Guys and gals,

I am safe; and hope all are. As you may have heard or read there have been a series of blasts in London this morning. While it is highly likely - and there is a strong indication - that these were the act of terrorists, it is still to early to speculate; but these multiple blasts have caused meyham and confusion. A large number of casualties have been reported and police claim that the situation is now under control.

My thoughts and prayers are with our Nepali brothers and sisters who may have been caught in this tragic event!

London update:
Police has confirmed at least 2 peoples were killed in the explosions at Aldgate east underground station.
Explosions reported at Liverpool street, Aldgate East, Edgware Rd, Kings Cross, Moorgate, Russell Square tube stations and a double decker bus at Tavistock Square destroyed by an explosion. Another bus also said to be attacked.
Large number of people seriously injured, casualty figures expected to rise. Al Queda suspected. Rescue operations effectively underway.

Aile samma, Nepali haru pareko kunai hint chhaina. I guess none are significantly affected.

London underground shut down, central London bus services suspended.

Situation confusing. Nepalese brothers and sisters, stay where you are. NO reason to panic.

[A letter posted on a Web site frequently used by al-Qaida claims that the "Secret Organization of al-Qaida in Europe" is responsible for today's massive terrorist attack in London. In it, the group also issues warnings to Denmark and Italy.

death toll could be in the 40s.
terrorists seem to convey- look! what we can inflict against you. Relatively low fatality from this highly coordinated attack gives a message to the Blair government to withdraw support to the US. Terrorists were trying to generate maximum psychological fear on the londoners limiting the human loss but showing their destruction capability.

Terrorism has no justification but world problems should be addressed in a totally different way to avert such senseless attacks. Terrorists are after all human beings and unless human grievances are addressed in a much broader scale, there is no way to prevent terrorism.

I don't see why I can't be mad at the bombers and at the leaders who failed to stop it/contributed to the political atmosphere that made bombing a desirable thing to do.

back on topic, I don't see this as having a huge political fallout, these aren't surprising anymore. I'd be more worried about the financial fallout.

So much for Bush-Tony duo's war on terror...

If a super power and its strongest ally can't figt terrorism effectively with so much focus on militarism, perhaps it's about time other smalleer countries around world took a serious note of this.

This is the consequence of the terror created by Bush and Blair. You are right Poonte Dai, war on terror is so much talk about but nothing effective in an action. Would they have made their home safer rather going after Iraq, London Basi wouldn't have face such catastrophe blasts.

One of the two thing sooner or later will happen -

1. Either English Janata will go after Muslim and a-look-alike muslim in every edge and corner of london. English are not as liberal as American. This may ignite hate crime against muslim, indian subcontinental.

2. Or English will blame Tony Blair for what just happened. If I were among them I would have gone after Blair, he made his people a scapegoat just to make an American happy.

War against terrorist may invite WW 3 from the UK soil: a war between Muslim extremists and the rest of the world. As pieces says British people may go against these fanatics like a mad because they are more untolerable and more impatient. They are sure to put much pressure on the Govt. Let's wait and see.

So far: 4 explosions confirmed; 3 in trains and 1 in a doublr-decker bus. 37 fatalities; and about 700 people injured; among them 200 are seriously injured. It is believed it was carried out by a al-Quida group. Check this for more up-to-date news: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/4661273.stm

So basically WW3 could be a clash among different civilizations.
It might not be too long before someone similar to Hitler rises up and start ethnic cleansing.

It was so scary being at home all day. Throughout the morning and afternoon, televisions broadcast the traumatising aftermath of the attacks. Images of victims, rescue efforts, security and political maneuverings. A colleague from a different department of my workplace also gave a harrowing account of the blast that took place in the train he boarded, from the hospital bed . Everything suggested that London is in deep shock today, that people have been greatly affected by the terrorist attacks.

In the late afternoon, I started for central London. The streets were not crowded, but the people were moving. Locals looked sad and grim, for others it seemed they cared little about what happened in the morning. Everybody were chatting almost normally. The only difference between yesterday and today was that I could see no couples hugging and kissing each others during the entire journey. Oh only few laughed open-heartedly.
But then the pubs were open. They were almost full as usual.
The parks and squares were, however, almost deserted.

Cars and Buses speeded through the roads, relatively with ease because of the hollow traffic. My bus took me through one of the stations which was hit by the explosion. The area was cordoned but there was no sign of what happened underground. It went past the city centre leaving behind the palace, paraliament, Pime Mnisters office but there was hardly any hint that London had suffered the loss of 40 odd lives and 700 more injuries today morning.

By the evening, London has almost come to terms. I got off from my bus and entered a grocery. There were staffs, white and black, asian and arab. A white lady served me with a smile on her face. I thought she is a human just like me , not a politician.

The train service has already resumed from the station that saw the highest number of death tolls. All other tube stations are expected to resume their services from tomorrow. I am sure, I will see the rush, the laughing and swearing and kissing and hugging from tomorrow.
Out of the 7 million Londeners less than 50 lost their lives, less than a thousand were injured. The memory will remain lasting for those who escaped death. But for others? This day will be forgotten soon. People will be drained in their daily living. Without getting on, how could they feed themselves?

For some days, politicians, journalists, polices and terrorists leaders will have some fodder for themselves. After a month, everything forgotten.

Madrid happened, London happened and there will be another in the line. This cycle goes and goes.

''So what?'', say Bush, Bin Laden, Blair, Zarqawi. Not to forget our own Gyanendra and Prachanda. Yes you have to face it more frequently. Terrorism and anti-terrorism doesn't affect you unless you die. Once you die, you are gone. So be prepared to die anyday. To fulfill the desires of Bush and Bin Laden. To fulfill the ambitions of Gyanendra and Prachanda. This is what power and politics means. Mankind! Be prepared for death in the hand of these unmasked and masked butchers.
