Dear dhhirajojha,

I appreciate your talent and enthusiasm in sharing your video production in sajha. However, I would like to remind you of Sajha Acceptable Use policy that you can see in the about us page http://sajha.com/sajha/html/about.cfm which clearly states the following:

"if a user continuously
shows animosity towards a certain ethnic group, religious group, etc. This kind
of action will alienate certain section of the Nepali community and that goes
against the main objective of sajha.com"

I sincerely hope you can channel your creativity and excellence in video production in making people aware of other important issues facing Nepal and Nepalis. I am sure you can find many topics of interest in the current state of Nepal.

Your postings so far are not going to be deleted right away, but please be informed that Sajha does not encourage any animosity towards any race, religion, ethnicity and political beliefs, and action will be taken against any subsequent postings of that nature.

Right now, our country is going through tough times; many propagandas meant to divide us and we cannot afford to propagate such hatred. If we listen to the world news, we see the institution of humanity deteriorating at a very fast pace. As a human being, the least we can try to do is spread the message of humanity when and where we can. We cannot be bickering about our ethnicity when the future of Nepal and humanity is at peril.

Thank you for your kind consideration to this matter.

Best Regards

San: Thank you very much for your attention. It makes us all sad that people still do not get the importance of harmony especially in turbulent times. You have once again shown that Sajha refuses to part of divisive agendas and made us all proud. Way to go.

I think this should act as warning to dhiraj ojha not to post similar videos on Sajha.  In one video his topic was " Dhoti and Sutala". But the guy in that video speaks nepali in madhesi accent. This again shows he says madhesi as being an Indian. He is taking this matter too far.

playing the race/ethnic card is one of the most commonly used forms of comedy, second only to stereotyping (a close relative anyway). All of the top comedians of our times have used the race card to create laughter ( some more than others)--is it offensive, yes-- but hilarious as well. This  form of comedy goes back to the Greco-Roman era and has been around for centuries.

I have laughed my arse off watching a Carlos Mencia make fun of just about every ethnical group out there

I have had a jolly good time watching Chris Rock make fun of his own kind

I howled with laughter when our very own Samde Sherpa made fun of the way Tenzing Norgay supposedly gave his first interview after conquering Mt Everest.

And of course, I have seen threads here in Sajha where links have been provided for clips of the up and coming comedian, Russell Peters-- his major schtick being making fun of Indians and other Asians.

I can name many more--Seinfeld, Dangerfield, Pryor, Carlin amongst them--who have used this form of comedy to bring laughter to millions of people in the US. I am sure its the same elsewhere as well.

I have seen the audiences at their shows, and I have seen how these comedians point out to specific faces in the crowd before and after they make their targeted jokes. If we as a nation and a community are striving to move forward together, shouldnt we first learn to look past this and take it exactly as it was intended to be?

I can understand the outrage over a 'specific' ethnicity being targeted here, but in no way would like someone as creative as dhirajojha be shut down in a public portal like Sajha because of this. San bro, I am very much against this, even though you have made it clear (with your rulebook) why you could 'ban' posts like these.

If it gets banned, I would like to thank dhirajojha for at least giving me some much needed laughter this past week. There's always youtube broda.

my two cents

Jhyalincha, I totally understand your point of view and agree that ethnic and racial difference can be used for much needed comic relief. I too think it's perfectly ok to make fun of others as long as you can make fun of yourself too. The examples you gave are of real people, using racial/ethnic anecdotes to pass along humor. I believe that if you can be open about your real identity then you can pass along such humor with relatively more ease.

You have to also consider the derogatory language used in twake videos. Although some ethnic humor can be tolerated, derogatory humor cannot be considered kosher where you call someone a MF or some other offensive expletive based on his/her ethnicity or race.

For those who is against these videos;

If You don't like his videos then don't watch them...let other people enjoy. You guys should do something else, something really creative, rather than censoring his videos. Everyone has freedom to express his/her views. Twakee Production isn't gonna segregate Nepal into pieces, it's just for entertainment...Well, if his vidoes are banned in Sajha, everyone's gonna watch Youtube....I support Mr. Ojha and appreciate his work for all the laughs and fun,...I don't take anything seriously.

I have a friend and he was greatly hurt by twake video. Specially one where he calls " Madhesi lai Laat laat le hirkaunu parcha ani desh bata nikalnu parcha". He was absolutely shocked.   I felt bad too.

San, you have points about sajha policies and we appreciate this. But have you ever noticed some guys like no_quiero trying to exaggerate the cartoons. Isn't there any tools to kickout those oversmarts. Why dont they think "First Nepali and then madheshi, pahade". Those idiots are here supporting the separatists/terrorists trying to displace certain community (pahade) from madhesh.

San bro, language is derogatory I agree---but I have seen far worse threads here in Sajha, and yes you have tried your best to regulate them, but we all know by now how close to impossible it is--you can always use alternatives to get your point across (for example, you most likely would know what S**T stands for). I have also seen many threads with ethnocentric remarks as their titles, except they were not trying to be funny, they were just plain mean.

I am still not convinced with your argument (this being a web based forum, anonymity is and should be an option unless targeting a specific individual), but I dont see the point in making this bigger that it is. I was just a fan who tremendously enjoyed this 'creative' funnyman and his voice overs--so a little feedback was necessary. I know you personally, and I know you are a very good/rational person. Look forward to seeing you in San Fran.

To everyone else, racism/stereotyping only becomes serious if you let it be. I grew up in times where best friends gave each other nicknames based on their ethnicity (maade, baje, pakum, jange, tharu to name a few) and that did not diminish our friendship. Neither was it derogatory in our minds.

Maybe times have changed. Maybe my country has indeed gone back in time instead of moving forward in unison without ethnicity being an issue.

Maybe now someone like me would be considered an alien back home and kicked out for such 'radical' thinking.

my two (and final) cents.

If you can try to be fair between madheshi and pahade. Dont care about the content of cartoons. try to appreciate good artwork.

Mr.Ojha. you plan to kick out dhotis? with a cartoon?

it was best not to know the person behind these productions, suddenly they seem less appealing because of your apparent lack of solid personality.

The 1st cartoon won me over, I thought, wow, Nepal pani agadi badi racha. I did think abt the content, but no matter, it was just for a joke, it was funny. But then you Mr.Ojha, completely lost your cool, and as evident from the 1st post on this thread, began to take your jokes a little too seriously.

Good luck with your mission to annhilate all dhotis on this planet. My sincerest hope that you succeed in this glorious conquest of yours to achieve salvation for my dear country.

If dear Ojha succeeded in obliterating Dhotis from the face of the Earth, his fans would have to do without watching his "hilarious creations" as well. He learnt to hate dhotis, but apparently didn't learn to showcase his talent to the rest of the world without plagiarizing the work of the same people that he hates so much. LOL I find this paradox much more hilarious than anything that he's ever created.

Well said, dekdhidriver and mokshya.

I thoroughly enjoyed the voice-overs. Yes, they were covered in profanity but that’s the part I especially enjoyed. To my dismay, however, dhhirajojha seems to have an ulterior motive that has drastically altered my perception and appreciation for these clips. This type of unwarranted hatred
towards anybody, be it Nepalese, Indians, or Martians, is much unwarranted. As mokshya points out, the use of Indian cartoons to drive the same people out is ironic to say the least.

Bottom line, the clips used to be awesome. They had me cracking up over and over again. Now, after finding out that you have an agenda targeting a specific group of people, I am no longer amused by them. Disappointing.
