After miss nepal has been cancelled, I am not amazed to see this decision . Everybody knows most of the clubs hits its prime at about midnight.  I am sure there is more to come from this maoist led government.

When all the world are moving forward seems like we are moving backward.

Police to curtail capital's night life

Kantipur Report

KATHMANDU, Sept 7 - Bad news for weekend revelers. Late night disco-hoppers and dance bar goers in the capital better forget about night time unwinding as the authorities have issued a notice calling on disco and bar owners to close after 11pm.

Superitendent of Police Sarbendra Khanal, Chief of Metropolitan Police Range, said the move has come into effect in the Valley to prevent hooliganism and maintain law and order.

On Friday, a huge number of youths planning on staying out late were in for a surprise when restaurants and discos at the major night life hubs like Thamel and Lazimpat, which used to stay open till the wee hours, were ordered to close shop at 11pm.

With Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Bam Dev Gautam speaking about improving law and order in the country within a few days, a large number of police has been deployed during night time.

"In an attempt to thwart hooliganism and maintain law and order in public places, police have come up with strict rules for late night discos and dance restaurants," confirmed SP Khanal, adding that hundreds of police personnel have been deployed in various sections of valley in this connection.

According to him, police issued a notice to close before 11 pm some dance resturants and other establishments which create a noise in public, and strictly warned those who make a nuisance after drinking.

In this connection, police on Friday and Saturday arrested dozens on the charge of hooliganism under the public offence act. SP Khanal said the police had not imposed any new regulations, but old regulations were being strictly enforced.

Way to go Nepal.  Why not just abolish tourism altogether?  It's not like the country makes any money from it anyways...  Watch the number of tourists that detour their trips to India.  For the love of god, its a freakin disco.  If you want to regulate the rowdiness then stop selling acohol after a certain time, maybe midnight.  But to eliminate the source of revenue for the business owners who invested into a country they believed would give them a chance at being successful is only tellings others not to invest in it.  Curent example: Russia

Bringing Law and Order in Nepal is more important than Nite life in Kathmandu.

ONCE THE COUNTRY IS STABLE ENOUGH THEY CAN OPEN IT UPAGAIN. IN ORDER TO CURB THE GUNDAAGIRII AND LAWLESSNESS THAT COMES WITH THE NIGHT LIFE IT IS BEST THAT THEY PUT A LID ON THIS FOR NOW.

Nach na janey aganaii teedo. Chini chaina, mattitel chaina, petrol chaina taraaa yo gadha(who are complaining) haruu think this is more important ? No wonder Nepal is all fugged up.

I understand that there needs to be order but from an economics standpoint this makes no sense.  You complain about the distribution of wealth in Nepal but the nightlife industry is a good vehicle for doing just that.  The poor cannot afford to go dancing.  The people who earn the money, must then spend it.  (where do you think they will other than Kathmandu?)

Haha, what is next ;)

Close the co-ed school, coz they promote fornication ;)?

or what about banning the privately own car?

what about able to gather in one place and protest?

...

......

i just realized that the list can be long, very long.

Bottom line is a good try to curtail the civil liberty and trying to shove their doctrine.

Dj Yeti,

Are you out out of your mind ? What economics point of veiw are you talking about ? You gotta look at the big picture not dwell in petty lil things like a night club closing early. First and foremost if youdon't have stability, law and order youcannot run a business. IF YOUCANNOT RUNA A BUSINESS .. WHERE IS THE REVENUE ? IF YOUCANNOT RUN A BUSINESS.... NO FOREIGN INVESTMENT. WE NEED THAT FOREIGN INVESTMENT TO INJECT LIFE INTO NEPAL'S ECONOMY. TYO KUBUDDHI JUSTO NEPAL BANDH GARERA DESH BIKASH GERNEY KURA NAGAR NA GADHA. WHAT THE FUG DISTRIBUTION OF WEALTH HAVE TO DO WITH NIGHT LIFE INDUSTRY ? THAT ONLY LETS THE HAVE's EXPLOIT THE HAVE NOT's WHO ARE POOR. WHY THE FUG DO POOR NEED TO GO DANCING WHEN THEY CANNOT EVEN AFFORD EK KILO CHAAMAL ? Nepalis were doing fine before the whole night life industry came to Nepal.

So lets take your route.  Lets just have Nepal banda 365 to boost the economy and while we're at it, get rid of any progress made in the last 18 years.  Some patriot you are.
