Have anyone went to any big conventions without paying? like big science conventions, engineering conventions or any kind in USA? either the employee pay the registration fee or the employer will pay for you. But there will be a fee. Any kind of convention ma fee tirnu parcha America ma. Nothing comes free in America. If you want to attend you pay else you are not allowed free entry.

Wow...talk about the audacity of Nepali people. Aren't you guys ashamed ? Do you have any values or morality left in you?
But then again, we Nepali are fool. We'll criticize everybody and everything until it comes to yourself. Go ahead soccer players, DJs, fashion freaks, models and insecured-isolated-lonely 30 year old virgins, put your blind eyes and join them and pretend nothing has happened.
Trust me, they will still make money.

There are NO benefits in registering for the ANA.

Your registration does NOT give you a right to stand up for elections nor does it give you a right to vote.  How on earth can you "have your voices heard" if the election to vote for the new ANA Board was cancelled last year when it came to light that a team of youngsters who were not in the old bureacracy were the frontrunners?  The Youth team stood for "Accountability and Transparency" and the threat they posed in cleaning up the ANA and potentially bringing to light years of financial abuse (including the $80K loss in Boston) was too great a risk for the old guards to remain silent.  There is little doubt in my mind that the current ANA Board and the members of the past agreed to form a coalition agreeing to keep the youngsters at bay...The irony: These youth members are the ones who take part in the ANA every year in Sports and cultural programs (the bread and butter of the convention but surprisingly they're nowhere in the ANA Board).

In addition, you can forget about the next 2 points above by the ANA: "Elect the ANA Board of your choice" or "Take ownership of the ANA" because that is not happening anytime soon either.  I wonder what became of ALL the funds that were sent in for the voting process.  My rough estimate is that it could've been anywhere between $5-10K where supporters from various voting factions sent in their voting member dues SOLELY to vote for their candidates of choice.  This, to be clear was NOT a registration fee for the covention!  Also, each candidate standing for a postion in the ANA Board had to deposit $100 for their candidacy.  What irks me and I know is that NONE of the candidates were returned their funds even though the elections were cancelled.  It's cleary about time that the funds were returned to those who sent in their membership dues in order to vote (since they did not register during the convention) and also to the ANA Board candidates since the elections were not held as promised.

All in all, for the attendees, save your registration money and spend it on 2-3 drinks at the bar instead.   I can assure you that the satisfaction you get will vastly outweigh the potential headache that would come about as per the fineprint!

ANA Dallas- good luck to you guys. We know that none of you will benefit a penny yet volunteer your own time, money, and resources to conduct this convention- for other Nepalis. All of you have volunteered for this bravely despite anonymous onliners bad mouthing you. Don't let anonymous nincompoops discourage you. I would like to be there in Dallas, working on it.

MNO- you are quite right. If you check ANA's history there are multitude of charities, organizations, events that have come out of ANA conventions. The forums so many deride usually turn into an organization of their own or the projects started there.

universal truth- you are correct when you have full information. You are right that ANA should return the fees of those who became members to participate in the election after DC convention last year and return what the candidates had deposited.  Keeping that money is like ordering something and not getting your purchased goods and not getting returned the money. But the election was cancelled because the old guard filed lawsuit seeking injuction against it. Look it up online, it is public record. The 80K loss everyone talks about it in actuality was on paper as projected. The independent organizing commitee of the Boston convention never submitted the final report. The loss projected was only on paper as per the final indepndent report that audited it and the published it publicly last year. The Boston convention organizers people need to speak up about what happend to the 80K loss that was reported? Was it for real?

Kurli must be an ANA official pointing fingers now. he he It is obvious they would rather point fingers than resolve the matter.  Just shows their incompetence. And yet have the audacity to defend themselves. Nakaacharaa haruu !!!

Study the Law before you pay the money.

who are young generations? 20 - 30 years or 30 - 40 years?

who are conducting the ANA convention in Dallas? Are they all old generation i.e 30+

Can 20-30 years old people conduct ANA convention? We need experienced old people too not only young blood.

What happen to summerfest? Anyone has any idea?
Everyone remember the first i.e. ANA, nobody remembers the second. Three Idiots dialogue. They just tried to copycat ANA.

how come DC convention in a profit despite all those rumors?

There are good people out there and rotton ones in the middle of those.

ANA is nothing but a big waste of time and money. I was at ANA few years ago and it was a big waste of my money (it is expensive if you add up all the fee) and my nice 4th of July weekend. Here is how it went:

-I paid some registration fee online and later found out that it was not even needed there. My $48(24 *2) gone for nothing.

-My college frat parties were lot better than the DJ party they had which was around $30/person

-Their fashion show kinda remind me of old Nepali proverb “हग्नेया लाई भन्दा द्खेने लाई लाज "

-Soccer match was 50 minutes far from hotel which was not worth the drive.

-Concert…What concert, it was over before it started because of some technical difficulty they had. Of course we didn’t get our $28 refund, neither any of the organizers offer any apology.

-And the attitude of people there was just something. Most guys were drunk and in mood to fight and most girls were just happy to show some skins and hoping someone might actually look at them.
I think I spend around $700 that weekend at ANA which could have been gone for better cause in Nepal. Sorry no more of this ANA crap for me.

mr C. Ronaldo:
you do realize you can visit different cities in the US irregardless of ANA being hosted in one of these cities right? If ANA is the best part of your life, your life truly must suck ass...

well who am i to judge but in my opinion ANA is shameless organization with no honesty and accountability.

No, but I would rather pay full price than to have to deal with bunch of drunk buffoons in the hallway trying to beat each other up over a girl they don't even know.
