't it By the people, To the people and For the people or is it By the King, To the King and For the King??? I mean today he decides to dissolve the Government and he could easily do it without any problems.God that means tomorrow if he decides to sell our country to India he has all the right to do so?? Fwak it! I wish i could start a new thread where we can collect money to hire a killer to kill that fwaking King and his son. I am sorry may be i am typing stupid stuff over here but i am just too fwaking pissed off.

Peace!

chatmandude and sagun,

thanks for your input. i do appreciate it. and i guess if i trusted the king and respected him, this would seem like a potentially good thing. but i just don't know....part of the problem is that no one realizes things TAKE TIME! i mean, you can't have effective government overnight. sagun, you are right. i don't know who i trust, other than the average nepali villager who just goes about his/her daily life. i do agree with many of the maoists' original 40 point agenda, but ahile ko maobaadi is so far removed from that agenda! they have totally lost sight of their political agenda for the sake of their own survival. and chatmandude, i realize things are in such a desparate state in nepal right now. but i think part of that may be a result of gyane's previous actions. and maybe any attempt at change is better than the status quo, but i have yet to see gyanendra do anything positive for the people of nepal.

i do hope the king's move proves to be the best thing for the country, but i am afraid. i mean, the former king, who was much loved and revered by the nepali people, stepped down as absolute monarch as a result of their demands. now this king, who is despised and distrusted by all nepalis i know, is filling that role?!

how bizarre- i am glad to know i am not the only one.

This is certainly a difficult situation, but peoples should not
lose their fate and should not support neither Maoists or nor King G's
current move, both are not working for Nepal. This is a time,
we should have new set of leaders. Corrupt peoples will be
forgotten and new leaders will emerge. I am only worried about
unwanted and unaccounted number of deaths of Nepalis from both
side in this emergencey, the innocent peoples are going to be killed.
we can not guess the number, but in this competition between
Maoists and King's RNA force, both are going to kill innocent peoples
confused in gray zone.

Behind the move, I am guessing that Maoists might have given
some signal for table talk to the negotiators (on back yard or Royal Palace)
that Maoists are ready to be on table if Deoba govt. is sacked.
Mr. Pun might be working towards this table talk and negotiated settlements.
Political parties have failed: Girija gang wanted reactivation of dissolved
parliament and Makune wanted reactiviation of local govt. bodies and
they were never in the same boat. They did not show any real
intentions to bring Maosits on table. thus, negotiators working on behalf
of King G, might have given a signal or designed this drama of sacking
Deoba based on Maosits 's intention to settle with King directly. Indian
govt. might be working silently in this settlement, so that the lower
level maoist cadres can be integrated in RNA force and this can turn
out to be a safe landing to Maosits considering the current scenario in
the world. This is jsut one possibility.

Or, King G wanted to test (final test) face to face fight with Maosits.
In any case, political parties failed to resolve the current crisis. Best
thing for Political parties was to keep silence and follow Gandhi's method
"asahayog andolan: by closing their lips for some time", but, that
opportunity had already gone. Now, their voice can not infiltrate Nepal
at least for sometime to make a cause and reach to common people.

Palpali jyu,

I can't say what happened was a bad thing. I don't know if it was good thing either. Only time will tell. But the one thing I am sure of is if the King succeeds to bring the peace back to the doorstep of Nepali people, he can somewhat clean up his as well as his son's image. History is a witness that time tends to make Nepali people forget about the past. Back in 1990, King Birendra and his family were hated the most. Ten years later, he died as a great king who sacrificed his power in order to bring democracy in the country. That's looks great on the pages of the history books but did he really sacrifice for the sake of democracy? Only those people who lived that period know better.

You said, "yo raja le pani is sending nepal backwards. yo panchayat era hoina ki?" which simply contradicts your previous line, "just as the maoists have sent nepal back decades in development through their destruction of infrastructure, roads, schools, health posts, bridges, etc". Those developements you have mentioned happend in Panchayeti era. So don't you think going back to that era actually is a good thing? I am not saying Panchayeti era was good. It was not. Democracy is of course a better thing. But it kind of sounds stupid when one tries to avoid 15 years of dark democratic period and goes back to panchayet era and blame everything to them. 30 years of pride (flashback: 1989 when India closed it's border, we survived in pride and dignity). Is it going to happen again? No way, thanks to Girija, KP Bhattarai, MKN and bunch of morons who practiced democracy and fked it up. So, let's not even talk about Panchayat era and try to avoid the darkest 15 years of democratic era. Blame it on SB Deuba, the impotent PM in the history of the world, blame it on the foolish pride of Girija, Blame it on KP bhattarai, blame it on the political chaos that gave us Maoists.

>>he is a lobhi manchhe and i don't trust him at all.
Who do you trust? King Birendra? ROTFLOL!!

Hoping for better Nepal...
snakebite.

gp, i like your theory that the maoists perhaps had agreed to negotiate with the palace if the deuba government gets sacked. THAT shows a little bit of promise and hope. certainly having all of the netas involved wasn't helping the situation, and perhaps it will be easier to bring about peace if it is just raja-maobaadi.

snakebite, i must say, although i still don't see this as a good thing, i am trying to become more open-minded about it in hopes that it will yield good results. but it just worries me that communication and air transportation have been cut off. you made a good point about king birendra and when i made the comment referring to the panchayat era, that was in direct reference to the system of gov't they had then (ie: political parties being outlawed and such), not any sort of infrastructure development. i just wonder why nepal is one country that can never get a break; never have a respectable, trustworthy leader.

Lets hope what other sajha members thinks about king is right.. lets hope he brings peace to Nepal and solves the problem of maobadis.....

In a way maybe it was a good thing to eradicate the filthy corrupted politicians, but what really scares me is king having sole power over the nation. I mean is it a good thing to give king (i don't know if we gave him or he owned it as a birth right) so much power? I may be wrong but i don't recall up till now, if he has done anything for the betterment of our country or the people. Well they say "there is a first time for everything", lets hope the situation of Nepal has changed him and made him a better person.

Still Skeptic....

BEIJING, Feb. 1 (Xinhuanet) -- China respects the choice of Nepalese in developing their own country and sincerely wishes the nation to realize social security, economic development and ethnic pacification, Foreign Ministry spokesman Kong Quan told a regular press conference here Tuesday.

He made this remark when asked to comment on Nepal's King Gyanendra's Tuesday announcement of dissolving the coalition government led by Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and forming a new government under his own "chairmanship".

Calling this decision "an internal affair of Nepal," Kong said that China will respect Nepalese people's option on how to developtheir own country.

Deuba was appointed prime minister by Gyanendra on June 2, 2004,and sworn in on July 5, 2004. Enditem
