What else I need?
I was so happy; it was my last day at college. My dream was coming true. I was going to study in USA majoring in Nursing. On the way to college I was thinking how my friends are going to react when they find out I am leaving them for several years. Who knows when are we going to meet again?
Finally I reach there. I told my entire close friend about me going to USA for further studies, All of them knew I was in process but still they all were shock to find out about its really time for me to leave.
None of my close friends attain the class; we were enjoying the sun outside. Nobody cares about professor. Everyone was teasing me that I am going to forget all of them; I am going to marry a handsome blue eyes, blond hair American boy. Although it was my last day we all are having good time.
Ravin walks by “What going on fellows?
We all were surprise because we hardly see him in the college. He was one of those who miss lot of classes. He was not that close friend of mine. We just knew each other as a classmate.
Simi said, “Perfect timing Ravin, “Geeta is going to leave us forever, She is going to USA”. Ravin said, “Well that’s nice, when are you leaving?”
I said, after 20 days. And we all said goodbye to each other.
I was about to take a bus, I saw Ravin again. He said he was waiting for me; he needs to talk to me. I was surprise why he was waiting for me. He said he needs a favor from me. I said I would love to if I could do anything for him. He said his girlfriend is applying for USA and she has a visa interview in 3 days. So he wants me to help her on visa interview since I already got one. That was not the problem for me. I agree and gave him my home phone number and told him, she can call me anytime. He said thank you so much and we both left.
I went home; my mom said a girl name Preena already called you twice. “Preena”!!! Oo now I remember its Ravin girlfriend. I call her back; I share with her what kind of questions has been asked to me. She said she is going to call me again if anything pops up on her head. I said, anytime. After that she keeps on calling me like once a day for some question. She sounds like an innocent girl. It was the day for her visa interview, she calls me in the morning before leaving the house and I wish her luck. Later on that evening I found out she got the visa too and now she wants to fly with me together. I did not have any problem with that. We want to meet once before we leave, so she comes over to my house with Ravin. They both thank me for my help, but there was nothing that I did to her expect for sharing some stuff.

We both fly together up to New York but after that she went to Boston and I went to West Virginia hoping to see each other soon. It was after the week when I finally got access to internet I open up my email there were ten emails from Preena. She was asking about me how am I doing and she also gave me her phone number. I was not able to call; I do not have long distance at my dorm. But I gave her mine. She was staying in the apartment with her sisters’ best friend. That night she call me, we both share how we are missing home and want to go back. She said she is missing Ravin so much. From that day we started talking everyday sometimes 3 times in a day. Even Ravin used to call me and send me email. Every time he used to thank me for taking care of Preena. But in fact there was nothing I was doing for her. Me and Preena were just having good time with each.
Times flies with the seasons, we both were at the end of the semester, I was planning to transfer college at Virginia so that I can work too because in west virgin it’s hard to find the job. Preena said she want to come too since she is always left out in the house. I was happy because I got a company of the good friend. We both process for the same college, and we move to Virginia. For one month we stay at Umesh uncles’ house, he was friend of my dad. Then we rented one studio apt for us. I got a good job at mall. She was working just few hours at subway but we both were happy with what was going on. Moreover we were like sister, sharing all the stuff. She was the innocent kind and I was like her big sister, I always said, do this, do that.
Ravin and Preena were still maintaining the long distance. Ravin once applies for USA but got rejected. It was 2 day before the Christmas I was so busy at the work, I came home late tired just wanted to go to bed. Preena was waiting for me as she always does, we both ate and I said I need to sleep since I have to work next day. It looks like she wants to say something to me but I was not in the mood to ask. Next day on the way to work Ravin call me, he sound happy that he was going to Australia. I was happy for him; I hung up because I reached at my work. I promise to call him that night. I went home, I told Preena that he called and I need to call him back. I was about to call him, Preena said, before you call him I want to tell you something, I want to tell this yesterday but you were tired so I did not. I was like OK, she said, Ravin wants her to apply to Australia. I said what’s the problem with that; she can do that since Ravin cannot come to USA they have to be together sometime. She said she want to go but don’t want to leave me alone, since we just took the apt and the rent is high out here. I said, don’t worry about it. Just go head and apply first and we’ll figure out something about it.
She looks happy after taking to me, I was happy for them too. She apply and she got visa easily too and it was time for her to leave. We decided to terminate the lease of the apt because there was no way I can afford it alone. I decided to stay at one of the Nepali Family house as a paying guest which was near to my college and affordable too.
She went to Australia we both were in contact, they both call me frequently. Preena was having problem with her family because they found out she move to Australia and living with Ravin. Preena was Cheetri and Ravin was Magar. They had an issue with cast as well as Preena laying for the stuff. They were in process to solve but it was like ongoing issues. Her dad stop talking to her and mom always use to cry with her whenever she call. It was same from the Ravin’s family. His dad still doesn’t know about their relation but her mom has a problem with it.

My life was going fine, I was dating one of the boy introduce by Umesh uncle. His name was Kiran. He was nice established man, done with his masters and write now working for IT Company in Texas. I do like him but did not reach to the decision to marry him. He always said he wants to spend rest of his life with me and want to marry soon. I asked him to wait until I graduate. He has all those quality that I was looking in my future husband...nice, caring, loveable and most importantly he understand me. It was my last semester I was getting a lot of pressure from my parents to get married with Kiran since they knew his family. When it was almost a year I have been dating Kiran, I told him one day that I want to marry him as soon as I graduate. Kiran and family were happy to hear my decision. Even I was happy to have a person like him in my life.
Kiran was in Texas so I start looking for job over there because I want to be with him. Finally it was a day of my graduation, my parents were here and even Kiran flies to Virginia. I was so happy with my life; I even got conformation from one of the hospital in Texas for job. My parents want us to get married before they leave and we agree on that.
It’s been a three month that we were married and happily living in Texas. Kiran was even more caring than before. He treats me so well. One day while coming from hospital Preena called. We haven’t talk with each other since I got married. She call me on my wedding day after that I got busy and she might be too. She started crying and said she is coming back to USA. Her mom is so sick and Ravin dad got heart attack when he knew about their relation and was in ICU at emergency room. Ravin has to go back and they decided to move on since their family is suffering a lot because of their relation. I feel bad from them; I told her I can do whatever I can for her. I help her to transfer to one of the University in Texas. She came back to USA to start a new life. Ravin calls me to thank and ask me to take care of Preena. Both of them decided not to get married with anyone else. Me and Kiran were leaving in one bedroom apt we move to two bedroom when Preena got transfer to Texas university.

Preena missed her so many classes in Australia so she still have almost two years of college left. I help her go to college, find job, buy new car, pay tuition fee and we did not worry about rent money. She was all settle in four month. She was still in touch with Ravin. They were trying to move on slowly. I was so happy to have Preena in my life for one more time. I was so happy with life, a caring husband and a girlfriend like a sister who was always there for me. I don’t think I was dreaming for anything more at that time.
Life was moving on, three of us were living like a family. I do have to work night shift in hospital like 3-4 times in the month. Kiran was busy with his work because he just got promoted as a senior manager; Preena was busy with her school and work. But still we all were happy. It was a busy month for me; it has been like more than 2 weeks I did not get chance to spend time with Preena. One day I came home from night duty, I found Preena at home, usually she will be gone by that time. She looks upset; I asked her she said nothing, not feeling good. I went to sleep and woke up in the afternoon when Kiran was home. We decided to go to dinner but Preena said she doesn’t want to. I did not force her, she usually act so if she miss Ravin. I was off for two days, Preena did not talk to me well, I asked her so many times, she said nothing. I was worried so I decided to call Ravin. He said he have no idea because it’s been like month they haven’t talk. I was working evening shift that day, so I left thinking to talk to her tomorrow. But when I came home at midnight I found her crying and Kiran was there too. I asked her to share with us what happen? I told her, we are always there to support her no matter what the situation is. Finally she speaks up she said it loud “I am pregnant, and its Kiran’s baby”. I was like lost, feel like something hit me so hard in my head. I just sat on the floor. Kiran came near to me and said, “I am so sorry baby, I love you, let me explain”. All I can hear at that time was Preena crying. I prefer not to hear any explanation and I left the apt.
