I am in a pickle. After doing a lot research, I submitted for my TPS EAD and I got rejection notice saying "the eligibility code you provided on your I765 requires proof that an I-821 has been submitted. Please resubmit your Form I765 with a copy of your Form I-821 receipt notice.
Please be sure to complete the application fully, submit the appropriate fees, and include all the required supporting documentation. "

I did submit my TPS approval valid from 6/25/2018 to 6/24/2019. I thought we don't have to submit for I-821 and this one got automatically extended. I sent $410. Was I also supposed to send I-821 form with the fee?

I think that's how you submit. I'm surprised. When did you file? They did not accept the application at the first place? Meaning you never got the receipt number etc? If you could explain more.

I submitted a month ago and I never received a receipt or a text. Yes, they didn't accept it.
This is what I did:

Documents submitted:
-That torn off slip for an extension or replacement card and underneath the check
-$410 check to the U.S Department of Homeland Security with my signature and then
- Form G-1145 (e-Notification of Application/Petition Acceptance ( To get a text message)
-I-765 which expires on the 05/31/2019 and I did sign and put all the information. (
Every page I see some kind of number and the first page of I-765 numbers at the bottom (those stamp/printed numbers have been crossed)
-Then I put the TPS approval notice with validation from 06/25/2018 to 06/24/2019 (the one which includes a section that says detach this half for personal records at the bottom.
-Previous work authorizations including OPTs, front and back (Do I have to include all the work authorization?)
-Visa copy
-Passport copy (Expired and valid both)
- I-94 copy front and back
- I-20 issued by school, not with written OPT ( I also sent the same when I applied for OPT)
-Valid Driver license front and back

Now what on Earth, I missed or went wrong ???????????????

I don’t see any circle or missed part on my application. Everything seems fine. What should I do differently??????

Friends, I do need some serious suggestion/help here. This is very very important. So, please share your knowledge and experiences.

I am in the same situation. I did not found any federal notice to re-register for TPS (file I-821 form). But my EAD application is rejected.
I am not sure why they are rejecting. So, I send them again filling out I - 821 form, $85 check today.

Actually I got rejection packet two times with same rejection reason. For first rejection, I thought the processing staff was confused and print the federal notice of auto extension and note explaining the situation.
But I got rejected again( send my packet back to me with green sleep again) with same rejection reason.
I really need EAD, so I again send the same EAD documents (I-765, green slip, $410 check, photos, copy previous TPS letter ) and also I -821 form, $85 check.

I am not sure what I am supposed to do.

What was the eligibility category on the form? If you are applying just for EAD based on previously approved TPS, your eligibility category is (a)(12). If you put (c)(19) then, you need to submit TPS app also, but that eligibility category does not apply to you. Double check you app.

I paid $495 including 85$ for i821. I filled under a(12) and i sent form i821 as well.

I have an update. I just received a very urgent fedex delivery with a letter from USCIS stating that my application was rejected in error and that I should submit the same application again. I believe this is because Adhikaar might have sent my info to uscis.

If your existing TPS EAD expiry date was June 24, 2019 or even 2018, it is automatically extended through March 24, 2020. No need to apply for another EAD.

@arko I only applied for TPS which was valid till 2019, I didn't apply for TPS EAD that time because I had OPT but My last TPS EAD expired on 06/24/2018, I never heard of that: it would be extended till 2020. Do you have a link or something?

@mester_ba do we have to send pics with i821 registration?

If your last TPS ead doesn't say expires 6/24/19 then it has already expired.
Only ead that came with the last re-registration period have been auto extended.

@maxpayne exactly that's what I thought too. Mine is expired because the last TPS EAD expiration date was 06/24/2018. Do you have any idea if we are supposed to re-register for TPS even the expiration date was 06/24/2019? I though it was automatically extended but EAD got rejected based on that.

@UNITYISPOSSIBLE : I have sent picture for EAD application.(I never had TPS EAD before).
I have sent both I - 765 application and I- 821 registration in the same packet.

I got rejected twice. My TPS has expiration date 6/24/2019 and they auto extended.

This time you should include a cover letter stating that you have a valid TPS status as per the federal register, additionally mention the court case mentioned on the TPS page for Nepal and would like an ead.

Mention the reason behind not having ead during the last period to be opt and include that EAD.

Add copy of the usicis request that said reapply. Hopefully they accept this time.

If your EAD has expired in jun 24 2018 and you still have that, it is also extended till Match 2020 automatically. All you need to show your employer for work is the expired EAD and the federal notice from

@maxpayne, it's a little to late to do that because I already sent it back. I added 85$ and filled out that i821 form for re-registration because I didn't want to take a chance. There was nothing else I could do and I didn't have this kind of useful suggestion at that time. I did include the reapply paper.
I didn't know I could write a cover letter and print it out and include it with the package. :(

@chelsa yes adhikaar told me the same, that we can submit the same package. But some people got rejected twice. I don't understand how they can do it twice and later they claim it to be right and their fault. It's already late for me, If I don't receive it soon, I will lose my job. They kept it for a month and sent it back.
