The DC rally was very successful. Congratulations to everyone who organized it, and particularly to the many hundreds of people who took their Sunday to express themselves at this historic rally. Many came from hundreds of miles away -- a great demonstration of how important democracy is to people. It was peaceful, and a small handful of pro-king people even came and expressed themselves, but there was no harrasment and everyone was respectful. It was a great example of democracy in action.

There is a report on the rally posted at - http://www.freenepal.org

A lot of speeches given at the rally are posted there as well.

I don't have to do personal with Mr. Murari Sharma. I never know him in person, nor will try to know him. I just doubt how capable was he to uphold the diplomatic ethics. Here, I don't want to quesiton his political affialition. I don't mind even if he has his own political party. My concern is that it would be great if he had returned back to Nepal once he called off by his government and get into US with his new appointment in US agency. Mr Sharma has set forth the bad precedence. At this moment I am remembering an Iraqi ambassador who left the US after the collapse of the Saddam regime. I think, Nepal's situation is not that worse compared to Iraq. May god enlighten such maroons.

If Bill Clinton wants to live in Europe, should that be a problem to the American people, I would not think so.

Its Mr. Murari's choice to live in the US, that's all I meant. Mr. Tusli Giri, a Jehova's witness, left Nepal and lived in Sri Lanka for many years and he is back in Nepal as the Vice chairman of Gyanendra LLC. Not any issue is it Mr. Gyane Ball Licking Dell is it?

What the hell did we gain by this demonstration ? Yeah the people showed up ..but for what ? ITS GREAT TO HAVE HIGH IDEALS. BUt the question is was it worth the effort ? People really think that the current U S gov. gives a rats ass about Nepal ? Its just another platform for Oppertunists to take advantage of the whole situation in Nepal. Average Nepali's are having a hard time putting food on the table and here are these DIMWITS protesting about Democracy. What Nepal needs right now is a little stability so average Nepali can get a job so they can put food on the table. NOT HALF ASSES OPPERTUNISTS WHO ARE SCHEMING ON >>>"WHEN NEPAL RETURNS TO NORMALCY THEY CAN HAVE THEIR KURSII"S <<< just like that Koirala hoping to get her shiii back. he he

Bathroomcoffee you hit the nail on it's head.

It's sad that few people here think you're King g's chamcha if you are concerned about the day to day lives of people who actually live in Nepal and have to struggle everyday.

It's such a lip service when they live in US and wants to force their ideals on the poverty stricken people of Nepal for whom, peace and stability is the most important thing than the inflated political ideals of some.

He who is more real about the situation in Nepal and the achievement that the DC demonstration, done by those nepalese soooooo concerned about Nepal that they would rather fight from a secure place than go back to Nepal to make even a slight difference, brings or not bring, is called a Royalists here. But then those who support the demonstration are not to be called, corrupt netas' chamchas.

It is almost like the the ultimatum given by Bush, 'you are either with us or with the terrorists.'

The purpose of the rally is to put the voice upto Maharaj's ass to his brain. I think some of you here could do the service very well.

Except for those people who are waiting like vultures so that they can go back cash in their chips when thing calm down. heh heh

I am totally with BathroomCoffee. Demonstration was nuthin but a Publicity Stunt. They got their show on, speech given, posed beautifully to take pictures, published the news in media and checked which website published their news the day after. That's what they "achieved" by this Rally BathroomCoffee. They got the Fcuking balls to protest in America but don't got the Balls to protest infront of the Narayanhiti palace. These MOFOs are opportunists and "vultures". If they are fcukin concerned with Nepalese plight go fight the war against the King, Mao and those low life motherfcuker politicians. Fly to back to Nepal.

I aint mad though....haha

hey XXX thanks for the big green text, i didn't know I needed glasses. so why don't people protest in front of Narayanhiti palace, because your dear king dosen't allow people to assemble and even if they do they get their head smashed and locked in indefinately. but if you bothered to read the news you would have seen, people are getting arrested daily for protest. I personally was glad to get to meet all these people at the rally and talk to them face to face, and have a good discussion, even with some pro king people there. Instead of talking shit on a bulletin board its better to talk in person and make lasting connections, these rallies are good opportunities to meet people and start organizing for something constructive if you really cared you would understand the importance of this.

Did the rally get media coverage? If so, it would be interesting if folks would provide links to stories on the rally.

Nepali protesters in the US were `hired?: Gorkhapatra

A state-run newspaper of Nepal has alleged that hundreds of Nepalis who took part in a pro-democracy rally in the Washington D. C. on Sunday were `hired.?

In its front-page story entitled ?Anti-national demonstration highly objectionable,? Gorkhapatra daily reported that Nepalis in the US had expressed ?serious objections? towards what it described as anti-monarchy and anti-national demonstrations carried out by some Nepalis based in the US.

The oldest daily of the country?that turned 105 years last week-- quoted S. K. Shrestha and Pemba Sherpa, as saying that Sujata Koirala, daughter of former premier G P Koirala, spent thousands of dollars to ?spread rumours against Nepal in the US.? ?Since Sunday was a holiday, she was able to gather some Nepali laborers by paying USD 50 each,? the daily quoted Shrestha and Sherpa duo as saying.

The news story, datelined Kathmandu, also quoted Colorado-based journalist Ganga Chaulagain, Maryland-based Ramesh Sharma and a student Sunita Chhetri condemning Sunday?s demonstrations.

Described as the largest rally of the Nepalis in the US so far, some 700 Nepalis and friends of Nepal had gathered in Washington D. C. Sunday calling for peace and restoration of democracy in Nepal.

Speakers in the rally included T. Kumar, Amnesty International USA; Murari Raj Sharma, former ambassador of Nepal to the United Nations; and Nepalese-American community leaders including Krishna Nirola, president, Association of Nepalis in the Americas; Shyam Karki, vice president, Non Resident Nepali Association; Anand Bista, president, Nepalese Democratic Youth Council USA; attorney Madhavi Basnet; Mohan Sitaula of Texas; Mridula Koirala of New York; Mingma Sherpa of New York; Suman Timsina of Pennsylvania; Bishwa Acharya of Georgia; Tirtha Mali of Florida; and Girija Gautam of Tennessee.

The rally was sponsored by FreeNepal.org, International Nepal Solidarity Network, Liberal Democracy Nepal, Nepal Human Rights Commission USA, Nepalese American Journalist Association, Nepalese Americas Council, Nepalese Democratic Youth Council USA, and Samudaya.org. nepalnews.com by May 17 05

I am not surprised. Lot of New Yorker and DC people would do lot of things for 50 bucks. C?mon that?s 6 X 6 packs.

Total 400 people
15%=60 little kids
20%=80 Illegal immigrants from New York & Boston, They thought they were hired as a
contract labor at some fish market in DC.
20%=80 Were so high, they thought it was some Nepali Picnic hoping to check out some
Nepali chicks and were really disappointed when they saw all that old farts.
Some even threw up after meeting sujata.
30%=120 relatives & friends of koirala, Nepal, Deuba family.
9%=36 Sajha fools who were lured by Nepe, Newuser, Punte, KohoKoho, by telling
them Budweiser and buff momos are going to be served after the speech (which
never did.)
5%=20 reporters/Journalist hoping to catch some "dunga Muda? /Nepalese flag burning
on camera. (I?m glad that didn?t happened)
1%=4 former government officials illegally stayed & refused to go leave US when
government called them back after their tenure. Currently happily employed at
Bombay Indian Cuisine, representing Nepal.

I think that's a pretty good crowed.

Son Koko-big Hole-
You don't talk to your father like that. Your mom and I worked really hard to bring you to this world, Son. It is not your fault that you like man's a$$ so much that you think about it all the time. Your mom knew that you were fagg when you turn 13. You kept humping on our dog (male) KALE. You scared the sh*t out of that little dog. You have always been really inspired by Michael Jackson since you were little kid, but now I send you to study in America, I hear that you are starting to look like him and do things like Michael does. Also heard that you went to the rally because king refused to pass the Gay marriage bill in Nepal which really disappointed you (that?s why you chose to live in US). After all you are my son, I don't hate you. Even though your mom and I are separated now, you are still the part of my sperm. SO KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT WHEN YOUR FATHER IS TALKING TO YOUR UNCLES...YOU LITTLE FUK FACE...KO KO A-HOLE.
