I have used both iPhone and Android and one thing really amazes me and that is why are people so crazy about iphone specially since androids do pretty much the same thing infact more!

It's probably because of marketing but I am not sure yet. Do you have any idea why people act like zombies for their love of their iPhones???

Well, one thing you can always expect from Apple is well polished products and a pretty darn good user interface. People will blindly buy an iPhone over other phones because they just trust apple will deliver a solid product. Most of the time that is the case. Android is a good product but I find it pretty buggy. There are too many small things that add up and gets me frustrated. Since Apple makes its own hardware, it can optimize iOS to run flawlessly. Android does not have that luxury as it has to tailor itself to work on different hardwares. I have used iPhone, Android phone, and Windows Phone (Mango). My preference after 4 years of experience is iPhone first, Windows Phone second and Android phones third. At the end of the day I don't want my cell phone to try to do big things as long as it can do the small things flawlessly. Plus from a price stand point, iPhones are getting dirt cheaper compared to the Android phones. Who'd want to miss out. Peace out.

You got it. I'm comparing iOS vs Android OS. The phones are only as good as their OS in my opinion. Having a snapdragon processor or  an 8 MP camera, which is kinda getting pretty standard these days, does not really impress me.

Andrioed side: Samsung Sucks and HTC is bulky big and ugly.

IPhone is better from all of the above angles and they have improved their call dropping issue. ....

well I used to have iPhone and now I have android. So far I like android because first thing I can install any application searching from google like we do on windows. And I watch lots of offline movies on my phone so I don't need to convert them like in iphone. And I like changing roms. If I don't like one user interface I can change to another one since there are so many roms. I can tweak OS myself if I don't like. Those things I can't do on iPhone. But I like switching phones.May be when my contract expires I will buy Iphone again. Since there are so many options to buy phone why not use all of them?

I agree with utousucks in some aspects but in my opinion android is not far behind iphone either. I have been using android phone since the begining. I bought the first android phone called G1 back in 2007. It was lagy and too many force closes. Personally I didn't really liked that phone a lot. Then I switched to window phone calles HTC HD2 some time in 2009. Hardware wise this phone is a great phone. I was not familier with the window phones back then, so decided to give it a try. After using it for a week i found out that window 6.5 os is a horrible piece of s**t. Very limited apps, paid apps were too expensive, even the inbuilt alarm clock didn't functioned properly. I was mad with this device and the window os. Luckly I found out a way to load a cooked android rom on HTC HD2. And then I never had to look back again.

First I installed Android Froyo. This OS was amazing. Evev though HD2 was not a native android phone, android ran perfectly. No force close error and the app market were full of amazing apps. I realised that android os has come a long way since the first phone launchd. And then this summer I installed latest Gingerbread cooked Nexus rom. So far, I am thrilled with the proference. What I think is, Android is the future of the mobile OS. It is a open platform OS with the unlimited resource from Google. Developers are working 24/7 to develope the Android. Currently android has the biggest market share in the smart phone business. With the integration of Motorolla Mobility with Google, I clearly see a potential on future android phones.

I am not a big fan of apple but honestly I was eagerly waiting for the new Iphone since summer. I was expecting for something big from iphone. But found out it was not as desairable as I expected. But I bought it any way for my wife. I had an i pod touch before but never had any iphones since I was not an iphone fan boy. There is no doubt that  iphone is currently a great value phone. It has the best hardware and software integration. Touch screen feels smooth and display is great. Game apps are perfect. For a general use iphones is a good choice.

Now lets come to the point. Which one is better? Android or apple OS? Below are some of the facts that will help to decide.

Android:
1. Open source software with endless possibility.
2. Highly customable home screen.
3. Swipe screen unlock and keypad.
4. Customizable widgets.
6. Fast growing apps.
7. Vast selection of devices.
8. Ability to copy files from the computer simply with drag and drop.
9. Easy to tweak OS if you are into programming.
10. Very user friendly. ( at least for me)
11. Hundreds of devices with variable price range.

Iphone (OS)
1. Good hardware and software integration.
2. Game apps are great.
3. Good looking and desirable phone.
4. Smooth touch screen.
5. Best camera and video recording on mobile device.
6. Biggest app market.
7. Presence of itunes and icloud.
8. Great resell value.

So the ultimate decision for which is best, depends upon the individual preference. I personally prefer Android phones because it is highly customizable and user friendly. I can easily drag and drop my mp3 and any video format files on android phones. Basically android can do any thing that ios can do.  Androis is a tool and it is best for those who like to play around with system files. ios on the other hand is great if you go for the looks and games. Other are just the myths.

P.S. : utousucks!! what made you think that window os is better than android?? Just curious :)

Rockey07,
I really like the new Windows OS 7.5 (codename mango). I agree that 6.5 was horrible but Mango is nothing like 6.5. Give it a try and see for yourself. Two reasons I prefer Mango over  Android (Froyo or even Gingerbread),
1. The user interface is probably the best (better than iPhone in my opinion). Fast and responsive.
2. At least  Windows OS (7.5) offers something original (unlike Android which just copied iPhone). No wonder why Steve Jobs was adamant about spending every last penny to bring Android down.

I will agree with you that customization wise Android is much better than iOS. Oh boy I do miss widgets. But I can live with that. With Android my sour experience was that it really suffered when it came to multi-tasking. Whenever I were  in the middle of doing something and received a call, it would freak out. Keypresses would not be correctly recognized and delayed response was a killer to me. It probably was not my phone (happened to me on multiple ones). To me the most important aspect of a cell phone is to handle calls properly, rest is secondary to me. I've had much less issues with iPhone and latest Windows Phone.

utousucks!!
Window 7.5 may be better in user interface but I bet it doesn't have a wide variety of apps like there is on ios or on android. Talking about user interface, I dont think android phones are that far behind now a days. Hardware wise android devices are getting better every time. Just wait for the HTC Edge. Its suppose to run quad core processor. Right now Samsung Galaxy Nexus and Motorola Droid Razer shoud be pretty impressive lookig at the specification. Android has recently anounced that it will be lot smoother with the launch of Ice Cream Sandwitch OS, which will unify the hardware and software resolving much of the known issues. The rate in which android is devoloping looks very promissing.
Like you said I havent faced a lot of issues on my phone, even though my phone is not a native android device. I do have force closure issue sometime :P. Buy hey its pretty amazing seeing HD2 running android without much of an issue. By the way can you name the android phones that you've tried so far. May be that will make some sens.

Sathi ho ekchin distract garchu la,

do you guys know the list of the phones getting the ice cream sandwitch? I use motorolla atrix, but not sure if it will get the ics or not?

Android ra IOs ko war I think will be there.

From what I see,

PPl who don't want to mess with their phone " happy with whatever they get" , ease of use etc - should go for iphone , and hadware wise it is a bargain price.

PPL like engineers - ali ali nerd haru, or tech savy ppl should (and "generally ") go androids.

It is hard to explain but that is what it is.

more over apple product ko consumer satisfation aru bhanda ramro nai cha.  Tara if you want and can think outside the box, android is the way to go.

Peace.

When i use my phone i want to use as mine , i want to determine my homescreen, my widgets , my apps !
iOS and iphone really sucks, why
1) No external memory
2) No easy  file sharing and file explorer
3) same universal  home screen
4) small display
5) NO FLASH ( steve jobs personal ego keep it out )
6) you cant do anything unless you have itunes , are u kiddding me ! I carry my android device and data cable and use on any computer i want !
7) No easy music upload and remove
8) No widgets and customizable icons

utousucks , i dont know which android device youf use but I have used several galaxy s devices and its pretty awesome.
I dont believe in HTC phones though
Motorolla android devices are best although moto blur sucks !
The only thing i dont like on Windows is its market , which is pretty much empty ! But its surely not better than android on any way ( utosucks is apple iSheep fanboy which is just comparing two very different devices )
And folks never make a mistake to take Blacckberry devices.

You can run android devices as you want, as you can not like iPhone. One of my friend(iphone user)  put new ROM and home screen look alike HTC sense and was showing me  , but when i click facebook widgets it was just a picture frame lol
The only thing android dont have is Solid and strong hardware like Apple do. Other wise I call it choice of freedom!

alece extrenal removable memory doesnt just mean increasing stroage of phone. it also means easy sharing files. just taking it out using adopter and share anything u want from pc to phone or phone to pc. no need to have data cable.
some phone on android has battery problem but its not because of os.
4.3" display is considered as standard to watch videos and movies.
