 Hello freids,
I will be getting married in few months and i would like to know the costs of wedding in Nepal. How much does the best Band Baaja cost in Nepal ? and how about the Party ?
I am thinking of Band Baaja and Panche Baaja....If you have any idea about how much they cost, please share with us.
How much would the wedding cost total ? I've 20 Lakhs (Nrs) and i don't know if that's enough for what i am planning.

Thanks.

Congratulations Brother on your wedding !

Marriage is a sacred ceremony whereby you and your chosen one commit to share each other's sorrow/happiness for life. It is my personal belief that the start of such pious ceremony should be done in a humble manner. This means that you should avoid the idea of spending too much on your marriage. If I were you, I'd get married in a temple, invite a few cooks at home for cooking food for the guests right at home (not at expensive hotels), and invite only the necessary people for the wedding.

Brother, wedding is not about showoffs. It's a sacred ceremony. Things to consider:

1. Expensive weddings are social malpractices that burden the poor and middle class. We hear frequent news about a girl / father / family commit suicide because they cannot afford the cost of these weddings. In many cases, newly married brides are tortured and burnt alive just because they were not able to give dowry or expensive gifts. If we, the educated ones of the society, start a tradition of simple marriage (no showoffs, heavy expenses, no dowry), then it will set examples and ecourage people to follow our pattern. It will save many brides from being burnt alive or remaining unmarried. Doing so, we will get a share of God's blessings. Otherwise, we would have to take up the karmic debt produced by our marriage malpractices because of which the purity, integrity, and harmony in society is disturbed. We would be partly responsible for the evil it creates.

2. If you have so much money, start some good work with it. 20 lakh rupees is a lot of money. If you put it in bank, it will yield 2 lakh rupees in interest every year in Nepal. You can use this money in many good works- paying for your kids school, medical expenses of your parents, running your family, etc. If you think that this money is immaterial to you, you can donate this money to the poor. There are many helpless/homeless people in the streets of kathmandu. Some of them have really poor health; take these people to the hospital and use your money to treat/feed them. If you don't have time, just donate your money to some good works. You will get the blessings of God. Your wife / family / relatives / society will always remember your good work and be proud of you.

Money is a sakar swaroop of Goddess Laxmi. Do not spend her unwisely. Making good use of money for the welfare of the society is equivalent to worshipping the Goddess herself, and you will never fall short of money throughout your life.

I am kind of a guy who will get mad if i couldn't spend lot of money in my Wedding.. I want to get married very nicely no matter how much it will cost and i will not use any money from my parents. All the money will be my earned money.
Yo mero "Cheena" ma pani cha....I don't think i'll change my perception no matter what you people say in here.

Is that a showoff ? I don't think so. ..I am not trying to show anybody how much i can spend in my Wedding. It's just that i like to do it. And let me explain ya'll in here: "I was born in a village where there was no Electricity and i came up to this point, made a lot of progress, made some money and now i want to spend money in my wedding as wealthy person does in Nepal......Why should i donate money ? It is my hard earned money and if you have two hands and you can walk, you can be successful no matter how poor you are.. . I am a live example for that.

I started this thread to only know the approximate Total Cost of Wedding in Nepal, not to get your suggestion on whether i should donate money or save it in a Bank. I won't do that.

I appreciate your time though.

Thank you.

Purana Kagaz.

hey bro good luck for your marriage. i was there in nepal in last summer and attained many marriage ceromony. and my brother marrige ceromony too. these days in nepal , most of the party are organized in party mall, or party palace. and u will find so many these days in nepal. the actual cost of the party depends on the per person. the cheapest cost u will find is Nrs 450 to 500  per person. and the expensive goes to NRS 700 to 800 person. and its up to u what kind of food u like to have. and this price includes the cost of the party palace itself. so if u are inviting 500 people. the total cost would be multiply per person cost to the no of people.and

secondly. excluding food , u will have to buy your own cold drinks, beer and wine. its up to u how much u want to keep in the party, normally the party palace where u hire, they can provide all those cold drinks , beer and wine, but if they provide for u , it will be too costly. its better to buy all those drinks from outside and ask the party palace manager.

third about the band . i my frends wedding we played  a live band in the party. so we just hired the sound system, and spend about 8000 nepalese rupees. and if u need some live band in the party. they charge around Nrs 20,000 . it up to u how u bargain.

finally if u need a band for the janti , i don't know exactly, i heard that its cost like Nrs 30,000. but i am not sure abt this wedding band

Good for you. Like somebody said, the money you spend will help contribute the local economy. I've been reading sajha on/off since 2002, I think it would serve everybody well to back off on moral lecturing, it gets repetitive and boring. Let the boy spend his money.

TRULY SPEAKING, THIS IS A SILLY THREAD. YOU CAN SPEND AS MUCH AS YOU WANT ON A WEDDING--EVEN THEN IT WON'T BE ENOUGH. SO THE QUESTION REALLY IS---- HOW MUCH DO YOU WANT TO SPEND? THEN YOU SHOULD PLAN TO MEET THOSE EXPENSES.

purana kagaz,
i didn't think it can cost that much too, as comments above. but lemme put it and see :
basically i wud put it as :
1. sun/gahana ; etc :  depending upon how much tola of gold stuffs for dulahi, and other related primary relatives ( i think u need to buy for some more ppl !) : 1 tola is now 40 thou..so 10 tola wud be 4 lakh for eg. tara 10 tola dherai nai ho..
2. kapada:  keta ko lagi : kati jor suit ani aru kapada (upon you), costs depends from 8000 to dunno know 20, 30 +(if u go for branded)..3. kapada : keti ko lagi : bridal dress, etc..tannai dinu parla yeha chain ( :)..u can discuss..again sari can cost 25 thou + and so are designer kurtas....may be 2- 3 lakh (bihe ko lagi, pacchi ko shopping ta it depends)
4. venue (gharmai mandap bhaye kuro sakiyo)..janti liyera keti ko ghar gayo.kuro khattam :) tara yedi party palace/mandir ho bhane ta ..as s/m said above the costs of party place woudl be included..so nominal cost
5.  Food: yo ta simple hisab as above (depending upon u choose a good party palace) : Rs 700 times no. of invitees ! (let's say 700X 400) bhaneko 2 lak 80 hajar bhayo
BUT
since u wanna go for the best if u choose a : 5 Start hotel (soaltee, Annapurna) or a 4 start (everest) or a 3 Star...etc.. do the maths. (tara hotels pani sud be okay, as its a good busines sfor them too..may be add 300 more : 1000/pax : i.e. 4 lakh
6. band/baja : may be not more than 25,000 (unless u want a celebrity singer or a band !)

yo bhanda aru kharcha chain ke hola ra ?

hunewala dulaha lai badhai cha :) bhaye pachi yeso hami lai pani idea dinus hai saathi.
good luck

Cost depands on your total number of guests and others main cost is food in party palace it per person start form 400 to 1000 depands total pax ,quality and brand in average 700 about nepali baja( can be hire from nepal police or amry band) need to pay 25000 i thik to the organisation cost of transportation food and tips extra other  cost is jwelery total peace of jwelary depands on you culture so try to make a list so that you can do budgeting

in your amount you can do average function but if you are thining to do duhum dham ko bibaha need  more i think

i sugget you book a party palace in advance that is also improtant
