TGIF! Hope everyone is doing well. Time's flying by pretty quick. Tihar is almost around the corner. Speaking of which I hope everyone had a nice Dashain celebration. For those students stuck in what seems like the middle of nowhere. Enjoy life within the four walls of the college if that's what you have right now, while you can. College is definitely the best time in life yet we tend to want to complain about it tirelessly. Being human we can't be satisfied with anything can we? Well, at least we can try.

I had been meaning to add this small feature in sajha which would have meant a lot as far as retaining lot of great writers in sajha. I have to blame nothing else but myself for being lazy enough to not think it through and implement it. Because of my lazyness of sorts, sajha has lost or has been missing a lot of brilliant writers. Many new members have not had the opportunity to reading from many great writers who have taken a leave of absense from sajha.

I'm hoping it's not a permanent leave, and I hope users like yourself can help bring them back. Writers like sajha gazer, ashu, john galt, sitara, juggy, sum_off, amber, nk, najar, isolated freak, lot of whom are from long time back and only a few of you oldies may remember them. In fact there are many others and I hope you can help me in filling up those names. In any case, here's what I have put in sajha so that hopefully we can retain good writers in sajha if not bring back other good writers who have decided to melt into oblivion from the world of sajha.

I have added a [subscribe] feature next to each members name in posting, as well as in the userinfo page for any user, whereby registered members can subscribe to the writer. When you subscribe to a writer, your name is shown in the subscribers list under the writers profile. This is the essence of this very simple addition. Another important part of this feature is the email notification. There will be two kinds of notification emails being sent out every night at 11:30 pm. The first notification goes out to all users who have subscribed to anyone - if the subscribed writer has written anything in the past 24 hours. You will get notification of posts by your favorite writers in the last 24 hours if you have subscribed to any writers.

The second notification goes out to the writers informing them who have subscribed to their postings in the last 24 hours. This can serve to be a reminder and acknowledgement to writers who have left sajha for good that their writings are still being cherished here in sajha. For active writers it can serve to be an encouragement.

I hope you will use this feature to help sajha users have more access to more excellent writings, stories and other interesting information.

You can find a member by using the "SEARCH MEMBER" feature above the Vianet banner on the right. When you click on the members name in search result, you will get to the user info page where you can see the [subscribe] link on the same line as the username.

Happy Subscribing to many good things to come.

Warm wishes for a happy and prosperous Tihar.

Please use table below to subscribe to these excellent writers. We would like to see them back in sajha. If I have missed any please let me know via this thread so I can add to the quicklist below.

 Who moved my cheese?

Last month  we were doing book overview+presentation  for our class project and one of my friend gave  his PP about it. Then I read it myself ,I absolutely loved the use of  rodent and cheese  metaphore. While reading it I had my own "Aha moments" . Good read I must say.

(I just mentioned it  outta blue lol , ignore it )

Hi Chor, I first started the list with few good writers who hadn't been seen for quite a while. I have added more names here which have been suggested.

I enjoyed Lute's comparision of this with ex gfs. But we can definitely look at it in terms of another more practical comparision.

Let's say you were single and had a lot of friends coming to your apartment. Some of them very talented, some great singers, some musicians, some just great to hang out with and chill, some just nice friends. Lets say in time due to natural progression of things such as marriage or fatherhood, you began to lose contact with your friends and at some point there was just no contact. Let's say things started to get a little stable as far as your family life and you wanted to be back in touch with the old friends. Perhaps an invitation to come for dinner. Perhaps a catch up call once in few weeks. I don't see anything wrong with that.

It's perfectly fine and good to say let bygones be bygones if you had parted in sour notes. There are no sour bygones here, and there's nothing wrong with sending people you know a greeting card or a Thanksgiving card once in a while.

With that said, I hope you all can help invite some of our old friends back by sending them a nudge through the sajha subscriptions.

Its a good attempt to bring back good writers. The problem I think is with the moderation. I think it is your hypocrisy that has chased people away.

Hi cowboys, it would have been more appropriate if you could explain what hypocrisy you're talking about. It's easy to throw out baseless accusations. For a more credible accusation, example or more details would be appreciated otherwise it ends up being nothing more than a feeble attempt at displaying your own insecurities. That would help me learn how not to chase people away. I'm not perfect, so help me out here. Plus I'm always up for a good discussion.

Dear San,

The attempt that you are doing on bringing back the lost writer is greatly appreciatedby the writers like me who is pretty new to sajha but i have been watching this site from last 3 yrs. well i dont know what hypocricy Cowboys is talking about but i would like to say something. I have seen lots of good writers here at sajha and lots of worst as well. there is no doubt that in such kind of public website we will see good as well as bad people too. The main point is there are some user here who are really good writer but still they do offense on lots of other thread where they are not supposed to be and if somebody goes against them than their account will be deactivated or the therad will be gone.. i know you have your own policy on sajha and i dont want to offense on that.. let me give you the example. Bathroomcoffee, He or She is one of the very good writer i have seen on sajha but the bad habit of bathroomcoffee is that he/she always offense on somebody's elses thread and try to create dispute and the result is that whether the thread will be gone and the user who opened that thread wil be deactivated but that bathroomcoffee will still be at sajha..No matter how much faul language he use his thread and posting will still be there...I remember the thread long time ago which was against black people, i know that was not good thread and that time bathroomcoffee was talking in favor of black people. The same example there was one thread which was in favor of black people but at that time bathroomcoffee was talking against of black people...So what does that mean.. Isnt that retarted...Sometimes i feel like this bathroomcoffee just trying to make him/herself popular on sajha. My main point is San, rules should be equal for all the user..May be that bathroomcoffee might be friend of you or Nas, but that doesnt mean that the rules doesnt apply on him...So thats what my point is Dear administrator San..

Note: I am pretty sure may be either my account will be deactivated or my IP Adress will be hacked by administrator after i have written all these things against bathroomcoffee. Dear San bro if such thing happen than i know it wont matter to you if you lost only one writer like me but seriously you will lose the faith that i have towards you.

San bro,
I clearly could see discrimination here......would u mean writers mean only those who write in English? I was frozen with shock when I could not see those great writers who have contributed a lot and lot to make SAJHA what is today. Meaning, I did not see even a single name (except Deep) who write GREAT stories in Nepali.....

please include them..

1. Rahulvai
2. Deepika
3. Bhaute
4. Birkhe Maila
5.. Crazy Love
6. Nepe
7. Somewheronearth
8.Fucheketo
9. Ramprasadneupane

I will add few more names later :-)

and yaaaa...im very glad that..i was also included in list hehheheheh cant believe my own eyes.-----
--------------------
Loote bro, talking abt that book, im glad that u had chance to go through such a wonderful book. That definetely was one of the best books I have ever gone through. As u have mentioned it was easy read and very short....I recommend everyone to read this book at least once.

Please have a look on this thread if u have time (discussion about the book)

I am sorry SAN, but I have to agree with what Boulevard Dreams has mentioned above about BathroomCoffee and it seems like he is an admin too.. I think it would be wise to stop writing nonsense when you are an admin, it would be a good idea to use some other name as admin and keep writing crap like he does as bathroomcoffee.
but that wouldn't make sense would it??? or does it??

whatever so, you are doing a good job and you did a good job by opening this website, I have been using it ever since it was created maybe in different ID's cause my favorite one was blocked long time back....

my 2 cents..

There you have it. You just got the answers from some people here. Have you seen any posts from some people that are in your list.  They have a very very short fuse, or rather no fuse at all. the first post they make in a thread starts with some cursing. But you never step in to moderate those threads. And then you go about blocking people. If you go back and look at the posts from the past couple of years, you will see the stuff you have let go and the stuff you have blocked people for. And then you send a long email saying that you are blocking because the person is disrupting harmony. Thats the hypocrisy I am talking about.

am so surprised BathroomCoffee made the list that you created the prototype of the subscribers list...he is like an alien in sajha.. different from others. gu kha bhanda nakhane gu nakha bhanda khane.. babu bhat kha bhanda nai ma gu khanchu bhanne manche..

mero pani kehi sabdha...

This is what I am talking about. It has been this way for years. He says he is up for a good discussion but as soon as the discussion is unfavorable, he is nowhere in sight. Don't worry guys, he will show up after a few days.

Cowboys this is good. In fact I feel this discussion is very favorable because it's one of the first of its kind. Unfortunately I have to wait till tomorrow to write my reply since there are numerous issues at hand. Another unfortunate thing is that I don't have the priviledge of running out of sight and showing up in a few days. So will write more tomorrow on our favorite topic of hypocrisy and how it may not be as it seems... and it should clarify any doubts that cowboys and boulevard dreams may be having.

I have to thank you Boulevard Dreams for being honest in bringing out this information. I am not sure where you get the idea that your account may be deactivated and your IP blocked for disagreeing with me or questioning with me. Sajha is about respectful discussion and believe me I never take such actions against people who are respectful of each other in discussion ideas and incidents without using foul or derogative language. In fact, if you have more things to point out where you have felt my actions were questionable, I urge you to bring it up.

Amazing, I have to admit that I do not know a lot of Nepali writers. That's why I have to rely on other users to complete this list. I initially started with ashu, sajha gazer, sum_off, paschim and isolated freak. All the rest of the other users in the list were recommended by other users through this thread or thru shout box. I will add those users you have recommended as well. BTW Rahuldai is in the list already. My inability to include all the great writers only shows that I am not a super admin who knows everything that's going on in here. No offence to anyone left out!! I am just another common person like everyone else, and yes I can make mistakes too or miss certain things. I have to rely on people like yourself to make better judgements at different times.

Chor, you are wrong that BathroomCoffee is an admin so your assumptions are wrong and obviously it didn't make any sense

Walkahead, as I have said, I added the other users based on user suggestions in this thread, if you check this thread you can see that rockend requested the addition of bathroomcoffee you can see it here.

I look forward to communicating more on this subject tomorrow. Ke garne I have some responsibilities at home too.

Namaste everyone,

First of all, a very happy Tihar.

Now something on the issue at hand.

I don't consider myself a good writer and was quite surprised to see my name along with ashu, Sitara and other good writers from whom/whose posts I have learned a lot. Sajha for many years served as a platform for us, young writers to share, discuss, debate, argue, make friends.. and I have learned a lot, made many friends and even more enemies here.

I can't speak for all but these days I find myself pretty occupied with myself, I guess I am getting old. And when you are of my age, you are more concerned with yourself rather than what happens in the world. I hope this is just a temporary phase, and maybe the old posters are also going through this phase, and sooner or later (sooner than later) they all will be back sharing their stories, anecdotes, poems and well-written, well-argued essays.  Let me take this opportunity to invite all the oldies back: Ashu, Sitara, NK, Poonte, Suna, Arnico, Kalankisthan, Suvachintak, GP, Captain Haddock, Jira, Deep, Sum_off.

Again, I can't speak for all, but my not writing here has nothing to do with the way San runs this website. He has provided this excellent platform for us to share our views and make like-minded friends. The problem is with us, the ones who disappeared for various reasons. I guess, we all get used to a set of writers and when we see that our favorite writers or the ones we feel comfortable with are no longer writing, the will to write, discuss just fades away. I know its quite unfair to new posters because eight years ago, I was new to Sajha, and many good writers/posters then encouraged me, argued/discussed with me, and as a result got me hooked to Sajha.. I am not saying all these new, young and brilliant writers need our guidance or sort, on the contrary, we can learn a thing or two from these new posters, but the problem is, we are afraid to get out of our comfort zone and are quite ready to embrace the new writers.  But let's be optimists. The old writers will be back and the new ones will be able to learn from them and vice-versa. Being a life-long student of China, I belive in these two Chinese sayings: huxiang bangzhu (help each other) and Huo dao lao, xue dao lao (learning never ends).

j hos sajha sab ko sajha ho chada boley ni na boley ni... freedom of speech unless u hurt somebody or offened somebody personally, than it is not freedom of speech..

some guy in cali hanged a PUTLA of sharah palin and burned john mccain in a fire as a haloween decoration in front of his house and the city or the state let him keep that decoration saying he has the freedom to express..

but we can use foul language or curse here in sajha sometimes without having your IP blocked, I bet hanging burning is worse than cursing... Not that I am encouraging it, but it gives something to think about...

IsolatedFreak is right. The problem with Sajha.com is that the new comers or people who keep changing their Avatars attack the other guys using low level words and the attackers get Stars from poor fellows on the back. It is a recent culture in Nepal and imported to USA and Sajha.com as well. Anyone who proposes good ideas or comes with collection of great ideas are thrashed down to hell. Those in San's list are the guys who elevated the status of Sajha.com right from the day one it was elevated, but we failed to recognize it. San, finally, realized a need of their presence to make Sajha.com more vibrant and contextual. It is a good move.

Well, I will suggest San to have a link with some Nepali Radios or TVs in Nepal, and create such an environment that these "Sajha.com Veterans" on behalf of Sajha.com community make regular comments on Nepali issues, just the way "various particularly political" strategists find access to American TVs where journalists only moderate the issues and ask questions. It can give a new window to Nepali radio listeners. Have a great day.

A pleasure seeing isolated freak. It's been ages. Hope all is well. Need to catchup some more thru email

Also, a pleasure seeing CEO being active thesedays. I enjoy your postings.

It's nice to see natyavaruval back. Her writings always bring a smile. Happy Dipawali to you as well.

It was nice to see Ashu dai's posting as well. I was disturbed to hear about the attack on you, but I'm glad it wasn't as bad. But do take care and be careful in the kind of business environment you are working in.

Cowboys, it may be that your initial accusation of hypocrisy was related to castism, if it is so please do elaborate your concerns because this is a perfect time to do so. I will be happy to reply with an all inclusive response.

On another note, I've seen quite a few people unhappy with the number of banner ads in sajha so I went on a tour of few nepali sites such as nepalnews, cybersansar, newsofnepal and nepalisite and guess what? These sites either had same number of banners as in sajha or actually more than that in sajha. Which makes me conclude that the numbers of banners in sajha is not bad as it is made out to be. In any case as you can imagine, running a site like sajha takes a lot of time and effort and a little financial help from sponsors who in turn get some good exposure is always appreciated.
