I know how it feels. Let put your emotions aside for now. It is hard and easy at same time if you have plans.

 1.  Find alternate solutions without ruining your one and only asset, CREDIT SCORE

 2. Alternate solution is ask non-profit organization to help your cause. The most generous donor is the most unexpected one. I know there are so many good cause that can make difference. Again, no room for emotions. If you play any music instrument, try it out over the subway. Be practical and safe with drunks. Dont let people judge you but remember, this is your choice, not others.
Last thing is friends. It does not matter your friends are rich or poor. just learn to trust them.

 3. Try to be happy. I am so amazed by other reactions but you will find more people later on. Remember to believe in yourself, not your emotions. For example, if you are a BA by profession and always hated the work, chances are you will have to work as BA. But again, think twice before making any major decision.

4. If you know you are right, you are always. So don't get afraid or angry. Now you believe in yourself try to be practical. Dont bring expensive gifts or unnecessary money. You are smart enough to maintain 700 credit score with all you difficulties. Life is harder than you thought but try your best. If you tell me where are you leaving for sure, I might have better idea.

5. Be happy, smile now.

Character is doing the right thing when nobody's looking.  There are too many people who think that the only thing that's right is to get by, and the only thing that's wrong is to get caught.  ~ J.C. Watts
The only thing wrong about this guy is – he got caught….
.....but luckily it was in sajha.
I am big on ethics and morals and integrity and all that good stuffs as well. And if I were to leave for Nepal, I perhaps wouldn’t have done anything like that, but after reading this post, I was forced to think what I would have done if I were in his shoes. So Let’s break it down :
1.       The poster must have had a hard time living in America, which I believe, because we all have our episodes of struggles. While I believe that he should have refrained taking such desperate and unsavory measures we do not know what sort of financial crises he or his family must have been under. It’s not like we were born in the household of Buddha or Gandhi, so bashing this poor guy anonymously in sajha doesn’t sound like a wise thing to do.

2.      Let’s go into more detail – if my dad sold all his property to educate me in United States (dumb, I know) and for some unfortunate reason I could not land a job or get my immigration status settled and couldn’t even save a nickel, I would ask myself what would I do? Buy the souvenirs for my family on my visa card, and make minimum payments from Nepal? Seriously?

3.      I am not sure about the people who criticized him on this post, but significant percentage of Nepalese who work in Gas station steal money and cigarettes; don’t we think we should start from them instead of harassing this guy?

4.      When I was in Florida last year there was this person cursing all Nepalese who stole money in gas station when his dad was locked up in prison for eighteen months because of bribery charges. Do we see the connection here?

5.      Stealing is wrong, I would never advocate that, and all of us who have advised against it are right, I completely agree. But quite honestly, the only thing this guy did wrong here is have this foolish audacity to post; only to be criticized by none other than ANONYMOUS us.

Again, would never do that, and I’d advise against doing such thing all the time. But quite honestly, if push came to shove, let alone credit card, I would have planned a heist at a local bank if I knew I would never get caught.

IS HE WRONG? HECK YES.

But....

I would have preferred everyone advising him against it instead of clobbering him verbally, but oh well, isn’t anonymity a bliss?

I have not read through the thread so if I am beating the same drum, I apologize.

It all boils down to this: the original poster is thinking about doing something wrong which will turn into being illegal down the road.

We should advise him not to do it.

It would be immoral and unethical to do otherwise.

There was a time when we sincerely believed that Nepalis are the "sojho" people of earth.  One Indian can dupe ten Nepalis, some would say, not as an insult to self but as a complement to our integrity.  This, it seems, is no longer the case.

They say, desperate times call for desperate measures.

The question is how ethical and moral is your desperate measure? Would everyone in your situation take the same measure?

Seems like most people do not agree with you.

You are fine to disagree with them by the same token that in a society there are thieves, rapist, murderers who do not have any regrets with what they do.

At the end of the day, your actions determine what kind of person you are.
