Dinesh Subba rode his HERO cycle to school everyday and used to brag about it all the time. He once said, "you see that, you see that" pointing to the rim of his bike, " that's made of real alumnium stuff, its unbreakable". Like a dummy, we believed him. He really made us think HERO cycle is the best. All of a sudden my chinese made bike was not so impresive compare to his HERO. "look at this seat, its all leather..none of those plastic crap on my bike" he used to boast about it. Couple years down the raod, he upgraded his pedal powered HERO to gasoline power motorbike, a honda...not a HERO honda, a real honda. I wonder what he did to his HERO. Does anyone know?

everest8848,

I transferred to Bhanu Bhakta in 1989. I am one of the two students from our class who transferred on the middle of the academic year after being brainwashed by one of our other classmates. Well, he ended up staying in MAV. This happened shortly after the infamous scandal involving Prasanna Manandhar. The three of us used to sit on the same bench in class 9A. Now that you probably know who I am, give me some hints about yourself :)

I remember the other guys you mentioned but not sure about Ishwor. As for the short guy who went to Modern Indian, could that be Bhaswat Risal? So who was in the Nagarkot janay group, and why were you chased away? Anyone else from our class that you are in touch with?

I will send you an email shortly hai.

Kata harae aru Satdobatay haru?

Since you have already figured out my name, I will just say that I was the 'short little guy' who sat in front of you. Memory is failing me as I cannot make out who you could be. Anup Bajracharya is my guess, or maybe Himanshu.

I have the answer to the question that went unanswered. The group who went to Nagarkot was Gobre, Sanu, Deepak Bhurtel, Himanshu, me, Binaya Kharel. That is all I can remember at this time.

All the names you guys mention sound familiar. I met with Shekhar two years ago when I went home for Dashain. This time, I didn't get a chance to do the same. The only other guy I used to meet every once in a while was Bipul Karki. I met him during two summers when I worked in Ocean City. Just met him in the bus.... was the darnest thing. I was in contact with Dinesh Bhusal until about 5 years ago. He was in London at that time.

Who else..... there are so few ManendraAdarshaites that I am elated to meet one that went there even 8 years after I did.

I am at work, but will email you guys through Sajha.

I am very curious to know who the two of you are.

Everest, I just sent you an email again. Check the account that you registered with Sajha. Try to email me if you still don't see mine. I hope Sajha ko email system is not having problems.

Hmm..so nepin is one of the two guys from Bhaktapur (the other being Avi Gurung), and joined MAV in class 8. Now there are at least three of us from our batch in this thread. Ani thanks for answering part A of the Nagarkot question. Still waiting for part B: why were you chased away?

Gobre bhaneko ko ho? I still can not recall Sanu either. Niceguy and badmash seem to be a year senior to us.

It vaguely occurs to me that there was a short guy called Ishwor Shrestha. Everest, is he the one you mentioned?

Avi used to be one of my better friends. I met him this Dashain when I was in Nepal too. Gobre was Subarna Basnet/Basnyat. Sanu was from near Lubhu - tall, lanky, sorta-rowdy, kinda-quiet guy.

Sorry, ChipleDhunga, I didn't answer this in the last post. I don't remember why we were chased from Bhaktapur. I don't even remember being chased actually. What I remember is that for some reason (possibly because we were broke) we walked to Bhaktapur from Nagarkot via what must have been Kharipati. I could be totally wrong about it being Kharipati though.

I remember Ishwor's face still. There was another Bhaktapure in our batch - Tara Koirala. She moved to the district somewhere around 9th grade, I think.

I also think the names Badmash mentions are from one batch ago.
