Life in Abroad is really hard for anyone of us. As per my experience I would say going aborad to girls for studies is not good unless you have someone of yours(parents). Married couples are good to go but single i would never suggest.

So if any new girls going to abroad think twice before going to abroad.

Hmm.... this applies not only to gals... applies even to boys too...

But, if you have some sort of assistantship, then you will be able to manage it ... else think..think..

100% crap.

The originator of this thread is still in the past.  Gone are the days when women were subjugated under male dominance - first under the father's and brothers', then under the husband's, and then under the sons'.  With proper planning, clarity of vision, determination and hard work, any one - be it man or woman - can survive and do well anywhere, particularly outside of Nepal and similar societies where people like the orignator of this thread rule the roost.

So, women, more power to you!!!

Yo!!! BetterNepal, u can't even write in articulated english to drive people behind ya and make'em think. Ur english is crap, no wonder why people like ya hate "Amrika". This country is all about strive, survive and revive. Nepal, ain't no heaven. Those who talkin big about Nepal, better than where u are, are mofo parasites, dependent on ur family wealth and dad/mom to provide u with club expenses. Shame on ya....

Just like Nepalinari said,"...if you have a goal in the back of your mind.. No one can stop you from achieving it. I believe in dreams come true so if u have what it takes I say go get it..... ;) ". Absolutely true: This applies for men as well. Do you really think every Nepali men in US has succedded just because they are "Man"? Do you really think someone who could not make a difference in US could make a difference back home? Just a question for you to analyze urself....

Happy Friday ya'll

Its a crap suggestion.
Are you trying to point out the sexual exploitation of gals by the males who they ask for help???? Those sort of people who try to explots someones situation should be hanged to death.
Be strong gals ,, there is nothing as such... planning is always good and calculated risks are part of life....

I am not blaming anyone the  best way to come USA with proper plan and try for some good university not in private university so that you can manage fee to otherwise you have problem to manage fee. Some Private University in USA are money minded they only look for money. That why it is better to think twice before you come USA its not only Girl its for boy tooo but if u have some assistance ship its good.   To come usa is not big deal how to manage is main issue...

Yes, think twice.

Think twice about the opportunities you will have in the US to prove your worth, follow and achieve your dreams, have fun while doing it, kick some stereotyping-idiotic-lost in history-self-doubting-cowardly butts in the process, and live your life the way you want to. Think twice about the doors that will never open in other countries. While you are at it, also think of a little somepin to suport yourself once you get here. You don't need much money as such, but you sure do need a plan based on enough and accurate information to tide you over the first few years, and thinks will usually be alright (unless you screw up royally.) Think twice about that too.

And dont't think twice about kicking nay-sayer asses!

There is nothign wrong with the thread.  I think it is imparative for a girls to knwo where they are going, how they can accomodate and manage their living. Not every place can be called safe to the girl. It is easier to say GIRL POWER and so on. But at the end of the day it is better to be safe than sorry.

Betternepal,

Could you share those experiences that made you come to the conclusion that girls should not go abroad for studies? This would enlighten everybody as to why/how you came about this idea and thus help us understand you better.

f2f,

You mean for-profit universities, not private universities.

Most of the colleges and universities in the United States are private, such as Harvard, Stanford, Duke, etc.  Those that are not private are called state universities, such as Penn State, UCLA, UT, etc.  Whether they are private or public (state), they are all non-profit - meaning their main purpose of existence is research and education.  They do not, will not and can not make profit.  They run mostly on endowments and only 25% or even less of their budget are met by tuition and fees charged to the students.

For-profit universities are, in essence, businesses created to make money for their shareholders.  They make profit from the services they provide, i.e. the income they generate from their students.  The tuition, fees and other charges they collect from the students not only cover their total budget but also provide money (if profitable) to their shareholders.  Strayer University is one of these for-profit schools where lots of Nepalis attend.  University of Phoenix, Devry University, Kaplan University are some more examples.

Obviously, attending public or private non-profit universities is more traditional and prestigious, despite the fact that they may belong to the same accredition board as for-profit institutions.  But for-profit schools can be a viable alternative for those who do not wish to go through the rigor of traditional admission process.  These schools generally do not require standardized tests such as GRE or GMAT.  They are also comparatively lenient on the attendance factor, which obviously speaks volumes of the quality of education you get there, but for some this might be the particular attraction.  They also provide I-20s easily, an alternative that is beneficial to those international students who are at risk of being out-of-status.  Basically you pay, and you do pay, for what you get.  There is little or no scholarship, both monetarily and academically.

So the bottom line is, if your primary goal is intellectual achievement, then your most likely destination will be non-profit, traditional schools - whether public or private.  If you are looking to maintain your visa status and/or you have a fulltime occupation and education or training is more of a part-time endeavour, then for-profit schools are viable alternative.

Regardless of your gender, no matter which part of world you wanna pursue your study, the hard work comes the same way for us (nepali) coz there are hardly any students who are funded  abroad by their parents. I am not saying there are not any but in very thin amount. And if you are a "career-oriented" person  I bet you have that feelings while applying '"I can do any hard works aborad"...Ani if you dream big, you cannot skip all these hard works unless you are "born blessed". In some part of our life, we really have to work hard so why not now? while we are energetic, young and so on. I am sure, all these hard works gonna pay-us-off.....Good luck to all my nepalese bro's and sis! We left the country for good so keep going heheee
