It's been a while since we had any kind of gathering. How about Buffet at Kathmandu Spice this Sunday? On Sundays they serve Nepali food. Two Sundays ago when I went there, they had very good selection and it was yummy!

It would be nice to meet few other Nepalese casually over buffet. I'm thinking of going there at 12:30. The price is 8.95 per person. Not too bad a price to pay for good food and great company!

See you there, whoever can make it!

San - i think the college students in sajha have finals around this time!! So, i think it would be best after that, unless you want them to flunk their exams!! LOL! how about around the end of december? :D i think we should have it anytime after dec 18th!! :D so, maybe... how about sunday jan 7th, 2007??? :D or we can always have this one too and then have another one again!! :P

How about we also hold a competition over who can eat most?
There should be two Sections:
One Ladies Section
One Gentlemen Section

I will volunteer to bring the Scale to weight the food portion for every round.

All the participants should be checked for doping. That means no weed may be smoked before the meal. No other artificial appetite boosting drugs may be ingested before the showdown.

Your suggestions are welcome.

Thanks and God bless u (and me most of all).

San

Count me!

I would like to see some modifications with Sunday menu.

Quanti is good - keep as it is.

Woh - is fine

Saag is fine.

Aloo Kauli was good.

Chicken curry- instead of Indian style, make it Nepalese style with little gravy. Does not have to be bone less.

Chicken Tandoori can be eliminated.

Lamb Curry was superb and keep as it is. I did not care about my LDL.

Alu or Golbheda achaar would give typical appearance and taste.

Haluwa was inconsistent. The previous prep was better than later. (I had two servings ! ).

Rice was little soggy.

Like I said in some other thread, even Indians liked the quality and taste of food. Service is little slow and they let emptied hot dishes for quite a while.

Finding a place may take some time so we better arrive there early.

I liked the traditional style better than "fusion". Even my daughter did not find the food spicy (fusion style was too spicy even by my standards). They can't make everybody happy and should not try to also ;-))

My overall impression was good. I can recommend non-nepali friends to try KS to try nepali food.

UPDATE: Heard from KS that half the place is booked for Sunday Buffet, which means there will be place for about 30 of us. Let's plan on getting there at noon.

San dai,

Great idea - I was hoping someone would take the initiative because I personally did not have the stature or standing on Sajha that you have to do such a thing. Thanks for taking the lead.

I am most likely going to be on the road at that time. Let me see if I can move things around and get there by noon as I'd love to attend. I will do my best to be there. If not, I will come for the next one.

By the way, I hope we don't get into any conversation about our nick names. I am loving this anonymity and would hate to blow my cover :)

Thanks again for doing this. As always, you rock!

:)

I am so jealous of you Bostonians. You Red Sox, Patriot, Bruins and Celtic country!

Excuse this NYker for the intrusion. I couldn't help but admire San's initiative in bringing a few of you together for a short time - yet anticipated nice time with fellow Sajhaites, or Nepalis in general, doing what you have to do every day anyway - eat lunch. Following your good example, who knows if I will propose the same for the Sajhaites in New York and go have buffet in our local Nepali Restaurant. Better yet, have dinner and listen to Sapana Shree (this is a cue for you Bostonians to get jealous of us.... he he he).

And San, please don't forget to bring your camera, take pictures and post them on Ramjham. Only because I want to guess who Captain Haddock is, since he doesn't want his cover to be blown.

Have fun all.

LOL SSNY!

You have a very mischievous streak in you, I must say :) Thanks for the warning, I am going to stay away from the cameras now ... ha ha ha

San dai, can we disallow cameras? :D I think that should be restaurant policy - no cameras allowed during buffet ...LOL!!

No worries. No cameras. Just gonna be a regular buffet at a Nepali Restaurant with few more Nepalis around to share a Namaste here and there. It's always a pleasure to hang out with fellow Nepalis.

Captain Haddock - As far as remaining anonymous, I'll say, "Aye, aye, Captain".

But Jeez, making a rule of no camera at the restaurant? That's a bit too much. What's fun, which, in our daily lives of hardships is so rare and can be so easily forgotton, unless you capture the moment, with a camera?

And for San to agree with you so easily? I don't think I'd recognize San without a camera, can you, if you met him at one of the ANA conventions?

ssNY dai, I'd carry my camera at most of the functions but something like a casual buffet, I just want it to be a casual buffet where we go and socialize over some mitho dal bhat tarkari and massu! It would be nice to have you here one of these days if you can make it.

Arnico, it's too bad you're outta town this sunday. I'm not sure if I can make it on the 17th but I'll try.
Captain Haddock, I hope you make it.
Mabi dai it will be a pleasure to meet you again.
Pupify it's been a while, definitely about time we got together.
