Hey dude from newzeland! yeah it does sucks. This one of the factor i am scared to go to nepal. I have learned something good from west. I think ppl is going to call me snob for that , i am not pretending there. It is part of my life as well.

The West that you are so proud of today will one day not hesitate to kick you out like a dog, once they find out you are no longer useful to them. It's very easy to live upon the Western countries as a parasite and criticise your own motherland. But a time may come when you have to face the reality and return back to Nepal. What are you going to do then? Hopefully you will realise that "table manners" are not as important as you think they are.

There is noway of being scared of adaption. The entire thing is adaption. Even from moving house to changing into youth from baby till die. Everything is adpatation. The whole issue about adpatation gives u entire answer. Our human body can be adapted everywhere. I was reading about this guy who made a documentry on junk food. He was eating mac donalds 24/7 for month. One day he felt like his heart beat is going to stop.His cholestrol level rised doctor warned him to stop it. He didnot give up, he did it for months, he put on extra weight which took him year to lost.
Even with the medical refrences our body can adapt according to enviroment then what a big deal about nepal the place where i lived and was born?

Well its not a good thing to do but still no big deal for me..Personally I would care less about stuffs like that...Being a non-smoker I am pissed when smokers make cloud around me...I think smoking should forver be banned...you walk down the street..someone is smoking...and I mean its is indirectly affecting me..If I was in decision making position I would tax ciggs so mcuh that he would cost more like cocaine.

Anyway I am one of those guys..who is very felxible about dinner table manners..Well I dont make sound while eating or anything like that but I really to hate be super FORMAL when it comes to eating...

Thats a bad example for a role model to give in a public. I personally do not have any thing with that BUT these pple should set some standard so that kids could look up to their role models. That how younger fans learn from their celebrities..If that celebrity cant keep the standard then he/she is of no celebrity.

And what are we slaves of the western world that we want to copy them? eat like them ? sleep like them? wipe your arse like them? what happened to our own identity? why do we have to act like them if we want to feel better about ourself? why are they always right and whatever they do is style and whatever we do is lack of manners?.... i tell you why, it's cuz of the people like you who are insecure about your identity.

While many manners considered fine in one culture may be rude in another, we surely cannot base that as an excuse during the times when our judgement is required for an appropriate action or manner relative to a situation. While the nepali celebrity in the picture clearly doesn't know how to hold a knife and a fork in his hands or how to use it which is understandable since we eat with our hands in our culture, smoking however, while eating is clearly not a good mix. You don't need to be a rocket scientist to figure that out. And I don't think Moneyminded in anyway is trying to mean that one should be westernized and copy everything from the western culture, like some of you have suggested. While I do not advise anyone to copy everything from another culture, I think it is at least wise to copy what is right and meaningful from another culture and drop those that make no sense from our own. Otherwise we'll forever be "Kuwa Ko Bhagwuata."

As an example let me tell you my experience. I knew a guy from India who once did a pretty big engineeering project for US Air Force. The US Air force people were very pleased and invited him for lunch which he declined. I asked him why he had declined such an honorable invitation, for which he replied, "Well if I go for that Lunch, I would have to eat with fork and knife, and I don't know how to use them." He has been here for more than 2 years.
