I'm trying to convert everyone into being a vegetarian, as I despise people who eat meat. Eating meat is wrong, any form of animal cruelty is wrong. They are animals, they have feelings just like us humans do. Put yourself in the same position as these poor animals, would you like it to get chopped up and have no say in it?

People who eat meat are so selfish to give up meat. Vegetarianism and Veganism are both perfectly healthy lifestyles. Its not even like you have to go out of your way to be one, you find plenty of different foods at restaurants and grocery stores to suit your needs as a vegetarian.

There seems to be lot of fuss regarding the comsumption of meat..I say we all can speak our mind and if there is propoganda then be it..If KFC or McDonald's can tempt people by introducing different types of flavoured chicken on tv..the sure can Veg..."try" to convey people not to eat meat...so its ok to speak our mind..if not then it would be unjust right..

Someone said that it would not balance the ecosystem..since when did we start caring abt ecosystem??? :/ There are so many other things we should care about first ..even if we plan to go there...anyway veg life is totally healthy lifestyle or it wouldnt be a trend ...

Oys bro: So, you worry about all the unemployment that could occur if this industry is shut down..look at the bright side...imagine billions of dollars being spent on heart disease and what not...where in most cases meat is the real cause of all these problems..this money can be used to do lot of stuffs..and being a veg I totally hate my tax paying money go to someone who pigs out on pork chops and chicken wings...No control whatsoever..

plus..porn stars and skinny models are not the only ones who tend to be veg..people like Brad Pitt..who have healthy physique also follow this lifestyle...I seriously recommend you to try this lifestyle..its totally worth it..

I think it would be a good idea if someone invented a mass poultry slaughter machine... sounds profitable... I mean if they have to throw the chicken against the walls to kill them... there mustn't be any other better alternative....

First of all, even if people were to convert because me, its not going to be something that will happen in a matter of time. It will take time, therefore your concern about the meat industry is redundant. So is the ecosystem concern, because once something like this is spread out over time, natur will automatically adapt to it. Thats the way earth has worked for billions of years.

And if your friend became sick from being a vegetarian, I just laugh at him. Maybe he wasn't eating anything at all

I ask you again... being a vegetarian is as cheap as being a meat eater. You find anything pretty easy, at gorcery stores and restaurants. YET you won't give up meat? WHY? Its really selfish, guys. Very selfish.

I think there are few points, related to meat and other eating/drinking habits, that really need to be explained and discussed.

We have been hearing far too much exaggerated versions of adivces when it comes to eating/drinking/smoking. For example:

drink at least 8 litres of water everyday; [that wont make u thirsty at any time; what is the use of thirst then?]

meat is harmful to your health and heart [everything is harmful to yr heart when the only exercise u get is when u press the buttons on the remote control]

drinking is harmful to your health [so is eating food and drinking water...........how?.... if u eat /drink too much]

the smoke of cigarrettes is more harmful to non-smokers than smokers [make your kids smoke right from their birth then!]

Back to meat consumption now......to me, meat is not about eco system or something of ethical concern or even health for that matter. Rather, its all about TASTE. I eat it as long as I like it and as long as the animals are slaughtered properly :) After all, I dont have two lives like you to enjoy.

If that makes me selfish, I am guilty as charged. My salute to you UNSELFISH people who have so far displayed unprecedented level of unselfishness (like volunteering to work in remote places in Nepal, donating all your money to good causes, working for the poor for free etc etc).

hey i like people to have convictions and believe in things. its just that when they think they are right and those that don't agree with them are wrong that pisses me off. hey nomeatman...i do NOT despise you for being a vegetarian the way you despise me for being otherwise. live and f!ckin let me eat meat if i choose to. only people like hitler despise people of other beliefs so much. get a grip, its great that you are a vegetarian and you like it but that does not mean i am not a good human in any way. don't be so judjmental. the treatment of animals sure is sad i do not defend that but take a note of the differences in views and lifestyles and deal with it.

How about Chlamdomonas (the microalgae that we studied in school as exception to plant that moves about freely)...I wonder if they have feelings. When there is bacteria present, they are shy to mate. Does that concur feeling...well then, I must be a mass murderer, cause I kill them and torture them millions everyday...sometimes I mush them on the slide and expose them to unbearable heat......and at the end of it all, I really enjoy doing it..not a pinch of guilt!!

Guys lets not bash each other...It is very clear that Vegetarians could have a healthier life than meat eaters..I am not saying meat eaters are unhealthy but they have more chances of getting exposed to serious diseases..About moral aspect..I don't know...Well plant is also a living being and they must have some kind of feelings..for eg. If we want an apple we pick an apple from a tree, we dont bring it down...So I guess this whole moral thing is way too complicated to be coming to a definite conclusion...Having said that I totally oppose the brutal killing of animals..I think those things could change..so I dont thin anyone is wrong here..its is an opinion ..and everyone is entitled to do that..but for anyone to bash vegetarian life without even trying sounds little sad...I one for one have lived both lives so I know how it feels...Honestly I feel better than ever now than when I was eating meat back then...but again people might have diff opinions...

Whoever filmed the KFC Chicken slaughter, did an act of corporate esponage therefore should have been liable to formal procecution under the state and federal laws.

Pakistan produces world class fast bowlers because their diet includes meat. Historically, India ends up with mediocre fast bowlers becuase most of them are veggies. Of course, Kapil Dev was an exception. This has been an issue over and again whenever cricketing world talks about the subcontinent's fast bowlers. Indian pacers do not have that venom and aggression as their Pakistani counterpart has, which is such a huge factor to intimidate batsmen. This has been proven over and over.

I do not see any reason to try to be vegetarian. It is entirely a personal choice and taste and vegetarian are healthier than non-veg theory holds no water. I can understand dismay over animal cruelty but if they are raised and slaughtered for one purpose that is consumption, I do not see any reason to make an issue out it. Like earlier writers pointed out, it is okay to adhere on what you believe but totally different thing to force that thoughts on somebody. Enough Said...

As far as I know, animal right activits are usually absolutists, some are way too vocal and some are not, I am in the second catagory here, and I do not eat meat, do not wear leather, fur, bones, use products that have caused harm to animals in it's making, no eggs, milk. I am the only one in my family who is so, but I have never and never will try to force my beliefe into someone else. I do not think its a big deal either, just like meat lovers love meat, I do not like it, this liking and not liking comes out of what one believes in. We have had a long biological histry in making us meat eaters, even as I abstain from meat, I do worry that I am not getting enough vitamins and minerals, that one needs for optimal functioning of senses etc. But I can sacrifice something of myself because, just by trying out this lifestyle I have given a voice to animals who are in pain, are put through harsh conditions and are being used for human greed rather than its need. It's my decision and my lifestyle and I am proud of it withough trying or wanting to be all too self-righteous about it.

I think we can't hav a serious discussion about this issue because our animal friends don't like talking with us . We don't know if they are for or against animal rights. If we can have a disagreement between gay rights why can't they(animals) disagree about animal right, hehe. Just kiddin'. No offence to our animal right brothers and sisters.
Anyway, what would dashain be like without tat tato ragti ra khuti ko jhol. If mata devi has no objection for killing a khasi, I have no objection eating it, hehe.
