Allmost all of the fixed lens digital APS ( or Auto Point and Shoot) camera are set at least half a stop or in many cases one stop overexposed by default (or factory setting).

The proof of it: See the clouds in many of photographs presented here. The coulds appear washed out white instead of light greys and middle greys in color. Only the darkest clouds appear to show middle grey.

For the same reason the skies look pale blue rather than deep blue and overall the picture is tinged with very pale blue which gives a cooler feeling caused by the blue reflection from the sky (in outdoor scenes).

I get the same problem all the time but I use Circular Polarizer to cut out that blue(or cool effect) on my lens. Using Circular Polarizer deepens the blue of the sky at the same time cuts out the blue(cool effect) from other areas of the scene.

But when it comes to photographing snow. The APS(Auto Point and Shoot) digital cameras which (all most all people seem to own one) gives more accurate color of the snow because by default it is already set (from factory) at at least half a stop (or one stop in many cameras) overexposed.

If you shoot the snow with SLR (Single Lens Reflex) camera at the exposure reading of 'o'(zero) you will get snow that looks grey rather than white. It is not the fault of SLR cameras because becaue it sees show as light grey rather than white. If the APS cameras would be in the same trouble had they not been set slightly overexposed at factory setting.

Thanksfully in SLR cameras you can always overcome that grey snows amd make the snow apper white by manually overexposing by one stop of light either by using one step slower sutter speed or opening up the aperture one stop of light.

The next big thing will be NIKON D200
http://dpreview.com/news/0511/Nikon/d200-01.jpg

This will be my next baby from Nikon. It is priced at about the similar price range as Canon's D20 but Nikon's D200 gives more of the PRO features along with 10.2 megapixals. That is 2 extra megapixals of image resolution compared to Canon D20's 8 megapixals.
